The Irish are coming off a 10-7 victory over St. John s on Saturday, April 16, which saw them out-score the Red Storm 8-2 in the second half. Sean Rogers leads the team in points, with 20, on 14 goals and six assists. David Earl, who notched a hat trick versus St. John s, has recorded 17 points on 10 goals and seven assists. Earl and Kevin Ridgway are tied for the team lead in caused turnovers, with nine apiece. Liam O Connor and Jake Marmul take the faceoffs. O Connor has won 53-of- 99, while Marmul has won 38-of-71. John Kemp has played all 540 minutes in goal this season for ND, posting a 6.22 goals against average and a.624 save percentage. Earl and Kemp are the reigning BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. The Irish are the least penalized team in the BIG EAST, averaging just 2.00 penalties per game, while they also commit fewer turnovers than any team in the league, averaging per game. Head Coach Kevin Corrigan s squad was picked to finish second in the BIG EAST this year, after reaching the NCAA title game in Providence vs. Notre Dame: The first-ever meeting between the Friars and Irish came last season, in the inaugural year of BIG EAST Lacrosse. The Friars visited Notre Dame s Arlotta Stadium, where the Irish took an 11-3 victory. Then-sophomore Jake Nolan recorded a goal and an assist for the Friars.

2 On-Deck: The Friars hit the road for their final two games, the first coming on Saturday, April 30, when they visit Villanova. Faceoff with the Wildcats is set for 3:00 p.m. PC will conclude the regular season on Saturday, May 7, at Rutgers. Last Time Out: The Providence College lacrosse team saw its second half rally fall short on Tuesday, April 19, falling to Brown, 6-4, at PC s Lennon Family Field. The Friars fell to 3-9, while the Bears improved to 5-7. The Friars got goals from JT Weber (West Hartford, Conn.), Steve Lydon (Braintree, Mass.), Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.) and Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.). Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) recorded two assists, while Daniel Textor (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) recorded one for PC. Senior Jake Goodelman (Wantagh, N.Y.) was phenomenal in goal, making 15 saves on 21 shots on goal, while playing all 60 minutes. Taking To The Big Stage: On April 16, 2011, the Friars played in a professional stadium for the first time in program history, hosting Syracuse as part of the New England Lacrosse Classic at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The home of the New England Patriots (NFL) and New England Revolution (MLS), Gillette Stadium has twice hosted the NCAA Division I Men s Lacrosse Final Four. In 2011, it will host two national quarterfinals, before hosting the NCAA Divsion I, II and III Men s Lacrosse Final Fours in The Friars fell to the Orange, 13-3, after giving the top-ranked team in the nation all it could handle for three quarters. A Tape-delayed broadcast of the game can be seen on Cox Sports on Saturday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. Nolan And Barton Leading The Charge: The Friars are led in points this season by junior Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.) and freshman Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.), who have each registered 21 points on the sason. Nolan leads the team in goals scored, with 12, while adding nine assists. Barton has found the back of the cage seven times, while adding a team-high 14 assists. Freshman Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) is tied for the team lead in points (21) on seven goals and 14 assists. Fellow rookie Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.) is third on the team with 14 points on 11 goals and three assists. Junior Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.) is tied with Barton at 21 points, while senior Evan Helda (Charlotte, N.C.) is third on the team, with 12 points. Better Late Than Never: Senior Jake Goodelman (Wantagh, N.Y.) earned his first-career win in goal on Saturday, April 2, against Lafayette. In just his second-career start, Goodelman made 16 saves to help the Friars to an 8-6 win. The 16 saves tie for the second-most by a BIG EAST goalie this season. St. John s Jeff Lowman holds the highest total, having made 18 saves against Georgetown. For his performance, Goodelman earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor roll. In nine appearances this season, he has played 326:07, posting a 9.38 goals against average and a.568 save percentage. Shaw Controls The Draw: Freshman midfielder Ryan Shaw (East Hampton, N.Y.) ranks in the top-50 nationally in both ground balls per game and faceoff win percentage. Shaw has won 53.4% (63-118) of his faceoffs this season, good for 24th in the nation at the last release of national rankings on April 18. Rutgers Christopher Mattes leads the nation with a.679 win percentage. In addition, Shaw is averaging 3.75 ground balls in 12 games, a total that ranks fourth in the BIG EAST and was 44th in the nation at the last release of NCAA rankings. 2 - FRIAR LACROSSE

3 Barton Tames The Bobcats: Freshman Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 7, following his five-point performance in the Friars 6-5 win over Presbyterian. Barton scored the first game of the goal for PC, then helped the Friars rally for the win by assisting on four-straight goals. The rookie is tied for the team lead in points on the season, with 21 on seven goals and 14 assists Weekly BIG EAST Honors Player Honor Date Ryan Shaw Honor Roll Feb. 28 Andrew Barton Honor Roll March 7 Jake Goodelman Honor Roll April 5 Jake Nolan Honor Roll April 11 Shaw Named To Honor Roll: Freshman midfielder Ryan Shaw (East Hampton, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on February 28 after a performance on faceoffs against Wagner in his collegiate debut. The freshman also picked up a game-high 11 groundballs against the Seahawks. For the season, he has won 63-of-118 faceoffs. Young Friars: Providence is one of the youngest teams in the nation during the 2011 campaign, featuring more freshmen on the roster (21) than sophomores, juniors and seniors, combined (20). The Friars do return their top point and goal scorers from a season ago. Junior midfielder Jake Nolan led the team in 2010 with 16 points (three goals, 13 assists), while senior midfielder Evan Helda led the squad in goals, with Captains: Seniors Mike Feldberg, Steve Lydon and Jake Goodelman will serve as team captains for the 2011 season. Feldberg and Lydon served as captains a season ago, while Goodelman is a captain for the first time. Seniors Evan Helda and Bertan Unal will have leadership roles with the team as the other two members of the senior class. In addition to the seniors, junior Evan Olsen and sophomore Billy Falatko have been named underlcass captains for BIG EAST, Take Two: The 2011 season marks the second of BIG EAST Lacrosse. The Friars are joined in the league by Georgetown, Notre Dame, Rutgers, St. John s, Syracuse and Villanova. The league proved to be among the best in the country in its inaugural season, with Syracuse earning a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament and Notre Dame advancing to the national final.
