3 Department 2 Dairy Cattle RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All entries shall follow General Rules and Regulations of the Hookstown Fair. A stall fee of $5 per head is required with registration. No refunds for no show cattle exhibits. If an animal to be exhibited becomes sick a refund may be granted if a slip is obtained from a vet. 2. When livestock housing is full capacity, entries will be refused based on the latest postmark date. No entries will be accepted after July Livestock must be pre-registered by July 15. Livestock for Departments 2 and 3 are to arrive on Sunday, Aug. 19 between 3 and 5 p.m. and Monday, Aug. 20, between noon and 9 p.m. They must remain on exhibit until released at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug ALL classes must be pre-registered, including: Get of Sire, Dam and Daughter, Produce of Dam. If not pre-registered, exhibitor is not eligible to show. 5. Every animal must be entered to be exhibited in individual classes (where only one animal is called for) to be eligible for group classes. 6. All cattle must be registered with their respective breed association. 7. No original registration papers equal no show. 8. Exhibitors are expected to keep their animals in an attractive appearance, and to cooperate with Department 2 officials in every way that may serve to increase the educational value of the show. 9. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to know the judging schedule. Stock must be in the ring promptly on call, and a failure to comply with the order renders exhibitors liable to be ruled out of competing. BANNER In addition to the previous rules for cattle, the following rules will apply: 1. Animals must be true red and white in color to be eligible. 2. Animals must have a valid RWDCA Registration Certificate. 3. Animals to be shown as Red and White cattle must have a Red and White Dairy Cattle Association registration certificate and be true red in hair color. DEPARTMENT 10
6 4-H AND VOCATIONAL Eligibility: 4-H club members must have passed their eighth birthday but must not have passed their 19th birthday as of Jan. 1 st. Exhibitors must be 4-H members carrying a project in the field in which they wish to make entry and be under the supervision of their State University Cooperative Extension Service by their designated deadline. Open Class rules, regulations and entry times apply for all 4-H and Vocational Livestock Projects. Be sure to use only grooming products that are approved for use on meat and dairy animals when fitting your animals for show. Unapproved products may contain ingredients that result in unacceptable residues in the meat or milk. For exhibits, including live animals, please refer to the Beaver County 4-H Project Directory and/or the project book for project completion requirements not listed on the website or department 10 information printed from the website. EXHIBITORS MAY NOT SHOW IN BOTH DEPARTMENTS 10 AND DEPARTMENT 11. Note: Entry fees will not be charged for 4-H entries, only when the animal has been entered in open or youth classes. SECTION A-2 DAIRY CATTLE 4-H Club or FFA members must be present and have charge of their animals at the time of judging. Exhibitors must belong to a western PA 4-H club or FFA Chapter. 8 Cattle Health Rules and Requirements All animals showing clinical signs of contagious, infectious or parasitic diseases will not be admitted to any show or other fair event. All drug and vaccine labels directions must be followed, including but not limited to milk and slaughter withdrawal periods. The vaccine must be administered at least 15 days prior to entry into the fair. Pennsylvania Cattle Requirements: 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued after May 1, 2018 is required. 2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (statement is pre-printed on the CVI). 3. Individual official animal identification. Official ID will have a US shield and includes: A USDA-issued National Uniform Eartagging System (NUES) ear tag having a US shield ; or A 15-digit Animal Identification Number (AIN) ear tag starting with 840 and a US shield ; or Other official identification approved by PDA. (brands and breed registrations with tattoos are not acceptable). 4. A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian is recommended for animals 3 months of age and older (market cattle are exempt). Out of State Cattle Requirements: 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 30 days prior to the date of importation is required. 2. Vesicular Stomatitis (VS): (applies to states that experienced a Vesicular Stomatitis outbreak in the last 12 months). An accredited veterinarian shall determine whether the animals are free from VS, and animals shall be accompanied by a CVI with the following statement signed by the accredited veterinarian: All animals identified on this certificate of veterinary inspection have been examined and found to be free from Vesicular Stomatitis (VS). During the past 90 days; these animals were not located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed. 3. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI). 4. Individual official animal identification. Official ID will have a US shield and includes: A USDA-issued National Uniform Eartagging System (NUES) ear tag having a US shield ; or A 15-digit Animal Identification Number (AIN) ear tag starting with 840 and a US shield ; or Other official identification approved by PDA. (brands and breed registrations with tattoos are not acceptable).
9 5. A current rabies vaccination administered by a licensed veterinarian is required for animals 3 months of age and older (market cattle are exempt) 6. Testing: Tuberculosis Requirements: No test is required for animals originating from Accredited Free states or zones. All animals originating from states or zones designated Modified Accredited Advanced must be test negative within the 60 days prior to the date of importation. The negative test results and date of test must be included on the CVI or the animal must be accompanied by a negative test report (a copy of the original report is acceptable). All animals originating from states or zones designated Modified Accredited must originate from herds in which all animals 12 months of age and older are test negative within the 12 months prior to the date of importation; and the individual animals to be imported (all ages) are test negative within the 60 days prior to the date of importation and at least 60 days after the negative whole herd test. The negative test results and date of test must be included on the CVI or the animal must be accompanied by a negative test report (a copy of the original test report is acceptable).
