1 NEWS RELEASE University of Illinois Extension DeKalb County 4-H 1350 West Prairie Drive Sycamore, IL (815) For Immediate Release Nicole Groezinger 4-H Program Coordinator 2015 DeKalb County 4-H Fair Show Results The 2015 DeKalb County 4-H Fair took place on July 31, August 1, & 2 at the Sandwich Fairgrounds, with over H members exhibiting their 4-H livestock projects. The three-day event went extremely well and all of our participants did an outstanding job show and exhibiting their animals, said Nicole Groezinger, 4-H Program Coordinator at the University of Illinois Extension. 5 Showmanship Sweepstakes Audrey Harrod from the Hinckley Harvestors 4-H Club was named our top showman of showmen in the Showmanship Sweepstake contest. This contest takes the senior showmanship winners from the dairy, goat, beef, sheep and swine departments and has them compete against each other in each of those animal areas. Audrey was selected as this year s recipient based on his performance in showing all four of these different kinds of animals. Audrey was representing the goat department in this competition. Other participants included Sandwich Town and County Kids 4-H member Jackie Marco from the beef department, Bailey Martenson from Shabbona Pioneers from the swine department and Nick Roach from Malta Mustangs from the sheep department. As a result of this competition Audrey Harrod competed at the Illinois State Fair s Master Showmanship Contest representing DeKalb County. Special thanks goes out to Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) for sponsoring the rental of the Sandwich Fairgrounds for our 4-H Fair, as well as the rental of the public address system for all of our livestock shows and auction. Another thank you also goes out to Bend Insurance for covering the cost of a tent for our 4-H Federation foodstand. All of these contributions help to make the 4-H fair a huge success for all of our participants, said Groezinger. ###
