As Hofstra s most honored lacrosse player, Shanahan was a three-time All-America selection earning honorable mention in 1999, second team honors in 2000, and first team accolades as a senior. In addition to his first team honors in 2001, he also earned: the Lt. Donald McLaughlin Award from the USILA as Division I Midfielder of the Year; the Lt. Ray Enners Award as USILA Division I Player of the Year; and the inaugural Tewaaraton Trophy as college lacrosse s Player of the Year. REMEMBERING NICK: On November , the Hofstra University family lost a beloved member of the community with the passing of men s lacrosse player Nicholas Colleluori. His 14-month battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma was a study in courage, dignity and the relentless attitude that he brought to everything he did. A son, a brother, a fiancé, a teammate, a classmate and a friend, Nick cherished and honored all of these titles. He will be remembered for the love and joy that he brought to so many people and a spirit that will last forever. The Hofstra lacrosse program is active in fund-raising activities in the fight against lymphoma. In addition, each year one senior, who exemplifies the spirit and relentless attitude that Nick displayed, will be selected to wear the number 27 uniform.
