1 CANADIAN OPEN REMATCH Yes, it was Millarville vs Zenas for a second year in a row competing for the Canadian Open Championship title and the Omega watches at the Calgary Polo Club. A huge crowd was on hand on Sunday, August 20th to witness these two teams square off one more time. Millarville came out on fire scoring the first goal and leading by as many as 3 goals in the first half. It seemed as though it may be a very long game for Zenas. Half time proved to be very beneficial for Zenas because the 4th chukker definitely belonged to them. Both teams battled through the 5th and 6th chukkers, but in the end Zenas held onto a 1 goal lead and took over the Canadian Open Championship title as well as winning the coveted Omega watches generously donated by J. Vair Anderson. Runners-up of the Canadian Open: Millarville: Clemente Zavaleta, Daniel Roenisch, Fred H. Mannix, Bryan Thomas. Ken Anderson and Anne Kendall presenting prizes. Winners of the 2006 Canadian Open: Zenas: Joe Henderson, Brad Blake, Juan Gris Zavaleta, John Rooney. Ken Anderson presenting the Omega watches. Fred H. Mannix flying over the boards to get the ball! 4 BARBADOS POLO COMES TO CALGARY In an effort to boost Barbados tourism, the Calgary Polo Club and the Barbados Tourism Authority joined forces to bring together the first Barbados Polo Challenge. Team Canada and Team Barbados played a 4 chukker match on Sunday, August 20th in front of a very large and enthusiastic crowd. It was a very close game, in the end Team Barbados ended up winning the first Barbados Polo Challenge Cup, but somehow I think a rematch will definitely take place next year. A big thank you to everyone who was involved in making this event such a tremendous success! Runners-up of the Barbados Challenge Cup: Team Canada: Daniel Roenisch, Kyle Fargey, Cam Clark, Blake Clark Winners of the 2006 Barbados Challenge Cup: Team Barbados: Teddy Williams, Ivan Rubinich, Hugo Pearl, Damian Luke. The game was a lot of fun to watch...even though the women just barely lost to the men! Blake Clark (white) and Ivan Rubinich The Men: Ron Scott, Scott Hunt, Dylan Foster, Kyle Fargey.
