TOURNAMENT CONTACTS Scott Ingmand, kahaadmin@charter.net or (865) KJ Voorhees, kjv@coolsportstn.com or (865) John Johannes, tennesseesplash@hotmail.com or (865) TOURNAMENT OPERATION Tournament schedule (8, 10 or 12 team) will be determined based on registrations received and will be finalized by no later than November 30, Each game will consist of three 12 minute periods. Each game operates under a strict 70 minute curfew from official game start. Periods 1 & 2 are stop-time execution. At the beginning of period 3, the curfew is checked for a 22 minute window. If more than 22 minutes remains, stop-time is used throughout the third period; if 22 minutes or less remains, run-time is used. The on-ice officials will inform coaches at the beginning of the period as to whether stop-time or run-time will be used. If run-time is invoked in Period 3 and a 2-goal or less differential exists in the last two minutes of game-time, the clock reverts to stop-time.
6 6th Annual Knoxville High School Hockey Hoe-down Tournament 6 of 7 Each team gets one 30-second time-out per game. Time-outs cannot be used when the clock is in run-time. Knoxville staff will operate the game clock and cover official score-keeping duties. Teams will staff their own penalty box. Home and Guest designations are used only to determine scorekeeper responsibility. Teams will use the end of ice and bench nearest their locker room without asking teams to cross each other s ranks off-ice either before or after a game. If at any point in the game a playing team is 5-goals behind, the clock will go to run time until the goal differential is less than 5 or the game ends. Penalties are assessed at 2 minutes for minor penalties, 5 minutes for majors and 10 minutes for misconducts. Each game will be scored against 5 total points: Game Win = 2 points; Tie = 1 point; Loss = 0 points and Period Win = 1 point; Tie = ½ point; Loss = 0 points. Top seeds, based on points earned will compete in the Championship game (8 team event)/series (10 or 12 team event). Tournament tie-breakers will be as follows: wins; goal differential; goals for; fewest goals allowed; fewest penalty minutes; and, a coin toss. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation for the Tournament Championship Game, there will be a one minute break after the third period with a 5 minute sudden death period. Each team will skate 4-on-4 and will stay on their respective ends as the third period. Penalized players prior to the overtime must serve their penalties in full prior to participating in the overtime period. If the game is still tied at the end of the 5 minutes, the teams will have a one minute break and a sudden death shootout will begin. Each team will choose one shooter with the home team having their choice to shoot first or last. The game will end when either team scores and the other misses. If both teams score or miss, then a second shooter from each team will repeat the same procedure. All players from each team must shoot before a team can use a player to shoot a second time. Game-misconducts incurred during the Tournament are under USA Hockey rules and must be served in the next player game in Tournament or beyond. The Ice will be resurfaced prior to each game to ensure we have enough time to complete each game. On-ice pre-game warm-up of 3 minutes is allotted before each game. The clock will begin once the zamboni doors close. A one minute between period intermission will be provided. All USA Hockey rules are in force. The Cool Sports, LLC Icearium facility General Manager or their designee can direct requests for player suspensions of any player engaging in foul or abusive behavior at their facility to the Tournament operating committee (Any member of the KAHA Board of Directors, the Icearium Hockey Director or the KAHA/HS Hockey Director). A full Discipline Committee will be on hand during the Tournament.
