1 65 VENDORS SOLD 1331 HEAD OF STOCK THROUGH THRAPSTON MARKET THIS WEEK - 16TH FEBRUARY 2015 REPORT ON SATURDAY 14TH FEBRUARY Sheep Sold at 10.30am What a cracking entry of store sheep for the time of year. Suffolk cross Mule lambs from Woodview Farm sold to (we have the in-lambers next week) then the best of the stores were 68 plus. HC & A Reynolds & Son made 75.20, 70.80, 70 and 69.80, JH Jones & Sons 72, RA Beechener & Partners 71.80, JA Swindler 71.50, NG & LM Middleton 70 and JC & JS Helliwell 70. There were a few longer keep sorts from 44 and some medium types 55 to 65. Plenty of demand, have you got any for next week? Store Cattle Cows and 193 Stores What a trade! This was a super show and we could have sold twice as many, with more buyers not having anything than those that did. Off to a wonderful start with a very smart Limousin heifer, with an equally good heifer calf at foot, from Nick Sansom, making Then several empty feeding type cows, J & MJ Vaughan had 780, H Smith 875 and W Bass 610 and a Dexter cow from S Congreve made 285 and an in-calf heifer from Richard Fountaine made 780.

2 The stores started in good form with J Beesley having 1000 for 10 month Limousin steers and 890 for Charolais steers, D Self had 905 and 840 for Limousin steers and heifers, 9-14 months. C Charles & Son had 840 and 800 for Angus steers months and 505 for similar heifers, J & MJ Vaughan got to 1100 with Limousin steers, 23 months, 905 with yearling steers and 780 with heifers. A super pen of Limousin steers, months, from Hales Contractors made 1190, AB & P Nightingale had 1280 for Charolais steers, 22 months. David Hancock sold a grand load of cattle, Hereford steers 21 months 1280, Limousin steers 1285, 1225, 1200 and 1130, Simmental steers 1225, Charolais steers 1185, 1150 and 1065, 9-10 months, and Limousin heifers A cracking run from SG Knott & Son saw Limousin steers to 1150 and Herefords 1035, all months. Glen Holgate sold his very useful run of Continental steers, with Limousins to 1190 and 25 month Jersey steers to 980. Angus heifers from M & H Bateman made 900, J Seal had 31 month Hereford steers to 1005 and 23 months to 985 and we finished in flying form with IS & NK Johnson having 22 month Limousin steers at 1350, 1345, 1335 and 1300 and TB Brown selling Saler steers at 1350 and The last lot of the day, Simmental steers, 28 months, from J & D Bavington making On this trade why look to go anywhere else than Thrapston! 3 REPORT ON THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY Prime Cattle - 2 A pair of very good heifers today from Nick Sansom, Limousins at 247p and 228p. We always want cattle, all classes, so please let us know if you have some to sell. Prime Sheep Sold at 10am We actually penned about 150 more than what was entered on Wednesday. It is important to let us know by 6.00pm on Wednesday what you are sending, so we can give potential purchasers an accurate guide of what will be on offer. Generally this week we have seen an increase in number and a drop in price. Our SQQ was 179p, well in line with other quotes for the week. We had several grand consignments of hoggs, which sold to 192p on 3 occasions for HG Robinson & Sons Ltd 36.5kgs, J & S White Farms Ltd 43kgs and WH & IM Butcher & Son 45kgs with the latter all root and corn fed and belly clipped.
