This Saturday Beef Weigh-In Callaway Livestock Center 8:00am-10:00am $10 fee per head Shooting Sports Safety Training will be offered at the extension office on Feb.10 (6pm-9pm) & Feb. 11 (9am-12pm) and also on March 17 (6pm-9pm) & March 18 (9am-12pm) Sarah Rohrbach rohrbachs@missouri.edu Callaway County 4-H Youth Program Assistant If this is your 1st year in shooting sports you can not shoot without attending this class (6 hours needed.) Project meetings will be starting soon! Project Update Beef Weigh in is January 21st from 8am-10am at the Callaway Sale Barn, there is a $10 fee per weigh in. This fee goes towards the buyers dinner. ***Countywide beef meeting will be February 9 at 6:30pm at Kingdom Feed in Fulton. Food and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP to Darrel at kingdomfeed@ktis.net by February 3. Exploring the Treasures of 4-H-This project will be offered county wide at the extension office on February 18 & March 18 from 8:30am-11:30am. Please let Sarah know if you can attend. Move Across America-This state wide project is back. MOVE promotes a broad range of physical activity for both youth and adults. Enroll for the project under HF775 in the 4H online profile. If your club is interested in having a member be a health officer which coordinates healthy snacks and games and activities that promote movement let Sarah know. County Happenings 2nd Annual Callaway County 4-H 5K Run/Walk-Steve Hartman has volunteered to organize our 4-H 5K run/walk in New Bloomfield on April 1, Please mark your calendars for this event. This is one of our large county fundraisers! This counts as community service for your member in good standing sheet if you would like to work at the event. Contact terrieculwell@gmail.com for more information. 4-H Day with the Kansas City Royals-Attention all Royals fans 4H day will be held on September 8, The Royals vs. Twins game will be $40 a ticket if signed up by April 15 or $60 a ticket if signed up by July 15. Ticket includes t-shirt and raffles. Form is attached at the bottom of the newsletter. State Happenings Shooting Sports Leader Certification Workshop-If you are interested in becoming a certified shooting sports leader there will be a workshop held in Clinton, MO at CampLifeChange on March There is an $80 fee. The website is shooting-sports-leader-certification. State Meats Judging Contest-February 25 at UMC Eckles Hall, Meat Lab. There is a $20 per member fee. Please register for this event through 4-H online. The top senior team will advance to the national competition. Show Me Equine Summit Competitive Horse Judging 101-Join us on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the National Equestrian Center in Lake St. Louis. See attached flyer and registration form for more details. CYE A 4-H representative is needed on the Callaway Youth Expo board. This person needs to come to the expo meetings held the 4th Thursday of each month at 7:00pm and be the liaison between the youth expo board and 4H. If you are interested let David Reid know at reidlawn@hotmail.com and the extension office at rohrbachs@missouri.edu Missouri 4-H Equine Tour-This clinic is headed to Oklahoma and Texas from May This years tour has unique itinerary to help youth explore the diverse equine industry indigenous to the destinations. The tour will focus on the rodeo industry, tours of top quarter horse ranches, the Cowboy Hall of Fame, and visits to education institutions. The $600 tour fee includes bus transportations, tours, hotels, most meals, tour t- shirt, travel bag and other costs. Please visit equine-tour/equineregist or call Debbie Davis at for more details. Missouri Youth Civic Leader Summit More than Magic -The Missouri Youth Civic Leaders Summit is a statewide energizer for teams of teens and adults who are engaged in leadership and service through local 4-H clubs, councils, afterschool programs, community betterment groups, municipal or countywide efforts. Teams are made up of teens ages and at least one adult team leader. Register by February 1, Summit is March 3-5 at Windermere Conference Center. For more information visit Frank Graham Leadership Award Nomination-Is there a special volunteer you would like to recognize statewide. The Missouri 4-H Foundation is sponsoring the Frank Graham Leadership Award. The form is attached at the bottom of the newsletter and is due by January 31 to 4hfoundation@missouri.edu.
