1 A & B Tournament Rules 8U, 10U, 12U & 14U NOVEMBER At the Weber County Ice Sheet It is the intent of the Golden Spike Armature Hockey Association (GSAHA) to provide fun and competitive games for all participants and spectators during the 2017 Thanksgiving Shootout Tournament. ZERO TORLERANCE and USA Hockey Code of Conduct for all Players, Coaches, Parents, and Spectators will be enforced. We expect that everyone show good sportsmanship and respect to officials, players, and coaches. There will be zero tolerance for verbal abuse to officials, and inappropriate spectator behavior towards the opposing teams or opposing spectators. At any time an official or tournament director may remove a spectator from the rink for violating these rules. It is the responsibility of each coach/team manager to control his/her team and spectators to ensure they exemplify good sportsmanship. Coaches, Team Managers, Parent Volunteers should be familiar with the ASAH coaching ethics standards. The USA Hockey Code of Conduct can be found here: As a USA Hockey sanctioned tournament, USA Hockey Rules will govern hockey play. The 8U will be using blue pucks. All games will be officiated by USA Hockey certified referees. Tournament Rules and format: 1. Length of game 10U & 12U: Round Robin Games will consist of 3 periods. The periods will be three 12 -minute stop times. At the discretion of the on-ice officials, if the third period begins with fewer than 20 minutes in the allotted time slot the clock will run continually except when a penalty is assessed, goal is scored or injury. Penalty will be one minute and thirty seconds. At any time during the third period the goal differential between the teams reaches 5 goals, the game clock will go to running time and will only stop for one of the following. 1) If the goal differential between the goals reaches 5 goals; 2) When a goal is scored; 3) When a penalty is assessed; 4) Injury. Three-minute warm-ups. (At 60 seconds a buzzer will go off to allow team s to clear pucks and when clock resets puck will drop for play) Thirty seconds between periods. There will be no ice resurface between periods. Championship games will be three 13-minute stop times.

2 2. Length of game 14U: Round robin games will consist of 3 periods. There will be thee 13 minute stop times. At the discretion of the on-ice officials, if the third period begins with fewer than 20 minutes in the allotted time slot the clock will run continually except for when a penalty is assessed, goal is scored. Penalty will be two minutes. At any time during the third period the goal differential between the teams reaches 5 goals, the game clock will go to running time and will only stop for the following. 1) If the goal differential drops below 6 goals. 2) When a goal is scored 3) When a penalty is assessed 4) Injury Three minute warm-ups (At 60 seconds a buzzer will go off to allow team s to clear pucks and when clock resets puck will drop for play) Thirty second between periods One minute time out per game/per team There will be no ice resurface between periods. Championship and Consolation games will be three 15 minute stop time GAMES MAY START EARLY IF ICE IS AVAILABLE. TEAMS SHOUD BE DRESSED AND READY 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO SCHEDULED START TIME. 3. STANDING AND ROUND ROBIN FORMAT Teams shall receive two (2) points for a win, one (1) for a tie, and zero (0) for a loss. In the event of a tie in the standings at the conclusion of the round robin, the order of the standings will be decided by the following: Winner of the head to head game played between the two tied teams. This tiebreaker does not apply if three teams are tied. Most points acquired versus common opponents (Except Bantams) Fewest goals against during the round robin games. Fewest amount, of penalty minutes during round robin games Coin Toss If the championship game ends in a tie the teams will play 4 minutes sudden victory overtime, if still tied we will have a 5 -player shootout, if still tied we will alternate shots until someone wins. 4. Tournament Format: 4 Teams per division At the conclusion of round robin teams will be seeded based on points and tiebreakers. SEED 1 vs. SEED 2 will be the championship game. 5. Rosters: Players are only allowed to play in one division during this tournament and on one team only. USA Hockey Roster Required

3 Final Roster must be provided to the Tournament Director (Lacy Sappington) no later than November 18, Absolutely NO roster changes will be accepted after this date. (November 18, 2017) Any players not on the 1 st game score sheet roster will be removed from the tournament if there is a protest. If found during the game, the said team will play shorthanded with a 5 minute penalty, team plays shorthanded for the full 5 minutes even if the opponent scores. Another player must serve the penalty. If discovered between games this penalty will apply to the team s next game at the start of those games 1 st period. If there is an ineligible player discovered in the incorrect age bracket that team will lose all games in which they played by a score of 1-0 and the players are removed from the tournament. DON T CHEAT YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! 6. Jersey Color: Home Light-Visitor Dark. If a team does not have two sets of jerseys, it s the team manager or coach s responsibility to notify the opposing team and referees of any necessary change prior to game time. 7. Players, Coaches, Parents, and Spectators Code of Conduct: We expect and demand that everyone show sportsmanship and respect to the officials, players, and coaches. Penalty Box: Each team will be required to provide a representative to assist in the penalty box. Absolutely NO children. 9. Damage to the Rink: The repair and replacement cost involved with damage done to any property at any ice arena, hotel or other facility will be the responsibility of the team(s) and the individual(s) causing such damage. Immediate arrangements for restitution must be made and violations of this rule are cause for disqualification from the tournament and the incident may be reported to the team s local, State, or Regional governing hockey body. 10. Awards: Team banners will be given for the first and second place team. (All Mites will receive a player participation shirt with no banner given) 11. Tournement officials reserve the right to end any game or move any game to running time if the official s and/or referee deem the game has become unsafe, or to recover time in the tournament schedule. In the event there are any discrepancies with interptation of the rules listed above, the referees, during the game, will make final decisions! The tournament director will handle all protests and disputed. Lacy Sappington, Shelly Bricco or Jason Empey will make any other final and/or unhappy decisions. 5 Game Format Games will be played 4 vs. 4 and a goalie (5 total). Goalies may not be pulled for an extra attacker. Play will be cross-ice The goals will consist of 4 ½ x 3 intermediate nets Blue pucks will be used in all games Games will consist of three 12-Minute Run Time Periods with one minute intermissions Shifts will be 2 minutes A Center-Ice faceoff will take place after each goal In an effort to maximize playing time, referees will spot pucks into an open defensive corner on goalie covers. To ensure fair restarts, at the referee s discretion goalie covers may result in a center-ice face-offs. Should the championship game be within a one (1)-goal differential in the last 6 minutes of play, all goalie covers will result in center-ice face-offs. No coaches in playing surface. Penalties: A USA Hockey certified referee would be on ice and call penalties. Minor penalties result in offending player sent off and team will play shorthanded for the remainder of the shift. Penalized player will have to sit 3 minutes before returning to play. Major penalties result in offending player sent off and his/her team will play, team shorthanded for remainder of shift and following 2 shifts. No return to full strength until penalty expires. Major penalties may result in player being ejected from the game at referee discretion. Championship Game: Championship game ties will be decided by Sudden Death overtime of 6 minutes Overtime penalties result in penalty shot If game is tied at the end of overtime, a shootout will take place using Thanksgiving Shootout Rules Standing Tiebreakers: Two Tem Tiebreaker Head to Head Fewest Goals Against Fewest Penalties Most Goals For Coin Toss Three + Team Standing Tiebreaker

6 Fewest Goals Against Penalties Most Goals Coin Toss A tiebreaker is only used to select one team, after which a new tiebreaker process will be used to select next team. For example, if three teams are tied, the tree-team tiebreaker will be used and one team will win the tiebreaker. The other who team s will become a new tiebreaker and be broken with the two-team tiebreaker rules.
