1 Ancaster Avalanche Midget BB Coaching philosophy: My coaching philosophy is quite basic; I coach because it is my passion. I have coached rep hockey and soccer for the past seven years. I strive to create an environment that will encourage our girls to learn and develop on and off the ice. They will move forward and take the positives from winning and losing. I endeavour to mould a group of individuals to be responsible and accountable for themselves on and off the ice. They will respect themselves, their coaches, opponents, officials and fans. Each player will be given the opportunity to develop her skill in an organized, structured environment that constantly challenges the athletes with positive encouragement and support. Every player has their strengths and weaknesses, I as a coach will work on turning their weaknesses into strengths. In conclusion I want to teach these girls sportsmanship and how to have fun while also learn the game. My goal is to instill the idea that winning is not the reason we play. The goal is to have fun, gain experience, and learn to play as a team. Expectations: player Try their best and push themselves to improve every practice Have fun Be at practice on time
2 Arrive 45 minutes early before a game and dressed in the change room 15 min before game time Tournaments 1 hour before Be respectful of coaches, teammates, referees, and opponents, and practice good sportsman ship at all times Listen to the coaches and play the system we coaches implement This hockey team TRUMPS all other sport team or individual activities outside Ancaster Girls hockey Support their teammates Cheer positively Never quit Independent fitness work Healthy diet To call manager if she cannot attend practice or game Expectations: Coaches Be patient and understanding Positive and supportive Set the example of good sportsmanship Expectations: Parents Cheer Positively and respect game officials Support coaches choice and team systems Ensure daughter attends practices and games
3 Help with proper nutrition, rest and time management. No discussions with coaches before a practise or game please respect the 24 hour rule post game or tournament Support with volunteer time keeping etc Team rules: Promise to practice hard and play as hard as I practice Win with pride, lose with dignity Always lead by example, be a team leader Represent Ancaster Avalanche girls hockey with the highest level of conduct No CELL PHONES, LAP TOPS or I PADS in change room Arrive 45min before a game and be in full uniform 15 min before game time Be on time for practice. Players are to be ready for practice as soon as ice is ready and coaches go on Tournament time. Players are to be at the rink 1 hour before game time Bring both jerseys to all games Missing practices or tardiness results in loss of game playing time ( coaches discretion ) Disobeying team rules results in loss of game playing time ( coaches discretion ) Respect your parents your coaches your referees and your teammates
4 We will not tolerate fighting amongst each other, pushing, shoving, name calling or making someone feel bad and profanity. Coaches, managers and trainers only in the change room before and after a game Players will remove helmets and gloves after a game and give coaches ten minutes of time Parents please allow 24 hour window after any game or practice to the manager with any concerns, problems or issues.
