5 SCOTTISH BVD ERADICATION SCHEME NOTICE TO VENDORS AND PURCHASERS It is the responsibility of each Vendor to ensure that Vendor declarations in relation to the Bovine Viral Diarrhoea ( BVD ) status of all animals provided to Auctioneers are accurate declarations as at the date of sale. However, Purchasers should be aware that an accurate Vendor declaration cannot absolutely guarantee that any animal or progeny from any animal is free from BVD or is not a persistently infected ( PI ) animal. Auctioneers cannot accept any responsibility for the accuracy or reliability of any Vendor declarations and no warranties or guarantees whatsoever are given by the Auctioneers. Category/ Catalogue info BVD Category 1 BVD Accredited / Individually Tested Negative BVD Category 2 BVD Herd Screened Negative BVD Category 3 BVD Status Unknown Standard Cattle are not pregnant and are either from an Accredited BVD-Free Herd through a CheCS cattle health scheme or Individually tested BVD virus free From a herd with a negative BVD herd status through a mandatory annual screening or certified virus free and vaccinated. All cattle not in either of the categories above (including from not-negative herds) Risk Level Very low risk Low risk Risk unknown Please note, pregnant animals are always a greater risk and therefore cannot be assigned as Category 1, very low risk. Pregnant animals, which would otherwise be category one must be assigned as Category 2 (low risk).
