SWITCH SIDES HALF WAY THRU THE DRILL. 3. CALGARY SHOOTING DRILL D1 SKATES FORWARD TO THE CONE, PIVOTS, AND TURNS TO PICK UP A PUCK IN THE CORNER. D1 CARRIES THE PUCK AROUND THE GOAL - WHEEL AND PASSES TO D2. LOOK OVER THE NET AS YOU ARE CARRYING THE PUCK. THIS ALLOWS YOU TO COLLECT INFO AND SEE THE ICE. D1 TAKES THE PLACE OF D2. SWITCH SIDES HALF WAY THRU THE DRILL. 1
2 4. ESCAPE SHOOTING DRILL SET UP TWO CONES AS SHOWN. SKATE WITH A PUCK AND PIVOT AROUND THE CONES. WHEN YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR SECOND CIRCLE DO AN ESCAPE MOVE AT THE TOP CONE. TAKE A SHOT ON GOAL. CHANGE DIRECTIONS ON YOUR NEXT TURN. VARIATION: SET UP 2 NETS ON THE GOAL LINE CENTERED ON THE FACEOFF DOTS AND RUN 2 STATIONS. 5. KEEP THE PUCK IN COACH CHIPS A PUCK OFF THE GLASS TO D1. D1 KNOCKS IT DOWN AND PASSES TO D2. D2 SHOOTS. COACH HARD RIMS A PUCK AROUND. D2 MOVES LATERALLY TO KEEP IT IN AND PASSES TO D1. D1 SHOOTS. COACH SETS UP IN THE OTHER CORNER AFTER A FEW REPS. NOTE: WHEN SHOOTING, SURROUND THE PUCK IF YOU RECEIVE IT ON YOUR FOREHAND CORNER 1 V 1 SET UP 4 PLAYERS AS FORWARDS AS SHOWN. ONE D STARTS IN THE SLOT. COACH PASSES TO ONE OF THE FOUR FORWARDS. D MUST GAP UP AND PLAY THE FORWARD 1 V 1 FOR 5-6 SECONDS UNTIL THE COACH YELLS NEW PUCK. COACH WILL THEN PASS TO ANOTHER PLAYER. REPEAT UNTIL ALL THE D HAS PLAYED 1 V1 AGAINST ALL THE FORWARDS. 7. CORNER SMALL AREA GAME PLAY 1 V 1, 1 V 1 W/ACTIVATION, OR 2 V 2. MOVE THE NET INTO THE DOT FOR 1 V SECOND SHIFTS. ON CHANGE OF POSSESSION TEAMS MUST TAG UP TO A RESTING TEAMMATE. COACH WILL PUT A NEW PUCK IN PLAY IF A GOAL IS SCORED, THE GOALIE FREEZES THE PUCK, OR IF THE PUCK LEAVES THE PLAYING AREA. 8. BATTLE SMALL AREA GAME 2
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
