2 UPCOMING EVENTS & 4-H INFORMATION 4-H MEMBERS-LEADERS AND PARENTS 4-H CAMP has the possibility to happen in November! But, there is one important issue that we need to address! We need Ya ALL to join the 4-H EAM! Get involved today call the 4-H Office Without YOU as a TEAM Player 4-H activities such as Y.A.C., Project Clubs, Club meetings, Camp, Judging Day, and all other 4-H events! CAN'T happen without YOU! THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE 4-H TEAM IS YOU! LOCAL 4-H YOUTH ATTENDED THE LIVESTOCK JUDGING ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO! The senior livestock judging team traveled to Albuquerque last Thursday. The judging contest was individuals only, not teams. There were three divisions; Senior, Junior and Novice. Only the Senior division were presented with awards; NMSU jackets with their names engraved on them for the top 10. In the Seniors, Lauren Wilson finished 2nd overall with 520 points out of a possible 550. Ben Menges finished 3rd overall also with 520 points. We had never competed in this contest and will decide next year if we want to go again. In any event it was a good workout for the team. We likely would have won if it had been a team competition as Lauren and Ben both had outstanding days against very stiff competition. We plan on traveling to Las Cruces on Sept 30 to compete in the Southern NM State Fair.

EXTENSION is pleased to announce the launch of its first Community of Practice web site, Horse Quest provides Internet visitors with reliable and up-to-date horse information through a knowledge base of commonly asked questions that have science-based, peer-reviewed answers. In addition, online lessons use self-paced learning objects to help users learn more about specialized areas of equine science. The newest lesson being introduced is a module for new and prospective horse owners.

COTTONTAIL TRAIL (SOUTH ON HWY. 191 JUST BEFORE ROPER LAKE ROAD) COST: Depends on the future projects and produce POSSIBLE FIELD TRIPS TO GATHER PRODUCE TO REGISTER CALL THE 4-H OFFICE (To ensure there will be enough supplies for all that attend) Farm Credit Services Southwest donates $5,000 to the 2007 Western Region 4-H Forum! Commitment to agriculture and the future generations of agriculture is a longtime tradition at Farm Credit Services Southwest ( FCSSW ). Over the years, FCSSW has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars and staff members have donated uncounted hours as a demonstration of that commitment. For example, FCSSW has a superb track record in the support of agricultural education, with an emphasis on helping young and beginning farmers develop into successful entrepreneurs through their Young Farmer and Rancher Executive Institute. FCSSW has also helped dozens of college interns gain practical knowledge about careers in agricultural finance. In addition, this commitment to the future generations of farmers, ranchers, and people in rural America is demonstrated by their continued support of youth programs such as 4-H and FFA. Whatever is needed a barbeque, a barn sale, scholarships, or board membership FCSSW consistently promotes company-wide participation to help the kids and encourage their appreciation of our agricultural heritage.

Demonstration/Informative Speech - County level (in your project area). Must attended entire event to receive credit. Demonstration/Informative speech must be given at one of the scheduled demonstration/informative speech days. DEMONSTRATIONS A demonstration puts words into action. An effective demonstration teaches others how to do something by showing while telling -- and showing really is worth a thousand words. At the end of a demonstration, you should have a finished product to show to your audience. INFORMATIVE SPEECH An informative speech tells about something. Topic must be 4-H project related. It also uses visual aids and should include a minimum of three posters, slides, or other visuals. 4. TWO other County 4-H Events A. Fundraiser B. Spring/Summer Fair C. Parades D. County 4-H Camp E.
