1 1 MISSOURI STATE 4-H COUNCIL REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE APPLICATION The Missuri State 4-H Cuncil is an elected bdy f 4-H yuth wh serve fr ne year. Cuncil members help plan and carry ut State 4-H Cngress and State 4-H Teen Cnference. They represent Missuri 4-H at natinal, reginal, and state events, dnating vlunteer hurs at the Missuri State Fair, State 4-H Cntest Days, and ther 4-H events. Cuncil members are ambassadrs and spkespersns fr Missuri 4-H. Three yuth frm eight Extensin Regins are elected as Reginal Representatives each year. Other members f the Cuncil are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and fur State Representatives. Electins are held in June each year during State 4-H Cngress. Yuth must attend State 4-H Cngress in rder t run fr a psitin n the Cuncil and must attend all Cuncil meetings nce elected. Anyne missing mre than tw Cuncil meetings will be deactivated and mved t an Alternate Representative status. QUALIFICATION: Any 4-H participant, age n January 1 f the electin year, may apply t be a candidate fr Reginal Representative. The 4-H er must meet the age requirements listed abve, must be currently enrlled in a 4-H prgram, in gd standing in their lcal 4-H club r unit, and have cmpleted the previus year f 4-H wrk. Candidates will be selected n the fllwing basis: 40% 4-H experience; 50% persnal interview; 10% recmmendatin by cunty Extensin Staff. COST: The Cuncil meets 5-6 times per year in weekend meetings. Ldging and sme meals are prvided. All ther expenses are the 4-H member s respnsibility. Cuncil members must attend the entire State 4-H Cngress the year f their electin and the fllwing year. Members will be expected t pay their wn State 4-H Cngress registratin fees and t purchase a unifrm. HOW TO APPLY: Reginal Representatives will be selected thrugh the fllwing prcess: December/January Eligible 4-H members will submit an applicatin frm and letter t their Cunty Yuth Specialist r Yuth Educatin Assistant. The letter shuld state why they want t serve n the State 4-H Cuncil and give a summary f their qualificatins. February Reginal Representative Applicatin and Recmmendatin Frm frm cunty s 4-H Yuth Specialist r Yuth Prgram Assistant are due t that regin s pint-f-cntact, wh is respnsible fr scheduling and facilitating reginal interviews. Fr Lincln University Extensin applicants the pint-f-cntact will be a faculty member frm LU Extensin, regardless f the regin the applicant resides in. A schedule fr reginal interviews is created and sent t all applicants by the pint-f-cntact. March Interviews held in each regin. All applicants must interview in persn. If an extreme circumstance prevents a candidate frm attending the interview, a makeup interview may be scheduled at the discretin f the regin pintf-cntact and the cunty s Yuth Specialist r Yuth Prgram Assistant. Three t nine candidates will be selected per regin. March 15 The regin s pint-f-cntact sends all applicatins t the State 4-H Office, clearly identifying which were selected and nt selected. The regin s pint-f-cntact then ntifies all applicants as t whether they were selected t run fr reginal representative psitins. Sample letters fr bth are available n the s:\ drive. Candidates must register fr State 4-H Cngress thrugh their Cunty Extensin Center befre May 1. June State 4-H Cngress (June 2-4, 2010) - Candidates will be intrduced at Reginal caucuses. Candidates will give campaign speeches and reginal electins will be held. Installatin f new members will take place the final mrning f State 4-H Cngress.
