Welcome, 2016 is the year that we will relaunch Brewerbeef, based on the tried and true principals of the past 30 years in Simmentals we are happy to offer 40 Black Simmental bulls at our first sale

Primary focuses of the herd are easy care quiet cattle that make producers jobs as easy as possible.

2 Welcome, 2016 is the year that we will relaunch Brewerbeef, based on the tried and true principals of the past 30 years in Simmentals we are happy to offer 40 Black Simmental bulls at our first sale under the BrewerBeef brand. We are excited to show you our newly focused herd of Black Simmentals bred to be functional, easy care cattle that perform. Primary focuses of the herd are easy care quiet cattle that make producers jobs as easy as possible. Our herd is a commercially efficient herd of functional females, our focus is on easy care cows that calve unassisted, are easily handled and produce results. In 2015 we purchased the Circle Eight herd from the Cooper family, adding a wonderful line of outcross females and some young ET bulls, some of which are presented in this sale. These fellows were weaned at 3 months and have performed extremely well considering their start. Black Simmentals fit seamlessly into any British bred herd, providing extremely valuable hybrid vigour, effectively giving the producer more dollars for free. BrewerBeef commercial cattle never fail to gain top prices at market and progeny of our bulls have enjoyed above average prices and increased competition on our cattle in recent years due to their ability to do well and their easy handling attributes. Remember to take into consideration when looking at the scan data that these bulls are grass finished and ready to work. We look forward to presenting our first sale draft and assisting you to maximise your profits. We would like to thank Judy Brewer her guidance, advice and hard work helping us produce this draft of bulls David, Tara, Austin & Henry Brewer Topping off 2 successive years of amazing weaner prices, BrewerBeef achieved the coveted accolade of Best Presented Pen of Steers at the recent 2016 Blue bon Weaner Sales at the NVLX. The draft of 50 steers averaged $1240 per head at 9months. David & Tara Brewer, of Brewag P/L sold Simmental X Steers to a top of $1285. They were also awarded the Rural Finance award for best presented pen of Cattle

3 Sale Details All bulls will be yarded by 9.30am on the morning of the sale. Inspections prior to the sale can be arranged at any time by calling David or Tara on (02) , or LOCATION: 401 Soldier tlers Rd, Tallangatta Valley VIC From Tallangatta, head towards Corryong for 13k turn right into Tallangatta Creek Rd, in 3.3k right into Soldier tlers Rd. 'Lynn Ridge' is 1.1k, 1st driveway on right. SALE DAY SAFETY: All the sale bulls have been screened for temperament and are quiet to handle under normal circumstances. However, there are inherent risks associated with handling cattle. Visitors Enter the cattle pens at their own risk. Children must not enter the yards. People entering the yards are at risk of injury. Be especially alert for bulls fighting. We do not expect the bulls to be aggressive with humans, but sale day places extraordinary pressure on them as they experience an entirely foreign environment. Remember the quietest bull is in fact an unpredictable animal. Please do not crowd the bulls or loiter inside the pens. Remember they are leaving the security of a large mob, they have never been alone and will be arriving in unfamiliar surroundings. Steers or pregnant cows would be suitable, certainly not other bulls. At BrewerBeef, we handle our cattle quietly and stongly subscribe to calm cattle handling methods, we always give our cattle respect, and our cattle respect us. They are used to being handled using ATV/side by side vehicles, The bulls have never been handled by dogs or horses. Gradually introduce them to dogs or horses with your existing cattle so they are not spooked by the new situation. Handle your new bull quietly, confidently and with respect and he ll settle into his new home well, and will be easy to handle whenever the need arises - 4 -

Beef Class Structural Assessment System Structural problems in cattle have a substantial effect on both the reproductive and growth performance of a beef herd.

6 Beef Class Structural Assessment System Structural problems in cattle have a substantial effect on both the reproductive and growth performance of a beef herd. It is widely recognised that structural problems in sires have detrimental effects on conception rates, calving patterns and thus profitability. Similarly, females with inadequate structural characteristics are more prone to weaning lighter calves or conceiving later in the breeding season than their more functional counterparts. These structural problems are filtered through the supply chain resulting in reduced income for the producer, feedlot and thus reducing the overall productivity of the Australian Beef Industry. Over the past decade, use of the Beef Class Structural Assessment System in the seedstock industry has produced a marked improvement in herds which have shown commitment to using the information appropriately. Through these dedicated breeders, there has been a flow on effect of structural improvement throughout all sectors of the beef cattle industry. Jim Green and Liam Cardile of BEEFXCEL service many of the leading seedstock herds in Australia. BEEFXCEL is not involved in any genetic marketing or specific breeding advice and therefore has no conflict of interests to influence their stock appraisal. The integrity of the structural data provided by BEEFXCEL is recognised throughout the industry as Jim and Liam are fully INDEPENDENT assessors. Sale Bulls have been independently structurally assessed to maximise the quality of stock on offer. Any animals deemed inadequate have been removed from the sale draft. Brewer Beef sale bulls were assessed by Liam Cardile of BEEFXCEL on 22/1/2016. How to Use The Beef Class Structural Assessment System The Beef Class Structural Assessment System uses a 1-9 scoring system; A score of 5 is ideal (Note: erament of 1 is preferable); A score of 4 or 6 shows slight variation from ideal, but this include most animals. An animal scoring 4 or 6 would be acceptable in any breeding program; A score of 3 or 7 shows greater variation but would be acceptable in most commercial programs. However, seedstock producers should be vigilant and understand that this score indicates greater variation from ideal; A score of 2 or 8 are low scoring animals and should be looked at closely before purchasing; A score of 1 or 9 should not be catalogued and are considered culls.
