All information must be given at time of entry. Failure to provide complete individual animal entry information will result in a penalty fee of $75. Entry and penalty fees are non-refundable. All Beef Cattle Exhibitors will be required to pay a $20 per head bedding fee. Tan bark will be provided in the Voinovich Beef Barn only. No bedding will be provided for tie-outs. Animals entered in both Open and Junior Shows only need to pay a $20 per head fee once. Management has the right to request each bay to have a minimum of 14 head, depending on tie-out/ space needs. Management has the right to remove unruly cattle. All bulls six (6) months of age or more must have a nose lead ( temporary being acceptable) and all bulls over 12 months must have a permanent lead. Please be sure to refer to the Ohio State Fair Rules and Regulations at SPECIAL RULE Any product which changes, enhances or alters the natural color of an animal will not be permitted. (Including but not limited to - paint, dye, powder, nonclear adhesive and foam or shoe polish.) Sunday, August 6 8:30 a.m. Pre-4-H Prospect Showmanship Prospect Calf Show immediately following Pre-4-H Showmanship ENTERING PROCEDURE All entries close June 20. All entry information: breed of animal, division number, class number, name of animal, sire name, registry number, date of birth, tattoo number and sex of animal must be included on the entry form. Failure to provide all information listed above will result in a $75 fee, over and above the entry fee. Exhibitors will be permitted one substitution. Breed association representatives are expected to check in their breeds and to assign stalls once the department has provided them their barn stall allocations. A program for each breed will be posted listing animals to be shown. Exhibitors may make as many entries in individual classes as they choose. Three animals may be shown in an individual class, but only two animals per class can win premiums, ribbons and placings. Do not make entries in champion classes. Any animal which is not entered in single classes will not be permitted to show in group classes. Animals owned in partnership may be shown by only one member of the partnership in group classes. All animals, regardless of age, must be recorded and appear in the name of the exhibitor on the records of their respective associations, by July 26. Entries will not be accepted unless animals are registered. All exhibitors must have original registration papers or a copy to be submitted at check in. No faxed copies of registration papers will be accepted. A multi-registered animal may only be shown as one breed and by one exhibitor in both the open and junior show. No premiums will be awarded unless animal corresponds to description and ownership as shown by registration and transfer certificates. Any breed failing to exhibit a minimum of 10 animals for two years will be evaluated by management in 2019, regarding continuation of the breed in future shows. All exhibitors may be asked to parade their cattle and to furnish cows for the judging contest, at the request of the management.

3 JUDGING TIMES Times listed are approximate start times for each show. Management reserves the right to alter show times based upon completion of preceding shows in the arena. BREED DISPLAYS Breed associations may erect a breed exhibit display. However, no premium money will be paid for exhibits. The Beef Department Management will designate space for Breed Booth Displays. PREMIER EXHIBITORS AWARD This award to be made to the exhibitor winning the most money (No limit on number exhibited but award automatically figured on top ten animals winning the most money.) Cannot exceed ten animals shown and exhibited in the open single classes. If a herd is registered in the names of the immediate members of a family (i.e. husband/wife, children or grandchildren) this herd will be considered as a single entry for the premier exhibitor award. PREMIER BREEDERS AWARD Not to exceed ten animals winning the most money in open single classes, including animals bred by exhibitor but exhibited by others. (No limit on number exhibited but award automatically figured on top ten animals winning the most money.) DIVISION 1001 ANGUS Ohio State Fair $5, Arrival Time By 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 Judging 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 Release Time Thursday, July 27 (time determined by management) The American Angus Association, 3201 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, Mo., will participate in premiums offered for open class Angus breeding cattle classes according to the premium schedule based on the number of head shown. The premium assistance provided by the American Angus Association for participation in this show is in addition to the premiums offered by the show itself. The premium assistance should not be used to offset show expense and shall be included in the premium payments distributed by the show to the exhibitors. A minimum of 50 head must be shown in the open class division to receive American Angus Association premium participation for the following year. Premiums from the Association are paid only to registered Angus cattle and only if the registration number is a part of the show report provided to the Association. Therefore, all cattle should be registered at the time of entry to make certain they receive the Association s portion of premiums. The Association does not pay on championship or any group classes, (i.e. get-of-sire, junior get-of-sire or breeder six-head). Exhibitors must have the original registration certificate issued by the American Angus Association available for inspection at the show for each animal or another current proof of ownership issued by the American Angus Association pedigree look up. Any animal, upon check-in, which does not have a legible permanent identification mark (ear tattoo marks, freeze-branded marks or hot-branded marks) corresponding to the permanent identification mark on the registration certificate, is ineligible to show. Once disqualified due to an incorrect or illegible permanent identification mark, animals cannot be re-identified (tattooed/branded) and rechecked at the show. Any female shown with a calf at side: the calf must be the cow s most recent natural calf, and the calf must be registered by show day and have proof of registration at check in. 3

4 Only one person at a time shall lead an animal into the show ring. Exhibitors who participate in shows that accept premium monies contributed by the American Angus Association are subject to the Association Rules as found in the Breeders Reference Guide of the Association. These rules are found in Part 2; Association Rules. The rules relating directly with the exhibition of Angus cattle are Part 2: Association Rules; Rule 800 Series; including Rule These rules can be found at Altering the conformation and/or appearance of an animal for exhibition is prohibited. This includes the covering of white skin, false tail heads (or use of any false hair), with the exception of false tail switches. The use of graphite, powders, hemp or other similar substances used externally are also prohibited. Other prohibited products include those used internally such as steroids, illegal or unlicensed pharmaceuticals or artificial filling. Any animal found to be in violation will be barred from showing. At any show for which the American Angus Association appropriates funds toward the payment of premiums, no exhibitors, individuals assisting exhibitors or member owners at such show shall be allowed to use any coloring agents, on any animal exhibited. The Association may adopt and implement various tests designed to monitor this prohibition, including but not limited to a white towel or white glove test. No aerosol cans or other pressurized containers will be allowed in designated line up areas. All animals exhibited are subject to DNA marker or blood type test to verify accuracy of parentage as covered under the Association Rules and for other testing as required by the individual show. Authorized representatives of the Association have the authority to enforce the rules set forth herein as well as in the Association Rules, including the barring of a registered animal from a livestock show at which it is to be shown, if there are reasonable grounds to believe a violation has occurred. Exhibitors making entries in individual classes must do so in the full membership name of the present owner or owners as it appears on the registration certificate. Youngest class will be shown first, with animals being led in, order of age, with the youngest to oldest with individual entry number for each animal. There will be a cow calf class. No age limit on cows. Calves may also be entered and shown in individual classes. All cows and calves will be shown in one class. Cow/Calf are not allowed to show for Grand Champion Female. Active adult and junior members of the ACA are eligible to show and/or receive premium monies provided by the ACA. Partial interest owners must be active members of the ACA. Membership may be obtained by writing to the ACA, P.O. Box 890, Platte City, MO or by phone (816) If additional premium is paid, at the discretion of the Ohio Chianina President for the Open Show, the exhibitor must be a paid current Ohio Chianina member prior to the start of the current year Ohio State Fair. 2. Animals may be registered as Chianina, Chimaine, Chiford, Red Chiangus or Chiangus (1CA, 2CA, and PCA). 3. Original registration certificates must be presented to management at the show. Every animals tattoo will be read and must agree with the registration certificate. Any animal not having a legible tattoo, or a tattoo not corresponding with its registration certificate will be barred from showing. Animals entered in the Chianina can only show in these classes. 4. The attempted surgical or non-surgical alteration or conformation of an animal is prohibited, except for dehorning. This includes altering the conformation by taping up the dewlap or creating tucks by using adhesive on the dewlap, brisket, sheath, or navel. Cattle are to be shown in their natural conformation. In order to inspect animals to determine if the animals are polled, scurred, or horned, no altering of the heads or removal of scurs from Chiangus cattle is permitted. If a Chiangus head has been altered in any way, that animal is not eligible to show in the Chiangus division. *All horned Chianina must be dehorned prior to being shown. *The use of false tail heads is prohibited. *The addition of hair or hemp or any similar substance to any part of an animal s body is prohibited. Dyeing or artificially changing the color of an animal is prohibited. Coloring agents, except powders, may be used on the legs and tail switches. No coloring agent may be used above the animal s flank. No powder of any kind or color may be used on any part of an animal. 5. All bulls one year of age or older must have a permanent nose ring with a lead attached to the ring. 6. All cattle will be made available for a veterinary examination to determine the presence of altering and or determination of horns or scurs and to be mouthed. Every exhibitor agrees to abide by the determination of the examining veterinarian(s). All other rules established by the Ohio State Fair must be followed including but not limited to all tampering and grooming rules set forth by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. All Animals must be registered with the American Gelbvieh Association (AGA). Only the original registration certificate will be accepted as proof of registration. 2. The owner name on the AGA registration certificate must be the same as the owner name on the entry form or the entry will be disqualified. 3. Entries for the purebred Gelbvieh show must meet registration requirements of the AGA. Any animal entered in the purebred show must be 75% Gelbvieh or higher percentage and have Gelbvieh, Gelbvieh Balancer or Gelbvieh Hybrid certificate. This same percentage applies to both males and females. All animals 75% or higher Gelbvieh blood will show together as purebred. 4. All animals must be tattooed. Tattoos must be legible and properly match the animal s registration certificate. 5. All bulls over one year of age must show with a nose lead. 6. The Gelbvieh show superintendant reserves the right to disqualify any animal deemed unmanageable. 7. No limitations are placed on the color or color pattern of any Gelbvieh entered in the show. 8. The show management reserves the right to split classes larger than ten head. 9. All animals shown in group classes must have shown in individual classes. 10. The cow/calf champion shall be eligible for overall champion female. 11. No unethical fitting will be tolerated. No paint or other color above the hocks, no lifting or filling under the skin, no artificial tail heads or unnatural building of legs. The OVGA reserves the right to take blood samples and mouth all cattle. 12. Heifers born twin to a bull are eligible to show without a registration certificate if accompanied by a copy of the signed veterinary examination report deeming her to be fertile. The Balancer Show is open to all registered Gelbvieh males and females that meet the proper age requirements for the show and blood percentage requirements for Balancer registration in the AGA. All animals must be registered in the name of the entrant and ownership must match registration certificate. 2. Animals 25 to 75% Gelbvieh that are registered with the AGA and have a Gelbvieh Balancer certificate may be shown in the balancer show. Cattle that are 75% Balancers may show in either show, but must designate at check-in which show they will exhibit in. 3. All animals must be tattooed. Tattoos must be legible and properly match the animal s registration certificate. 4. All bulls over one year of age must show with a nose lead. 5. The Gelbvieh show superintendant reserve the right to disqualify any animal deemed unmanageable. 6. For state and regional shows, all Hereford animals must be officially recorded at show time to to be eligible to show. NORTH AMERICAN LIMOUSIN FOUNDATION STANDARD RULES & REGULATIONS 1. All animals must be registered with the North American Limousin Foundation (NALF). 2. All cattle shown including calves at the side of the dam must be: a) 75% Limousin (NALF percentage, not actual) or greater as indicated on orange NALF registration certificates b) Purple-papered Lim-Flex cattle as indicated by NALF registration certificates. 3. Percentage, purebred and Lim-Flex cattle shall compete in the same classes and championships. 4. If a show does not abide by the NALF MOE show rules exhibitors will not be awarded points for that show. 5. All animals must be properly tattooed and will be inspected at the show. Tattoos must be legible and must properly match the registration certificate. If an animal s tattoo is not legible or cannot be read upon initial processing, it will be ineligible to show and not be allowed to return with a new or corrected tattoo. 6. To maintain a high degree of confidence in Limousin shows NALF reserves the right to disqualify any animal that has been fitted in an unethical manner. Unethical fitting shall include the following: a) Any use of paints, hair-coloring conditioned colored show foam, graphite, colored powders or other substances; animals may be subject to a white-towel test. b) The addition of any hair or hair like substances, including false tail heads and false polls (false tail switches are allowed). c) The cutting, tearing or gluing of the hide or underneath the hide or removal of tissue in an attempt to alter the shape of the animal or the injection of any gas, solid or liquid under the hide to alter the normal conformation. d) Any products/solutions/liquids administered internally or externally to alter the conformation of the animal is prohibited. This includes the use of steroids, growth stimulants, and the act of artificially filling animals internally, which would include stomach pumping, drench tubes, or any other method. EXCEPTIONS: In the case of severely sick or dehydrated animals, the exhibitor may have fluids or electrolytes administered by the licensed official show veterinarian with the approval of the show management and/or NALF representative. This exception is not applicable on show day or weigh-in/check-in day. 7. Bulls older than one year of age must show with a nose-lead. The Limousin superintendent and the show management reserve the right to disqualify animals deemed unmanageable. 8. All protests against exhibitors, individual animals or fitting violations of cattle must be submitted in writing and signed by five (5) active members of the NALF and presented to the show management within 12 hours of the show s completion. 12

13 9. NALF reserves the right to mouth animals for dental development. 10. NALF reserves the right to collect hair samples from any animal. 11. Class size shall be to the discretion of the show management and may not contain more than 20 head. The given classes may be split or combined only within their given divisions. 12. Calves exhibited alongside dams in the cow/calf division are eligible to show as single entry, provided an entry fee has been paid. 13. Animals shown must be solid red or black above the flanks, excluding birthmarks. Heifers twenty-four (24) months or age or older must be safe in calf as verified by a graduate veterinarian or have produced a live, Santa Gertrudis sired calf with that calf at side meeting the Standard of Excellence and the calf must be registered by thirty (30) days of age. If the animal is open due to being an embryo transfer program this fact must be verified by a written statement signed by a licensed embryo technician in order to show. 5. All late summer yearling bulls and older must be exhibited with a nose ring or nose clip. 6. All animals must be registered or recorded and PERMANENTLY identified before the show with a brand ID or an ear tattoo. 7. JUNIOR OWNERS AND POSSESSION RULE a. To be eligible to compete in SGBI approved junior shows, animal(s) must be registered or recorded in the name of the junior member. This registered or recorded junior must feed, fit, care for, and show the animal entered. Ownership deadline is April 1 for all animals born January 1 of the preceding year and thereafter, and November 1 for all other animals. b. Juniors participating in Open Shows are allowed and encouraged. Entry must be shown by owner or family member (sister, brother, mother, grandparent, legal guardian, relative by blood). No animal may be fitted or shown by any open exhibitor at any time during the junior s ownership period. An exception is transportation, feed, and care for the duration of the show. In the event of an emergency another junior member may show the animal with the approval of the Shows and Exhibits Chairman or his/ her representative. 8. FITTING a. Purebred fitting All purebred animals must be exhibited with the hair brushed down on the entire body, legs, and tail with no foreign objects attached to the animal in a manner as to alter the animal s conformation or change its appearance. Exhibitors failing to abide by this rule will not be allowed to show. Specifically, all hair must be brushed down slick; head clipped smooth; underline clipped blending sides; udder and teats clipped with no long hair to emphasize udder; ears clipped as to environmental and local standards; neck and brisket clipped; body clip using common sense as to season; leg hair clipped and do not leave long from hock or knee to hoof; tailhead clipped; pull switch or brush out (no ball, etc.) trim tail to personal preference. b. Star Five fitting Star Five exhibits are not subject to purebred clipping rules. Entries are to be fitted blow and go.
