2 About Valera Vale We are breeders of commercial Droughtmaster cattle underpinned by the genetics of our bull breeding operation. As such we are well aware of the profit drivers in the beef industry and realise that a functional breeder herd achieving high survival and calving rates is the main determinant of profitability in breeder and breeder/fattener enterprises We don t waste selection pressure on anything that isn t related to dollars for a commercial operation. High levels of breeder performance and environmental adaptation are intrinsically linked because only functional cows are able to maintain body condition to survive, lactate, cycle and fall pregnant in our too often challenging environment. Our cows are run under strictly commercial management conditions so that we can select the genetics that will be profitable for our commercial clients, and are expected to present a healthy calf for branding each year after a fourteen week joining period during which it may or may not rain. The bulls we offer you are the product of these efficient females. We do not believe in over-preparing our bulls and often face discrimination in the market place because of it. We put too much effort into breeding our cattle to wreck them by overfeeding and the result is bulls that have a reputation for being able to adapt to any of the conditions experienced throughout Northern Australia. Our auction bulls are prepared at Muan at Biggenden on a silage ration. Len Gibbs and his crew are the masters at safely preparing bulls without compromising their current and future health. Thank you to Len and Sandra Gibbs and their team for an outstanding job. We guarantee our bulls in both the short and long term as will be attested by our long term clients. If one of our bulls does not perform to your standards we need to know so that we can fix the problem.

4 Health The Valera Vale herds are all BJD Check Tested (we ve just completed our 12th Check Test). The Herd has JBAS 7 status and is WA eligible so all buyers can make decisions with the confidence that these standards are being met. The bulls have been comprehensively vaccinated against the 5 main Clostridial diseases, and Leptospirosis, Vibriosis, Tick Fever, 3 Day Sickness and Botulism. They are tested free of Pestivirus persistent infection and the Genetic Pompes Disease. This inherited wasting disease is present in all Bos indicus and Bos Indicus derived breeds but is recessive so by pro-actively testing our bulls we can guarantee none of their progeny will develop Pompes disease regardless of the genetics of the breeders they are mated to. The bulls have been Bull Breeding Soundness Evaluated (BBSE) to ACV standards by experienced independant accredited cattle Veterinarian, Dr Paul Vetter BVSc. They have also been laboratory sperm morphology assessed.

12 Valera Vale is located between Augathella and Charleville in SW Qld. The homestead and Station Yards are 12 km up the formed gravel VALERA VALE ROAD which runs north west from the Mitchell Highway between Charleville with Augathella. The turnoff is just south of the Warrego River bridges approximately 43 km from both Charleville and Augathella. There are daily air services by Qantas and Rex Aviation to Charleville from Brisbane. We will gladly meet any flights and arrange transport. Airstrip There is a 1000m grass/gravel airstrip with windsock running 065/245 at the Homestead. Co-ordinates: S E Elevation 1115Ft There is a SWER powerline between the Homestead and the 065 threshold

13 All the bulls will be at "Muan" Biggenden until 1st September and inspection is invited with phone bidding available for anyone not able to travel west. As usual, Valera Vale offers FREE DELIVERY to any major centre in Qld (including Mt Isa, Charters Towers, Birdsville, and South East Qld) on all bulls purchased at the sale. For buyers outside Qld as an alternative to free delivery, bulls travelling to WA or NT will receive $250 and to NSW $150 per bull Freight Rebate to assist with their trip home. Please ensure delivery instructions are clear as outside carriers may be used. Bulls are at the purchaser s risk from the fall of the hammer and insurance is recommended.
