Demand was good for all alfalfa offerings. Demand especially good from beef producers. Prices mostly steady. Moderate to heavy rains fell nearly statewide this week. For central Oklahoma this will go down as the wettest August on record. Rain and muddy conditions have brought fieldwork to a standstill and made loading and hauling hay difficult. Producers are hoping the much needed rains will result in another cutting of alfalfa and grass hay. Receipts this week consisted of 100 percent over 600 lbs and 5048 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 8-12 cent slide on calves and 4-8 cent slide on yearlings from base weights.
