Overall, I think we can say that we had another great hockey season. Just think, the new hockey season is only 6 months away! A huge thank you goes out to all the minor hockey volunteers coaches, managers, team representatives and executive board members who donated their time and efforts WELL DONE! Quite simply, Lacombe Minor Hockey cannot exist without your efforts. THANK YOU SHELLEY! For those who are unaware, I have been recently elected as the new president of Lacombe Minor Hockey carrying on from Shelley Bolze who has been our president for the last 3 seasons. I would personally like to thank Shelley for her enormous contribution to minor hockey in our town. Having spent this past season as Vice President, I have a real appreciation for the countless hours it takes to ensure our entire association can succeed. Along with her role as President of our association, Shelley also served 2 years as Vice- President and 2 years as the association s Sponsorship Board Member. Without dedicated volunteers like Shelley stepping up, we would really struggle to provide an opportunity for our kids to play this GREAT game. Thanks also to Shelley s family for the sacrifices they have made over the last few years, enabling her to meet the demands of this position. She has amassed a wealth of information, and I will work hard to apply all that I have learned over the last year and do my best to represent the players, coaches and parents of Lacombe Minor Hockey. LACOMBE MINOR HOCKEY ON THE WEB As most of you know, this was the first year that Lacombe Minor Hockey was on the web with our own website at Many teams found value in the website, and hopefully next year we can build upon that and get more people using it. Over the summer, we will be busy adding more information and tools on it, making it a valuable resource for all things related to minor hockey in our town. If you have any feedback, please let us know. 2006/2007 REGISTRATION We will be providing two different ways of registering for the 2006/2007 hockey season. Starting May 1 st, registration can be made on our minor hockey website. This is a quick and easy way to get registered. If you are unable to register online, we will be holding ONE registration session in-person at the Lacombe Centre Mall on Tuesday, June 20 th from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM. A few notes about this year s coming registration: To register online: o Log onto o Click the LMHA Info header, click Registration, and then click on Player Registration Form. o Fill in the registration form, ensuring all the information is correct.

2 o Please remember to check off if your son/daughter is trying out for the A team (for the divisions of Atom and up only). o Hit Enter and you will be registered pending payment being received in the mail postmarked no later than June 30 th. Please refer to our mailing address at the top of this newsletter. o Payment Options: o Credit Card: Credit card payments (Visa/Mastercard) will be accepted, but please do NOT enter your credit card information on the website. Instead, please print off the payment form, fill in your credit card information and mail it to us. The charge on your credit card will appear under the name of BIG SPLASH. The ONLY method of paying your registration fees using your credit card is by mailing in the information with the completed registration information, so please do not attempt to pay the fees directly at the Big Splash Car, Truck & RV Wash. If you are paying by credit card, you must pay all fees in full in ONE transaction. Dividing the charges over multiple transactions will not be allowed. The charge to your credit card will be made on September 1, o Cheque: Payment can also be made by cheque either in full or in three equal post-dated cheques (dated July 1, September 1 and October 15). So for an earlybird ATOM fee ($ in total), three cheques totaling $103.33, $ & $ are required if you choose to spread out the payments. NOTE: No player will be allowed on the ice until registration fees are paid in full. 3 CONCESSION Just a reminder to all parents that the concession at the arena is operated by Lacombe Minor Hockey. Parents are able to offset the costs of registering their kids by working in the concession. For the 2006/2007 season, parents can choose their times throughout the year, and are no longer restricted to a certain month of the hockey season. For more information, please contact our concession convener, Sherri CASINO & CASH LOTTERY FUNDRAISERS Lacombe Minor Hockey is looking for volunteers to work this summer s Casino down in Red Deer on Saturday June 24 th & Sunday June 25 th. This event is a big fundraiser for our association, so your participation is greatly appreciated. Please contact our Casino Coordinator, Sandi Gouchie at to sign up or for more information. We will continue on with our annual Cash Lottery fundraiser this coming season. Each family will be responsible for selling ONE booklet. Each booklet contains 10 tickets, which are $10.00 each ($ for the entire booklet). If there is more than one child in the family, the booklet will be distributed to the youngest child. LA SUMMER HOCKEY CAMPS Lacombe Minor Hockey is very pleased to announce the return of the LA Summer Hockey Camps this August here in Lacombe. This camp continues to receive excellent reviews from both players and parents who have attended camps in the past. Tom Bast and his new associate Stacy Allen - Power Skating Specialist from the U of A Golden Pandas have teamed up to help support Lacombe Minor Hockey and provide players in the Lacombe area with the opportunity to take part in an outstanding and well organized hockey development camp. There are 4 groups this year: - Dynamite / Tyke (Initiation): Ages Novice: Ages Atom: Ages Pee Wee: Ages Early bird pricing (prior to May 15) is a very reasonable $ GST, while registrations after May 15th will be $ GST. There is also special pricing for alumni of this camp, which is Tom's way of thanking you for your continued support! 5 Last years game between the Rebels and Calgary Hitmen was a huge success, and we hope to have the same results this year. Western Women s Hockey League (WWHL) game: This past year we hosted a WWHL game between the Calgary Oval Extreme and the Edmonton Chimos. It too was a successful event, and we are looking to bring back another elite female event in 2006, so please stay tuned! Tryout dates: Once the town releases the ice schedule for the upcoming season, we will let you know when tryouts will take place. Coaching Applications: Parents interested in coaching this coming year can register on the website. Go to the LMHA Info - Registration section of the website and click on the Coach Registration option. It is a quick and easy registration process, and ALL coaches must be registered before stepping on the ice. Again, thank you to all the volunteers who have given their time and effort this past year in order to make our association work it is very much appreciated.
