Change for the Future Fill the Clover & Support Illinois 4-H The Illinois 4-H Foundation will be hoping to Fill the Clover with change and dollars at this year s Illinois State Fair. Last year, the Foundation GAVE BACK more than $394,000 dollars to local 4-H clubs, members and county/state programs. Let s do our part in giving back to the Foundation. Bring your donations (large and small) to the Illinois 4-H Foundation Booth in the Orr Building during 4-H Exhibit Days of Aug. 13 & 14 and Aug. 20 & 21. How fun would it be to get your whole club s picture together as you drop your money in the clover. Together We Can! 14

15 We Love a Fair State 4-H News We sure hope to see lots of 4-H families at the 2016 Illinois State Fair. If you re visiting the fair, come over to the Orr Building on the northwest corner of the fairgrounds to see more than 3000 exhibits this year. Are you exhibiting a 4-H project? Remember these tips: Remove all county tags and ribbons your exhibit and put on the state fair tag your county office sent you. 4-H members must drop their projects off at the Orr Building any time between 8 and 9:30 a.m. You do not need to check in with anyone. Check the master schedule to see what time YOUR conference judging begins. Everyone will have at least a 10-minute judging time to discuss your project with a judge. Return to your judging area about 10 minutes before your scheduled time. Your project MUST remain on display until 3:30 that day. Be sure to come back and pick it up before 4:30 closing time. If you are registered in Fashion Revue, you don t need to arrive until 12:30 p.m. Be dressed and stage-ready by 1:30. The fashion review begins at 2 p.m. Come back for the 4-H Clover Celebration at 3 p.m. No projects may be removed from the judging area until 3:30 p.m. It s the rule, so follow it! There will be lots of other fun things to do in the Orr Building. THERE S GOOD NEWS: State Fair is providing Load/Unload passes to 4-H families which will allow cars to enter through Gate 8 (or other gate if that is closed) and drive to the Orr Building to drop off exhibits or people. You will need to present admission tickets for anyone in the car upon entering the fairgrounds; then the driver will need to leave through Gate 9 immediately after drop off, GET THEIR HAND STAMPED FOR RE-ADMISSION to the fair, and then re-enter the fairgrounds through the gate for which they have a parking pass. Will you help us at state fair? Each day we ll need about 75 volunteers to help with the state fair general project judging. Judge s assistants help monitor project exhibits, call up exhibitors for judging, apply ribbons to exhibits and record official grades. There are two different shifts we need workers 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM and Noon to 5 PM. Pick one or both shifts to help! If you want to help, Brett Santo, Illinois 4-H Events bsanto@illinois.edu. We need volunteers Aug. 13, 14, 20 &
