UCLA clinched the Pac-10 championship over the weekend and are currently in conference play and overall. They are ranked 15th in the nation. LMU is currently 2nd in the WCC behind #5 Santa Clara. They are overall with a conference mark of The Lions defeated SCU on Sunday, 2-1. A Look Back at Last Week The Toreros tied both of their road games last weekend against #5 Santa Clara and University of San Francisco. USD struck first in the 17th against SCU as forward Ryan Guy found mid-fielder Calle Rendahl open inside the penalty box on the right side. Rendahl received Guy s pass 20 yards out from the goal and shot it to the near post past the keeper for a 1-0 lead. The Toreros held on until the 67th minute when SCU scored tying the game. Both teams battled for the win but couldn t find the net. At USF, had many opportunities to score as well as the Dons. But neither team was able to post a goal. 2 Head Coach Seamus McFadden USD head coach Seamus McFadden is in his 27th year at the helm of the Torero men s soccer program. With a overall and conference record, he now owns a career mark of The 7-time WCC Coach of the Year has won 5 WCC titles and advanced to the NCAA post season 11 times. McFadden arrived at USD in 1979 and fielded USD s first team in the fall of A native of Donegal, Ireland, Seamus and his wife Davette have two daughters (Hadley & Rorye) and a son (Conor). The McFaddens reside in Rancho Penasquitos. Tommy Tate is in his 9th season as an assistant coach for the Torero soccer program. No stranger to USD, he played goalie for Coach McFadden between He recorded 17 shutouts and finished his USD career He spent some time in minor league soccer before returning to the Toreros to assist his former coach. Michael Nico Nicholson begins his first season as an Assistant Coach at USD. He joins the Toreros after serving as an assistant at UCSD. USD BY THE NUMBERS...
