In the final, top-seeded Loyola College rolled to a 12-5 win over second seed Old Dominion University. Loyola took a 10-1 lead and never looked back. Tournament MVP Suzanne Eyler and Jaclyn Barrone each had three goals and two assists to pace LC, while Hensil netted two goals for the Lady Monarchs. The Greyhounds now hold a career mark of 2-22 against Maryland. Loyola has made seven straight appearances, and three of those times it has lost to the Terrapins to end its season. In Thursday s loss, the Greyhounds got off to a slow start, as five different Terps scored within the first 11 minutes of play en route to an 8-3 Maryland lead at the half. Loyola came out strong in the second half as Suzanne Eyler fired an unassisted shot past the goalie to cut the Terps lead to four at 26:04. Stacey Morlang followed with a free-position goal at 23:50 to put the Greyhounds within three. After a Maryland goal, Loyola gained possession off the draw as Jaclyn Borrone found Stephanie Walker who fired a behind-the-back goal to put the Greyhounds within three again at 13:19. The Terps, however, capitalized off of Loyola s turnovers and missed shots and recorded four more goals to gain a 13-8 victory over Loyola and advance to the NCAA quarterfinals. Morlang and Eyler led the team with three goals apiece, and Walker and Rachel Shuck each contributed a goal.
