Demand was good for all alfalfa offerings. Demand especially good from beef producers. Prices mostly steady. Moderate to heavy rains fell nearly statewide this week. For central Oklahoma this will go down as the wettest August on record. Rain and muddy conditions have brought fieldwork to a standstill and made loading and hauling hay difficult. Producers are hoping the much needed rains will result in another cutting of alfalfa and grass hay. Alfalfa Central Oklahoma: Supreme quality large square bales Premium quality Good quality large square and large round bales Fair quality Grinding hay mostly Eastern Oklahoma: No sales reported. Western Oklahoma: Supreme quality large square bales Premium quality large square bales Good quality bunk hay Grinding hay mostly Grass Hay Central Oklahoma: Good quality Bermuda grass in 4 X 6 through 5 X 6 bales Good quality mixed grass hay 4 X 5 and 5 X 5 bales per bale. Mixed grass per ton, mostly Western Oklahoma: Good quality mixed grass round bales per ton. Mixed grass 5 X 5 1/2 to 5 X 6 bales per bale. Oklahoma Direct Feeder Cattle Trade Receipts: 1,974 Last Week 2,806 Last Year 2,603 Compared to last week: Few comparable sales of feeder steers and heifers were mostly lower. Receipts this week consisted of 100 percent over 600 lbs and 5048 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 8-12 cent slide on calves and 4-8 cent slide on yearlings from base weights.
