More specifically, this includes providing Interim leadership services, policy and process redesign, project and training management and delivery, performance management, measurement and coaching. This broad range of experience gives me great perspective in understanding clients current and future challenges in their organization and partnering with them to provide practical solutions to achieve positive results. I seek share this experience and contribute to the Leadership of Ringette Alberta Board in the position of President. Over the last 20 years, I have been a player, coach, team treasurer and manager and more recently held the position of Director at Large with Ringette Alberta. I have also shared my passion for our sport with my daughter who has been playing for over 5 years. In my ringette experience, I have seen many 8

changes, met many who share the same passion for the sport and believe that working together with our membership, we can tackle and overcome challenges and support positive change to grow ringette opportunities for girls at all ages and skill levels. If elected, I commit to the members and my colleagues to listen, learn and to always look for solutions that put our athletes needs first. Michele Wheeler I have been involved with Ringette for the past 9 years. Our only daughter chose this sport after a Come Try Ringette/Bring A friend day at the Indus Association. Her enthusiasm for the sport was contagious and soon her Dad was coaching and I was managing. From there I have had the opportunity to be involved on executives in both the small and large, rural and urban Associations, as well as on the board that hosted the Western Canadian Ringette Championships in Calgary in I have seen the many challenges as well as opportunities this sport brings to all our communities. Being on the Board of Directors this past year I have had the opportunity to appreciate and respect the views and ideas of others across our province. Working together with not only the other Board members but the staff in the Ringette Alberta office and all our member Associations to make our sport the best choice for our young female athletes in this province this past year has been a great experience and I look forward to continuing on in the role of Vice President. Jamie Figursky I have been on the Ringette Alberta Board for two years. In that time, I served on the Board s Governance and Nominations Committee and the Human Resources Committee. I ve attended nearly all regular and emergency board meetings and represented at two provincial tournaments. I have previous experience working on boards in ringette, small business and other non-profits. I have a Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration and currently work for Alberta Health Services as an IT Change Manager. This role focuses on bringing positive changes to the organization while mitigating of risks inherent with change. I have three daughters in ringette who have played at levels ranging from C to AA. I bring with me experience in a small association in Central Alberta, in a variety of different roles, and most importantly it is my goal to improve the sport of Ringette for all players in the province. Jody Gardiner (Drayton Valley) I am running for a position as a director on the Ringette Alberta board. I am a stay at home mom of 2 kids - my daughter is my only ringette player and my son is a freestyle skier. We are a winter family and love winter sports. Up until 2009, I had never heard of ringette until my kindergarten aged daughter brought a Come Try Ringette flyer home from school. She went with some friends and has been in love with ringette ever since. It didn t take me long to move up the ranks ; starting as a team manager, then joining our local 9

association executive as Communication Director and then as Ice Allocator. I have been serving on the executive for 4 years and I like being a part of the ringette sport in Drayton Valley. I m running for the position of Director for a few reasons. My daughter is U14 age - she may not have many more years to play in our small town. I want to feel like I contributed or made a difference while I still can. I feel strongly about many of the things Ringette Alberta is actively involved in and making changes to the sport (i.e.: ABC s). Also, being in a small town, we sometimes feel so out of the loop with the policies and rule changes - I know being a director will allow me to give our own association greater insight in what s happening with Ringette Alberta. I am a diligent worker, I like contributing to projects and I think I can bring a different perspective to discussions. Thank you and I hope I am considered for the director position. Gloria Lovsin (St. Albert) I have been around sport my whole life. I enjoy the competitive atmosphere and life long friendships that sport has created for my family. I have sat on various boards for multiple sports including minor hockey, ski racing and competitive dance. I have volunteered my time to organize and deliver events such as Alberta Summer Games, World Jr. Hockey (Edmonton) and provincial hockey tournaments. Currently I am working on the committee to bring the CRC event to Leduc in I am a teacher by trade and that along with strong organizational skills and my ability to communicate as well as motivate large groups of people should be an asset to the RAB board. Karen Salmon (Calgary) I have just completed my two-year term as a director and am seeking re-election for a further term. I am a mother of four, including two ringette players who will play at the U14 and U16 level next season. I have been involved in ringette for many years in many different capacities including as an assistant coach at the U9 [now AC] level, and as a coordinator at the U9, U10 and U12 age group levels for Bow View ringette. My youngest daughter although not a permanent goalie, spends significant time in net while my husband coaches at least one ringette team each year. I am also a litigation/regulatory lawyer and partner with the law firm of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Calgary. I have been with BLG for over 20 years and my practice is focused on the energy sector. I have a strong background in problem solving, negotiation, issue identification and strategic thinking from my legal background. Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity in my role as a director to speak with many parents, officials, coaches, players and volunteers from different associations. The feedback received has been invaluable in helping me better understand the (sometimes different) issues that are faced by our members in different areas of the Province. It has also informed my views on a variety of challenges that arise from time to time at the Board level and allowed me to apply a broader perspective in working through those challenges. 10

I would like the opportunity to continue to serve the ringette community and contribute to the development of the sport in the Province as a director with Ringette Alberta. Kelly Warner (Lacombe) I am a resident of Lacombe, AB, and have been involved with the sport of ringette for nine years. I first started to become involved when my eldest daughter, currently U16, joined the sport in the first grade. Having never seen the sport before, I spent two years watching, learning and being a ringette dad. A couple of years later, my youngest daughter, now U12, joined ringette and I started my career as a ringette coach. I have coached at the U6-U12 levels and have filled in at the U14 & U16 levels when needed. Taking on additional roles in our association by joining the executive has allowed me to view the workings of ringette in Alberta from a different perspective. As the treasurer of our local association, I attend all of our executive meetings and have become involved in many association duties. The role of treasurer suited my abilities as I have experience with accounting and am a business owner in Central Alberta. I have refereed for five years and fill in for whatever games our referee allocator needs; whether it is U10-1 all the way to Open. For the season, I have stepped away from a role on the Lacombe Ringette Executive, and would like to focus my attention at the provincial level. I feel it is important for Ringette Alberta to have someone who can bring a perspective from a smaller association, such as Lacombe, to its meetings. I am eager to learn more about the sport in our province and to continue to be involved with a sport which my daughters and I have come to love. Election Procedure President will be declared by acclamation Vice President will be declared by acclamation Director at Large (3 x two-year term) Each voting delegate will select a maximum of three individuals out of the seven nominees to be elected as Director at Large for a two-year term. These results will be counted and this portion of the elections will be closed, then Director at Large (2 x one-year term) The remaining two nominees will be acclaimed as Director at Large for a one-year term each. 11

Conference Session Descriptions Residency Policy The Residency Policy Task Force s interim report will be presented followed by an opportunity for members to discuss the recommendations and provide feedback. A final report and member feedback will be provided to Ringette Alberta s Board to consider for implementation for the season. Goaltender Development A report on the use of small nets during the season will be presented along with a proposal that outlines appropriate goaltender development progressions, including when small nets should be used and what position specialization look likes. The proposal will clarify the recommendations for goaltender development included in the LTAD model and identify what should become requirements for the season so all associations are adhering to the same practices. Members will have the opportunity to discuss the recommendations as well as help determine appropriate means of monitoring and consequences for non-compliance. Universal Athlete Assessment A report on the second year of the pilot will be provided along with implications for tiering policy for the season. Members will be given the opportunity to discuss and offer feedback for Ringette Alberta Board to consider when reaching its final decision. To prepare for the possibility of the Universal Athlete Assessment model replacing the tiering formula, the members will also be asked to advise Ringette Alberta on how best to achieve real world implementation of the UAA approach. Adult Ringette Policy Refinement Opportunity for Adult Ringette stakeholders to discuss the final version of the adult ringette policies before the Ringette Alberta Board finalizes them for the season. Proposals have already been circulated to Adult Ringette Associations. Come Try Ringette System Training This session is designed for individuals tasked with leading the recruitment efforts for their local ringette association. In addition to the training session, Ringette Alberta s Sport Development Coordinator will discuss recruitment plans and Come Try Ringette requirements with association representatives for the season. 12
