1 Rocky Mountain Classic Bantam AAA Hockey Tournament Calgary, Alberta (Nov 16 to Nov 18, 2012) FAQ Sheet Q. Is this a new Bantam AAA tournament? A. Yes, for the first time ever, the North West Calgary Athletic Association (NWCAA) will be hosting a premier bantam AAA hockey tournament. This will be an annual event and it is NWCAA s vision to grow this tournament equivalent to the Mac s Midget AAA hockey tournament. Sixteen (16) highly competitive teams will be taking part this year. Q. Will all games be played at Winsport Canada (WSC)? A. Yes, all games will be played at WSC (please see attached Exhibit A for details). WSC is a world class facility with four rinks. The international rink can accommodate fans in great spectator seats (no bad seat in the building). WSC regularly hosts major hockey events including the 2012 IIHF World Juniors hockey tournament. Address: 88 Canada Olympic Road SW Q. Is Hockey Canada s Head Office located at Winsport Canada? A. Yes, Hockey Canada is located at WSC. For this tournament, Hockey Canada has offered to lead facility tours for all participating teams. Please make sure to bring your cameras. Tours will be scheduled after specified team ice times (time to be confirmed during the tournament). We are trying to make space for parents and siblings, but we can t make promises at this time. Q. Are there spectator entry fees? A. Absolutely not, the more fans that show up the better and we welcome all spectators to cheer hard!!!! However, we would appreciate your support by visiting our raffle table and participating in our 50/50 draws. Please note programs will be available at a small fee to cover printing costs. Q. Are there parking fees? A. No, please see attached Exhibit B for parking details. There is also information on bus parking (including player drop off locations).

2 Q. What is the schedule? A. Be ready for an action packed three (3) days of hockey. All teams are guaranteed to play five (5) games (3 x 20 minute periods). Games will start Friday (Nov 16, 2012) morning and the last game will be completed at 3.30 pm on Sunday (Nov 18, 2012). Each team will play two (2) games Friday and Saturday and at least one (1) game on Sunday. The final schedule will shared by November 1, 2012 (at the latest). Q. What about skate sharpening/repairs? A. Breakaway sports repair is located in WSC and will be open daily from 8 am to 10 pm (including Sunday). Please ask for Gus and he will take of you. Gus has over thirty (30) years of experience and has been involved in outfitting and serving hockey players in Calgary and around the world. Gus was the Head Equipment Manager for Calgary Flames (1999 to 2010). Q. What is policy in regards to mouth guards? A. All players, except goaltenders, must wear mouth guards at all times. Mouths guards must be colored. A player on the ice without a mouth guard in his or her mouth will receive a two minute minor penalty plus a ten minute misconduct penalty. The mouth guard also has to be worn properly at all times. If not, the player will receive a two minute minor penalty plus a ten minute misconduct penalty. This rule will strongly be enforced by the referee. No exceptions. Q. What happens if we get hungry? A. There are many great restaurants close to WSC. There is a Subway, Opa, Wendy s, Coffee Cafes, etc., located just north of WSC (2 minutes away). Crowfoot Village is also less than 10 minutes and includes many restaurants and grocery stores (Safeway and CO-OP).For those who want to stay at WSC, there is a restaurant and fully licensed bar available. Please drink responsibly.

3 Q. What can we do besides hockey at WSC? A. WSC is located at Canada Olympic Park and the ski hill is scheduled to open on November 16, 2012 (first day of the tournament). Please phone guest services for more details: or SNOW (7669) for the latest information. For more of a thrill, you can try the bobsleigh ride that is open year round. The Canada Sports Hall of Fame is also located adjacent to WSC (a must to visit). Q. How should we dress for Calgary? A. Your guess is as good as ours. The weather temperature could change from +20 to -20 C in any given hour. Welcome to the world of the famous Chinook Winds. Q. What else can we expect? A. Just enjoy some good hockey and whatever Calgary and surrounding areas can offer. We look forward to meeting everyone and please travel safe. All the best!
