2 LAMBS, DRAFT EWES & RAMS am Auctioneer: Steve Prouse LAMBS WEIGHT TOP AVERAGE Per Head P/Kg TLW Per Head P/Kg TLW Lambs Overall Light Ewes Heavy Ewes A faster trade seen across the board for all weights and a lot more could have been sold, overall average of 148.6p and numerous pens over 152p to a top of 159p for two pens of 42.2 kilos from John Stanbury, Higher Wadfast followed by James Crouch, Higher Cookworthy, Lifton who sold a pen of Charollais x 45.2 kilos at 158p/kg ( 71.20). The thick heavy weights met a similar trade however the leaner heavies met a much stronger trade six pens over 70 and to a top of 73 for two pens sold by Brian Lavis, Bridestowe. 352 DRAFT EWES & RAMS A larger entry with just over 200 plain and hills ewes on offer which reflected in the overall average of but the strong finished ewes again very much sought after with 12 pens over 82 and to a top of from Mr SG Uglow, Collacott with George Griffin of St Mellion realizing 88 for his best pen of Suffolk x Scotch ewes to and Cheviot x ewes to 59 North Country mules up to STORE LAMBS A very fast trade for all store lambs and a lot more could have been sold. Several pens around 60 and to a top of 62 for two pens of Suffolk x from Dave Crocker, Dringwell, Lewdown.

3 BREED BULLS HEIFERS CALVES No Top Ave No Top Ave Friesian Shorthorn Aberdeen Angus Devon British Blue Hereford Simmental Charolais Limousin Welsh Black CALVES am Auctioneer: Patrick Dennis Once again a large entry selling on a fast trade throughout the auction. Top today was 530 for a strong British Blue x bull sold by Mr M Greenaway from Tetcott who also went on to sell a young British Blue x for 385. Messrs O Petherick & Son from Kilkhampton had his usual quality run on offer with the best British Blue x bull reaching 500 with another at 485. Miss P Philp from Umberleigh saw her smart young British Blue bull reach 465 with other British Blue x bulls to 455 for Messrs MW & AC Vanstone from Chilsworthy and Messrs RW & R Risdon from North Tamerton saw their best British Blue x bull go for 448. A Shorthorn x bull made 462 on behalf of Mr BG Nicholls from Parracombe and Mr TC Lane from Helston had a good run of Hereford x calves with the best bull making 450 with another making 410, many other good bull calves sold between 350 to 400. Two vendors achieved 155 for good Friesian bulls being Mr NJ Bowden from Highampton and Messrs K & MJ Chamberlain from Shebbear. Messrs O Petherick & Son also took the honours in the heifer section with his best British Blue x heifer making 455 and others to 435 and 430, young British Blue x heifers to 410 on behalf of Mr L Rockett from Bridestowe and Hereford x heifers saw a top call of 325 for Mr TC Lane with a further two at 290 and another at 280. Simmental x heifers to 300 for Messrs NP & JK Jones from Landrake with many other heifers traded between 240 to 280. The Genus Voucher prize winners for this week were for the bull calf section Miss P Philp, Parkend, Umberleigh with a British Blue sired by Governor making 465, the heifer section was won by Messrs R & S Home, Stowford Park, East Putford with a Limousin x sired by Chytodden Conan making STIRKS Auctioneer: Patrick Dennis Just a small entry this week sold on a good trade, a smart 4 month old Friesian steer BREED STEERS HEIFERS STIRKS No Top Ave No Top Ave Friesian British Blue Charolais Hereford sold for 535 for RWH Dilling from Highampton who also sold a young British Blue x steer for 420. Messrs KJ & DA Frain from Launceston sold a smart young Charolais x steer for 530 and Charolais x heifers at 425 and 395. Next week s entries to include 5 named sire Aberdeen Angus x steers suckler bred 5 6 months old, 10 Hereford x Friesian steers 6 8 months old STRAW am Auctioneer: James Morrish Just one load of straw today saw plenty of interest with the load of 36 wheat bales selling to 14 per a bale on behalf of Luke & Lloyd Furse of Ashwater.

Forward steers again 1000 topping at 1165 for two 18 month old Limousins from Mr Graham May, Port Isaac who sold others at The second quality Continental and Native steers saw a harder trade with buyers now becoming more selective on their purchases rather than in previous weeks when they were starting to fill sheds. Named sire Natives again sold well a consignment from Messrs Gifford, Whitebear saw their best Aberdeen Angus steers to 935 with heifers to 700 and more required. 5 15 FINISHED CATTLE Auctioneer: David Kivell Trade was much stronger this week, a consignment of five superb Limousin steers from Mr SJ Sluggett, Elmfield saw a top of 208p for a 762 kilo Limousin which realised top price of the day at 1581, Mr Sluggett also sold three others over Leaner second quality steers and heifers saw a similar trade to previous weeks 155p 170p. More required next week. Also at 116p was a Holstein cow from Messrs AJ Palmer, Corfcott, Clawton. Leaner Holsteins saw the trade improved by 8p 10p and more were required, many out of parlour cows 80p plus.
