2 Mid Winter Ball February 8, 2015 Thirty four people attended the Mid Winter Ball. Voting was held for the best dressed cowgirl and cowboy. The winners were Annie Dote and Tuscarora Slim. The runners up were Connie and Letort Lawman. The following agenda items were discussed and voted upon Financial Report - Annie Dote gave the end of year financial report for See detailed report attached. Buckle Bob motioned that the report be accepted as read. Letort Lawman seconded the motion. The motion passed. Starting year balance $ Income for year Expenses for year Ending year balance $ Spring work day, March 21 and, if needed, March 28 Work day will start at 8:30 AM. If we get 12 to 18 people, the work day scheduled for March 23 may not be needed. Letort Lawman asked those coming to bring rakes, shovel, and other tools. Projects planned for the day are: A. Clean and paint floor of fort and porch of hotel B. Fix handicap port-a-john door (wind damaged) C. Clean bays D. Reset targets E. Move tables 3. Range Improvements A. Work on road to range Previous discussion was held and estimates gotten to put a drainage ditch down the hill to the ponds to help alleviate washing of the road. Estimates were $ without a quarry blend cap and $ with a quarry blend cap. Last fall, quarry blend was put on the road and has been holding very well. Buckle Bob feels that we can alleviate most of the problem by putting in a couple more water breaks at the top near bays 1 and 2 and near the block house, also additional quarry blend on the road to help build it up. Estimated cost is $ Tuscarora Slim felt that the Ickesburg Sportsmen would share in this expense. Buckle Bob motioned that, if the Ickesburg Sportsmen paid part, the Regulators pay up to $ toward the cost of the upgrade. Shifty Canuk seconded the motion. The motion passed. If the Ickesburg Sportsmen says no to the shared cost, this topic will be revisited. B. New shotgun targets Letort Lawman is building 8 new shotgun knock-down targets. Gunpeddler Ron is cutting them out of steel that is no longer used on the range. C. Permanent loading/unloading tables where possible. This is a multi-year project. Buckle Bob was previously asked to provide estimates for building permanent loading/unloading tables with storage area underneath on stages where it did not interfere with the other target backs. He provided two options: 1. Concrete base with cinder block walls, steel doors and pressure treated tops. Estimated cost without labor was $ per table. 2. Tables made entirely out of 5/4 pressure treated materials. Estimated cost $ per table. Letort Lawman motioned that we use the second option and limit the cost for 2015 to $ Coroner seconded the motion. The motion passed. Gunpeddler Ron stated that he will donated rubber roofing material to cover the tops of the tables. There are steel I beams at the range that may be able to be used in the wooden construction. It was approved to continue to develop this plan. One improvement for the future will be roofs over the tables. 4. Empty Saddle Shoot A. Who will receive the donation? Annie Dote motioned that we support the Arielle Rudasill Leukemia fund again this year. Little Arielle is doing very well. She is starting to walk now. However, there are still many expenses associated with her treatment. Butch McCandles seconded the motion. The motion passed. B. Perry County Food Bank? We will again do a drive to benefit the Food Bank. For each 5 non-perishable food items or each $5.00 donation, you will receive a Dag-Nab-It good a 5 second bonus on any stage. The food items and any money received will go to the Food Bank. 5. Smoke on the Ridge SASS is requiring a $5.00 per shooter fee be paid to them for any state level or above shoot. It was previously approved that we pass this fee onto the shooter. However, Young Guns and Buckaroos/Buckarettes will be exempt from this fee and remain the same. The following were discussed A. Paint lower targets after each posse B. Ask Scouts to pick up brass C. Ask Scouts to cook breakfast & lunch
3 D. Plaques Use same keystone shaped plaques as last year and have the same engraver do them. E. Ad swap with Eastern Shore Renegades Tuscarora Slim will work with them for the ad swap. F. Ad on SASS wire Slim Chance Pistolero will put the ad for the black powder shoot on the SASS wire. Tuscarora Slim will put the application on the web site and send out to the club contacts and members. 6. Cow Camp The following were discussed: A. Paint lower targets after each posse B. Ask Scouts to pick up brass C. Ask Scouts to cook breakfast Saturday & Sunday D. Tea Room will cater Saturday evening meal. The menu will be the same as last year. E. Cost of meal is $ It was decided to keep the price to the shooter at $13.00 to cover tax and tip. 7. Lever vs single shot for long range Rules for the long range will be changed as follows: Single shot rifles may be loaded ON THE FIRING LINE before the timer starts. Once loaded, the firearms MAY NOT LEAVE THE SHOOTER S HANDS. Letort Lawman will rewrite the long range scenarios to shoot the long range first. This will bring the time for single shot vs lever more in line. 8. Special events A. Perry County Youth Field Day This year s event will be held at the Duncannon Sportsmen s Assoc on June 13. We will need help for that day. Buckle Bob motioned that we make a donation equal to last years ($200). Shifty Canuk seconded the motion. The motion passed. Slim Chance Pistolero will check on ammo. B. Shermans Valley Heritage Days We will again do a display at the Heritage Days on October 9, 10, and 11, Buckle Bob will coordinate the people working the event. C. Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days We received an invitation to set up a display at the event to be held on June 20. These Heritage Days are held along Route 75 south of East Waterford in Juniata County. We would provide our own awnings, tables and electricity. It was decided to do the display. Buckboard Willie nominated by Letort Lawman and seconded by Annie Dote. Shifty Canuk nominated by Gunpeddler Ron and seconded by Buckle Bob. Shifty Canuk was elected to fill the term of Cowboy Curley. 10. Port-a-john cleaning for 2015 Associated Products bid the same as last year. They have done a great job in the past. Letort Lawman motioned that we use Associated Products again in Buckle Bob seconded the motion. The motion passed. 11. Donate unused paper goods and plastic ware to Scouts We have a lot of paper products and plastic ware in the shed. It was left from when we prepared the Cow Camp Saturday evening meal. The Tea Room now supplies everything we need. Annie Dote motioned that we donate these items to the Scouts. Shifty Canuk seconded the motion. The motion passed. Other discussion items: It was approved for PCR to be a side match sponsor again this year at the state match hosted by El Posse Grande. The question was asked where cap and ball revolvers could be loaded. Letort Lawman stated that the cylinders could be loaded with powder and ball anywhere, preferably an unused stage; however, the caps CANNOT be placed on the nipples until the shooter is at the loading bench. A point of caution was made to watch the muzzle of the firearm while loading. If it sweeps someone, it may lead to a DQ. 9. Select a new advisor to replace Cowboy Curley. Curley has move to Myrtle Beach and resigned as an advisor. The following nominations were made:
