1 Coaches Manual This manual is provided as a guide to the coaching program for the Waseca Hockey Association. Portions of this manual are reviewed and approved by the WHA Board on an ongoing basis. Last Review: 8/27/17

2 The WHA Board annually appoints a Coaching Committee to make recommendations to the Board regarding coaching decisions, policies and any other issue that may arise that directly affects our coaches or the players they coach. Prior to each season and based on numbers, the Coaching Committee will make the recommendation to the board on who to appoint to coach at each level of play. The WHA will normally field at least one team from each level with the exception of a 10U girls team as numbers have not allowed this to happen in recent history. The Coaching Committee shall normally consist of: HS Boys Hockey Coach, HS Girls Hockey Coach, and at minimum, two additional coaches with at least 2 years experience as a head coach with the WHA. Coaching Levels Bantam: PeeWee: 12U Girls: Squirt: 10U Girls: Mite: ** 10U Team will only be fielded if there are enough girls ** 1 Head Coach, 1 Assistant Coach ** Multiple Assistant Coaches may be authorized by the WHA Board depending on Numbers at this level ** Learn to Skate: 1 Head Coach, 1 Assistant Coach

5 Hotel & Travel Expense Reimbursement - Head Coach Non-Parent Head Coach The WHA will reimburse a non-parent head coach for their hotel room up to $130 / night for the maximum of two nights on a given away tournament weekend that is more than 50 miles away from the Waseca Community Arena. Maximum of 2 away tournaments per season. Any additional non-end of the year tournaments would be at the expense of the coach. In addition the WHA would reimburse the non-parent head coach for their hotel room up to $130 per night for a maximum of two nights for the district and regional tournaments. The WHA would reimburse for three nights at the state tournament for up to $130 per night. Each non-parent head coach will receive a $200 check for a fuel stipend per season. Parent Head Coach The WHA will reimburse a parent head coach for their hotel room up to $130 per night for a maximum of two nights on a given away tournament weekend. Maximum of 2 away tournaments per season including districts, regional and state tournaments. Parent head coaches will not receive a fuel stipend. ** The WHA Board has the right to deny any expense based on lack of documentation or due to abuse ** Approved by the WHA Board 12/16/2015 Non-Parent Head Coach Coaches Pay Bantam Coach..$1,500 PeeWee / 12U..$1,100 Squirt / 10U...$600 Mite..$500 / team Learn to Skate Coordinator.....$500 Parent Head Coach Parent head coaches will not receive coaching pay. This may include costs for coaching clinics, Safe Sport training and the cost to conduct background checks. Coaches Apparel Both approved Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches at each level will be provided with a Coaches Jacket paid for by the Waseca Hockey Association.
