3 8.1 Awards An awards ceremony will take place immediately following the conclusion of each championship game. The winning team only is required to be in attendance to receive the awards. The winning teams of the men's and women's championship games are requested to have the following administrators participate in the awards ceremony: Chief Executive Officer, Faculty Athletics Representative, Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. Order of presentation: 1. Championship Team a. 15 medallions to the team (student-athletes only) 2. All-Tournament Team Awards (5) 3. Most Valuable Player Award 4. Championship Trophy 8.2 Bands/Spirit Squads Bands and spirit squads are required to be in attendance at their respective teams' semifinal and championship games. At the UC Irvine Bren Events Center, band and spirit squad buses will drop off in Parking Lot 6A and be directed to an alternate parking lot. Band and spirit squad vans will be directed to park in the Mesa Parking Structure. Entrance will be through the lower Bren Events Center lobby by Lot 6A. At the Honda Center, buses will drop off in Lot 3 near the Northwest Band/Rally Squad entrance and will proceed to park in Lot Member institutions not traveling a band to the semifinals or finals shall incur a $500 fine per game. Member institutions not traveling a spirit squad to the semifinals or finals shall incur a $500 fine per game Each institution is limited to 50 band members and 30 rally squad members. One band director may be included in addition to the 50 band members, and one coordinator/supervisor may be included in addition to the 30 rally squad members. Names of band and rally squad members are to be submitted on alphabetical pass lists (see Appendices 5 and 6) Amplification of the band through an electronic bass is allowed in the competition venue. The Big West reserves the right to control the volume of the bass instrument which will be placed on ground level and not directed toward the basket stanchion or team benches A limit of 12 rally squad members plus a mascot will be permitted on the baseline adjacent to their bench during play. Additional rally squad members must be seated in the participants' section except during pre-game, halftime, post-game and timeout performances Rally squads must be in compliance with American Association of Cheerleading Coaches & Administration (AACCA) approved College Safety Rules. A safety auditor will be in attendance throughout the tournament. 3

The primary administrator will meet with game management officials before the game and is to be available throughout the game to assist the crowd control staff at either Bren Events Center or Honda Center. 8.5 Expenses/Per Diem The tournament per diem for room, tax and meals was outlined in a correspondence from the Conference Office to Directors of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrators and Athletic Business Managers. Participating institutions are responsible for all expenses with reimbursement to be made by the Conference Office at year-end per the per diem formula. There is no headquarters hotel. Each institution is responsible for securing tournament hotel accommodations as needed. 8.6 Facility Arena Entrance, Player-Guests A pass gate system will be used for the distribution of player-guest tickets in accordance with NCAA regulations. The player-guest entrance at Bren Events Center is located at the General Entrance at the Bren Events Center and at the east side of the arena at Honda Center. All individuals receiving tickets from team members must pick up tickets and enter at this location. A pass list along with the necessary tickets must be submitted to the player-guest entrance one hour prior to the first game of the day. An institutional representative is required to staff this entrance beginning one hour prior to their tournament game at both Bren Events Center and Honda Center Arena Entrance, Teams Individuals on the team pass lists (see Appendix 3 & 4) shall enter Bren Events Center through the lower lobby entrance by Lot 6A at Bren Events Center and through the loading dock at Honda Center. Buses at Honda Center will drop teams off at the bottom of the loading dock and then will be directed to park in Lot 4. Participant passes for players will be issued on a daily basis via pass list similar to the NCAA Tournament and must be displayed when players are not in uniform. Lapel pins for countable coaches will be distributed to coaches at check-in and should be kept and displayed throughout the Tournament. 5

6 8.6.3 Benches Bench locations will be assigned on a daily basis. Sitting at the scorer s table facing the court: The higher seeded team shall sit to the right and wear light uniforms; and the lower seeded team shall sit to the left and wear dark uniforms. The teams will warm-up prior to the game at the basket at the opposite end of the floor from their assigned bench. Halftime warm-ups will be at the basket directly in front of the assigned bench. Each bench shall have 20 chairs to accommodate the 25 individuals on each team's pass list (see Appendices 3 & 4) Locker Rooms Locker rooms will be assigned on a daily basis Participant Seating Participant seating for next game players, bands and rally squads, and overflow rally squads in the current game will be directed to a seating location. Nonplayer participant seating will be in the end zones at Bren Events Center and in Section 218 at the Honda Center. 8.7 Game Balls Tournament basketballs will be the NCAA Championship game ball provided by Wilson ( Solution ) for all games at Bren Events Center and Honda Center. 8.8 Hospitality There will be a central hospitality opportunity each day of the tournament at Honda Center with each institution limited to 24 daily wristbands for access. A suite at Honda Center will be available for institution use during each session it has a team competing as long as the institution commits to a minimum $1,850 food and beverage purchase each day. A maximum of 20 wristbands will be provided for each eligible session at Honda Center. 8.9 Lodging Each participating team shall be responsible for making its own lodging arrangements, if any. There is no headquarters hotel Media, Press Conferences Pre-tournament Press Conferences Head coaches (men's and women's) of the teams participating in the tournament will be required to participate in a pre-tournament telephone press conference on Monday, March 11, Each coach will be assigned a 10-minute period to answer questions from the media. The conference calls will be scheduled as follows: Women's Telephone Press Conference: 9:30 a.m. PT Men's Telephone Press Conference: 11:05 a.m. PT Postgame Press Conferences 1. First Round, Quarterfinal and Semifinal games The coach and two pre-determined players from the winning team are to make themselves available to the print media for interviews in the Media Interview Area five minutes after the conclusion of the game. The coach of the losing 6

7 team is to make himself/herself available following the winning team in the Media Interview Area. 2. Men's and Women's Championship Games The losing coach will appear in the Media Interview Area first after a ten-minute cooling off period, followed by the winning coach and players. 3. If a game is televised, the winning coach may be interviewed by television immediately following the game before proceeding to the Media Interview Area. 4. Each institution's Sports Information Director is responsible for getting his/her coach to the postgame interview site. Locker rooms are closed to the media. 5. Coaches may not participate on post-game radio broadcasts until after they have appeared in the Media Interview Area. Assistant coaches or players not selected to appear in the Interview Area may participate immediately on postgame broadcasts Media, Sports Information Directors A sports information director (or his/her designee) representing each participating team in the Big West Basketball Tournament must participate in a meeting/conference call held prior to this event Merchandise Kustom Imprints is the Conference's onsite agent for tournament merchandise and novelty sales at Bren Events Center and Honda Center. Institutions interested in consigning merchandise for sale through Kustom Imprints at Honda Center during tournament week must contact Mark Kuli at (800) ext Advanced Online is the Conference s online vendor for tournament merchandise and champions gear. All sales would take place through and institutions will be provided the opportunity to purchase a designated amount of merchandise at wholesale prices. The conference office will reach out to each institution prior to the Tournament Officials Officials will be assigned each day of the tournament. Priority will be given to the team that has the farthest distance to travel and with a second priority given to the higher seeded teams. Preference will also be given to those teams whom have yet to play a game in the tournament. Cal State Fullerton Men s & Women s practice times will be protected. If a team secures a practice time and fails to use the selected time without at least a one (1) hour cancellation notice, that institution shall be fined $500 by the Big West Conference Pregame Warm-up The floor will be available for a minimum of 30 minutes for pregame warm-up prior to all games. The pregame clock will be set for 30 minutes for the second game in each session. Teams participating in the first game of each session will be allowed to take the floor one hour prior to the game, if the floor is available Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Recognition Banquet will take place at the Marriott Suites Hotel ( Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA 92840) at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 14. Attendees generally include presidents/ chancellors, faculty athletics representatives, directors of athletics, senior woman administrators, sports information directors, coaches of honored scholar-athletes, and media representatives from member institutions. Spouses in attendance at 9

10 the tournament are also invited. Each institution is allocated 16 tickets to be used for the above people and other personnel at the university's discretion. Tickets for family members and friends of the honorees must be purchased per NCAA regulations. Priced at $25 each, tickets must be ordered through the Conference Office by February 21. Seating is assigned with each institution having designated tables. To guarantee enough seats are allocated for each institution, it is imperative that all institutions provide an accurate count to the Conference Office, including any guests of the student-athletes. Banquet Program The program consists of the introduction of the male and female scholar-athletes of the year from each member institution Scouting Scouting of future opponents is permissible at all contests. Due to a change in NCAA legislation, the coaching staffs of the #1 and #2 seeds in the women s tournament may scout the opening round contests at Bren Events Center. Scouting seats will be assigned courtside Seeding Seeding for both the men's and women's tournaments is determined by the final regular season conference standings. Eight men s and eight women s teams advance to the tournament bracket Sports Medicine An appropriate number of certified athletic trainers shall staff arena practices and games at the Big West Basketball Tournament. Each athletic training staff person should be at minimum a First Aid Responder. A coordinator of athletic trainers shall be designated for tournament games at Honda Center. A team physician shall be on site for all games at Honda Center at a retainer cost of $250 per session. Each participating team must provide its own certified athletic trainer at the event. will be the coordinator of athletic trainers for the women s opening rounds at Bren Events Center and Chris Mumaw ( ) or Jamie Potter ( ) at Honda Center Tickets, Complimentary There is a no complimentary ticket policy for the Big West Tournament. The Sports Information Director, the player-guest representative and the individuals on the participant lists will receive a credential or participant wristband. Temporary Access passes will be provided to each institution to allow for backstage access, but individuals utilizing these passes will still need a ticket for arena entrance Tickets, Institutional Requirements 1. Big West Institutional Commitment The eight institutions advancing men s teams to Anaheim are required to meet in the aggregate $116,000 in advance ticket sales. An all-session tournament ticket option shall be included on each institution's season ticket application. 10

Seat Locations and All-Session Ticket Distribution The size and location of each school's All-Session seating block at Honda Center has been predetermined, with schools receiving consignment tickets for their section for immediate sale. Reserved school sections are in Sections Ticket Options a. All-Session Tickets All-session reserved tickets for the Big West Basketball Tournament are sold only through member institutions box offices. All-session general admission tickets are available through Honda Center and Ticketmaster. All-Session tickets will be available to the general public until February 19, b. Student Ticket Seating at Honda Center A Student General Admission section will be designated in the end zones for students of the teams competing in each game. The Student General Admission sections designated at Honda Center are Sections and Section for the students of the teams competing in each game. c. General Ticket Sales Single-Session tickets will go on sale to the general public through the arena box office and TicketMaster on February 12, Campuses may arrange for Single-Session tickets and student tickets on a consignment basis. d. Single-session tickets for the general public will go on sale through the Honda Center Box Office, TicketMaster, and at member institution box offices beginning Tuesday, February 12, 2019 and running through tournament week. Campuses may arrange for general public and student single-session tickets on a consignment basis. Member institutions wishing to sell single-session tickets in their reserved sections must purchase all-session tickets in their block and break up tickets. All single-session tickets are general admission. Participating institutions are responsible for all transportation expenses with reimbursement of actual expenses to be made by the Conference Office at year-end up to each institution s budget allocation Uniforms The highest seeded team in each game will be the home team and will wear light colored uniforms. The lower seeded team in each game will be the visiting team and will wear dark colored uniforms. 12

13 8.26 Video The Big West Conference has arranged to have each men's and women's game at the tournament recorded by a single source as a service to each team. Following each tournament game the competing teams will receive a copy the game, as well as the winning team s next opponent. No other scout videography of games will be allowed. 13

14 APPENDIX 1 - Frequently Asked Questions HOTEL ARRANGEMENTS Is there a headquarters hotel or special room rate at any hotel for tournament teams? No. Each team is responsible for making its own hotel arrangements at a hotel of its choosing. Are local teams required to stay in a hotel? No. PARTICIPANT INFORMATION Who should be included on the 25-person team lists (Appendix 2 & 3 )? This list should cover only the individuals that will sit in the 20 bench chairs plus the five players on the court, but must include an athletic trainer. We have a large band and rally squad that participates in our home games all year round. The trip to the tournament is their reward. Can we bring more than 50 band members and 30 rally squad members? If we buy tickets for the extra people, may they perform? A limit of 50 band members plus one director/supervisor and 30 rally squad members plus one director/supervisor may be admitted by pass list. You may bring as many other band/rally squad members as you like but they must have tickets and they may not play nor sit in the band/participant sections. If you wish to switch performers from game to game that would be permissible but only 50 persons may sit in the band area, 12 rally squad members and the mascot may be on the floor and 18 additional rally squad members may sit in the participant section. You may not change names on the participant pass list after the first day of the tournament. My team is out of the tournament. I am a participant. Can I return to watch other games? Yes, participants may return to the arena to watch other games, but credentials and participant passes are not transferable. Can our bus driver come to the game? Yes, but bus drivers must either have a ticket or be included within the maximum limits on a team, band or spirit squad pass list. Who from each institution receives a credential? The primary administrator, sports information director, the player-guest representative, and the individuals on the team s pass list all receive a credential or participant wristband. All other institutional staff members must have a ticket unless they are working the tournament for the Big West Office. The President/Chancellor, the Director of Athletics, the Senior Woman Administrator and the Faculty Athletics Representative will receive Temporary Access Passes, but will need a ticket for arena entrance. 14
