2 LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES We have a lot of things to share with you in this newsletter so please take some time to read through and let us know if you have any questions or input. Enjoy! Although we are happy with four highly competitive teams we had hopes of being able to expand the league to six teams or add a second division this year. But the signup rate is still not where it needs to be for this to become a reality. Please help us continue to spread the word and encourage your hockey friends to sign up for next season and beyond. SHL SIAM HOCKEY LEAGUE BANGKOK MESSAGE FROM SCOTT MURRAY Welcome to the 2018-19 season.

These two teams battled it out in a thrilling one-game winner-take-all SHL championship final last year, which Hertz won 5-3, thanks to a Herculean effort from goalkeeper Lance Parker.

We also welcome Caley Steinert, our second fulltime female player, to the league as well as a number of players from the Thai National Team.

3 SHL SIAM HOCKEY LEAGUE BANGKOK MESSAGE FROM SCOTT MURRAY Welcome to the season. We are pleased to welcome back Hertz, our reigning champions, as well as our other returning team sponsor AWARE group. These two teams battled it out in a thrilling one-game winner-take-all SHL championship final last year, which Hertz won 5-3, thanks to a Herculean effort from goalkeeper Lance Parker. New team sponsors this year include TRUE Hockey, replacing Expedia, as well as Novotel Hotel & Resorts Sukhumvit 20, partnering up to continue the rich legacy of the Spitfires. We also welcome Caley Steinert, our second fulltime female player, to the league as well as a number of players from the Thai National Team. Special thanks to The Sport Corner for continuing on as our Platinum League Sponsor and our draft party will be held there on Saturday October 6th at 4pm. All are welcome to attend. A huge thanks to Dom Dumais for keeping the SHL running smoothly. Also, a big thank you to SHL photographer Tadamasa Nagayama, whose son Hideki is playing hockey in Germany this season. Tadamasa has been the SHL photographer for the past two years; all those fantastic SHL action images you see come from his lens and he will continue to snap away this year. This year we are also proud to be commencing with our first green initiatives, improving our social media presence and reaching out to partners that can provide our players with special benefits. EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR FROM ALL The expectation on everyone involved in SHL is to behave in a fair and responsible manner, refraining from behaviours that are disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or

6 EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR FROM ALL The expectation on everyone involved in SHL is to behave in a fair and responsible manner, refraining from behaviours that are disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist. The league will not tolerate behaviour that constitutes harassment or abuse or bullying. We ask that everyone involved in the league avoid behaviour which brings SHL and/or the sport of ice hockey into disrepute. Don't engage in behaviour that endangers the safety of others, also at all times adhere to the rules and regulations at The Rink, the Central Rama IX shopping centre and nearby buildings. Ten rules for all players and league members to live by: 1) Be grateful for the opportunity to play ice hockey in Thailand. 2) Play clean; everyone generally has to work the next day. 3) Remain unselfish; change to keep the lines together, play fair. 4) Buy your own tape and beer, always share generously. 5) Respect the referees, without them there will be no game. 6) Stay mature and professional; online, on and off the ice. 7) Always support our sponsors, they help pay for your hobby. 8) Be on time and notify well in advance in case of absence. 9) Appreciate the work put in by the management of the league. 10) Have fun, never play under influence, always drink responsibly. We have not increased the fee for fulltime or substitute players since the inaugural season, but as you can see below we are also not at a position where we can lower it further at the moment. We are extremely proud to work together with professional ice hockey player, Johnny Oduya, on the initiative to help grow ice hockey in Thailand and make playing time affordable for Thais. Make sure you attend the draft party on October 6 th to hear about two IIHF rule changes and the latest updates for how our game will be officiated in the third season.
