I am very excited about joining your Cooperative Extension team in Garvin County. I look forward to visiting with you and gaining new ideas and friendships. For those of you who don't know me, I have lived in Garvin County most of my life and am now raising my children here. In 2008 I received my Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from East Central University and for the past year in a half I've been involved with nutrition education. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and keeping physically fit. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. 2 ATTENTION 4-HERS INTERESTED IN THE IN THE HORSE PROJECT The Garvin County 4-H Horse Club will be holding a re-organizational meeting on Tuesday, August 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pauls Valley Roundup Club Arena. This meeting will be to get the 4-H horse club started up again. All who are interested in their children participating in the 4-H horse project are welcome and encouraged to attend. For more information please call the Extension Office at The Garvin County Free Fair Horse Show will be held on August 28 at the Pauls Valley Rodeo grounds. The horse show is open to all Garvin County residents. The show will begin at 9:00 a.m. and all participants must present proof of negative coggins test on each horse. The horse show will be followed by a jackpot barrel race sponsored by the Pauls Valley Roundup Club. Important Reminders Regarding Both State Fairs - In order to be eligible to show in a Junior Show at Oklahoma City or Tulsa, exhibitors must have turned 9 years old and have a 4-H enrollment card on file in the Extension Office on or before July 1, July 1 was the Tulsa Nomination Deadline for Sheep, Goats and Barrows - 4-H and FFA Entries must be done online by the Extension Office or the Ag Ed Teacher. Entry Deadlines: OK State Fair - August 16 Tulsa State Fair - August 27 - Ok State Fair Dress Code: Exhibitors must dress with pride in clean pressed jeans, clean shirt with collar and club emblem (4-H or FFA). 4-H and FFA jackets are acceptable but not required. T- shirts, tennis shoes, and headwear are not allowed. - Tulsa 4-H & FFA Dress Code: All junior exhibitors will be required to wear appropriate dress representing their organization. FFA: Official FFA jacket, clean pressed jeans, clean shirt with collar, regulation FFA tie and white shirts optional. 4-H: Official 4-H jacket that is dark or kelly green in color, with a 4-H Clover (green with white H s) either on the back, that is no smaller than seven inches and/or on the front that is at least three inches in size, clean, pressed jeans, clean shirt with collar, tie or scarf optional. NOTICE: If Show Management declares the temperature too warm for exhibitor to wear official 4-H or FFA jackets, the exhibitor must wear a solid clean white shirt with solid white collar and the shirt must have either a 4-H or FFA emblem visible. NO EXCEPTIONS * If you have questions read the Tulsa and Oklahoma State Fair rules and call the Extension Office.

3 2010 Garvin County Fair Entry, Judging & Carnival Schedule PLEASE NOTE: ALL LIVESTOCK WILL REMAIN AT FAIR GROUNDS UNTIL THE COMPLETION OF CATTLE JUDGING 5 p.m. (time approximate - after completion of cattle judging) SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 2010 Wednesday, August 18 9 a.m. 7 p.m. Fair entries will be accepted in the East building with the exception of livestock. Baked goods, Wheatheart baking entries, fresh flowers, and fresh flower arrangements may also be entered from 8 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 19 (these are the ONLY exceptions no other East building entries will be accepted Thursday). 7 p.m. East building closed Thursday, August a.m. Baked goods, Wheatheart baking entries, fresh flowers, and fresh flower arrangement entries accepted in East building (may also be entered 9a.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18). 10 a.m. 1 p.m. Closed Judging of entries in East building.
