4 GENERAL RULES FOR ALL EVENTS 1. ONE ENTRY PER HORSE AND RIDER COMBINATION. 2. ENTRY FEE: See entry fee schedule. 70% of entry fee will be awarded to the purse, 30% of all entry and late fees will cover facility and operational costs. 3. PAYMENT DATE: All entries with payment must be postmarked no later than 10/29/ JUDGES DECISIONS AND SCORES WILL BE FINAL. 5. PROTESTS can only be made by the owner and/or rider in the same class. Protests must be made in writing to the Rules Committee through the event secretary on the day of the show. A deposit of $ must be submitted with written protests. The deposit will be refunded only if the decision of the Rules Committee is in favor of the protestor. 6. THE MANAGEMENT reserves the right to amend, delete or add to any/all rules and have a qualified individual determine the age of any unregistered horse. Their decision will be final. 7. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS. 8. SUBSTITUTION OF HORSE: If a veterinarian certificate is received stating that a horse entered will be unable to work, the owner will be allowed to substitute another horse by paying an additional charge of $ The veterinary certificate is subject to approval of Show Management. 9. SUBSTITUTION OF RIDER: Generally there will be no substitution of rider. Special circumstances may be considered at the discretion of the Rules Committee. 10. ALL ENTRIES WILL BE SUBJECT TO APPROVAL of the Rules Committee. 11. ALL CONTESTANTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR KNOWLEDGE OF ALL RULES. 5 12. SCORING PROCEDURES: See rulebooks indicated at #11 for general scoring, rules, cutting, herd work, fence work and rein work scoring rules. 13. CONTESTANTS MUST BE READY AND WAITING in designated area to compete when called. A delay will result in disqualification. Riders will be given (1) one minute to enter the arena if the gatekeeper has the announcer issue a late call. 14. NON-PRO: Open to any person over the age of 18 who has not in the last 5 years received any remuneration directly or indirectly, for the training of horses or horse riders in any discipline. This includes assisting and training horses, giving lessons, judging and giving clinics. Spouses and immediate family members of trainers who do not train, give lessons or show non-family member horses are eligible for Non-Pro status. Must show proof of horse ownership 15. AMATEUR: Rider must be eligible for Non-Pro status and be 19 years or older. Cutting: earnings have exceeded $200 but not more than $2,000. Reining/Cow Horse: earnings have exceeded $150 but not more than $1, NOVICE: Rider must be eligible for Non-Pro status and be 19 years or older. Cutting: open to riders with earnings up to $200. Reining/Cow Horse: open to riders with earnings up to $ NON-PRO, AMATEUR & NOVICE DIVISIONS: HICHA reserves the right to review and approve all eligibility regardless of earnings towards all non-pro, amateur, novice amateur and novice exhibitors. 18. YOUTH: 18 and under. 19. SBF/SBM: The committee has the right to accept or reject any entry. The horse may be ridden in either a snaffle bit or hackamore, but whichever (snaffle bit or hackamore) is used in the herd work MUST be used in the dry and fence work. 20. NON-PRO LIMITED (BUCKAROO): Any age horse, horses (5) and under may be shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore, horses (6) six and over must be shown in an NRCHA approved bit and romal reins. NO tiedowns, martingales or mechanical hackamores. Cow work: riders will box a cow at the end of the arena to show control of cow, Judge will signal completion of work YEAR OLD IN TRAINING - COW HORSE: Emphasis will be on smoothness and control, not speed. Horses must be shown in a snaffle bit. Running martingale is NOT ALLOWED. To show control, horses should pause after stop. COW HORSE: Horses will be shown in DRY and COW work. Riders will box a cow at the end of the arena to show control of cow, Judge will signal

6 completion of work. 22. SUPER HORSE: Open to any age horse. All four events (herd, rein, fence and steer stopping) will be run in accordance with all NRCHA rules. One exception is there may be a rider switch in the steer stopping event only. The same NRCHA legal bit must be used in all four classes. The romal may be removed during the steer stopping only. The herd work event will be run concurrently with SBF/SBM. There will be no penalties assessed for assistance during this event. Dry and fence work will be run with the Bridle Horse class. Bridle and Super Horse are separate. All bits must be dropped for the judge. Fence work score will be used as the tie breaker in the event a tie occurs. 23. BRIDLE HORSE: Open to horses of any age, to be ridden in an NRCHA approved bit. Reins with romal required. Horses will perform in 3 events: Herd work, Rein work and Fence work. Dry and fence work will be run with the Super Horse class. 24. PAYOUT CHECKS will be mailed after the show. HICHA reserves the right to mail out payout checks following the event if further calculations or more time is required. 25. TROPHY BUCKLES: Trophy buckles will be awarded to the first place finishers for classes with 3 or more entries. 26. SHOOTOUT TROPHY SADDLES: Youth, amateur and open riders who competed in at least 3 jackpot shows on the same horse throughout the year are eligible. The eligible rider/horse combo in youth, amateur and open with the highest cutting score at the championship will win a saddle. 27. ENTRIES: Mail entries and payment to: Kealoha St., Kailua-Kona, Hawai i, ENTRY AND PAYMENT DEADLINE: October 29, LATE ENTRIES: late fee penalty will be 25% of entry fee. NO EXCEPTIONS. Late entries will go last in the herd and first in all other classes. Draw will be completed on November 5, WAIVER must be signed by every rider prior to entering arena. 31. HICHA MEMBERSHIP: All contestants must be current members in good financial standing with the club ED ENTRIES will be accepted through 10/29/16, please request a return receipt when sending. 33. PAYMENT FOR ED ENTRIES must be post marked no later than 10/29/16. Any payments post marked after that date will be considered late and subject to late fees.

7 NRCHA Pattern #2 ~ SBF, SBM, BH, SH Trot to center of arena, stop. Start pattern facing towards judge. 1. Beginning on the left lead, complete 3 circles to the left. The first one large and fast, the second small and slow, the third large and fast. Change leads at the center of arena. 2. Complete 3 circles to the right. The first one large and fast, the sec ond small and slow, and the third large and fast. Change leads at the center of arena. 3. Continue loping to run down. 4. Run to far end past the marker to a sliding stop. Hesitate. 5. Complete 3 1/2 spins to the left. Hesitate. 6. Run to far end past marker to a sliding stop. Hesitate. 7. Complete 3 1/2 spins to the right. Hesitate. 8. Run past center marker to a sliding stop. Hesitate. 9. Back at least 10 feet. Hesitate to complete pattern.

8 NRCHA Pattern #6 ~ Non-Pro Limited and Youth Limited, Novice Buckaroo Trot to center of arena. Start pattern facing towards judge.. 1. Beginning on the right lead lop one circle to the right. Change leads to the left. 2. Complete one circle to the left. Change leads to the right and go to the top of the arena. 3. Run down center of arena pas the end marker and come to a slid ing stop. 4. Complete 2 1/2 spins to the right. 5. Run to the other end of the arena, past the end marker and come to a sliding stop. 6. Complete 2 1/2 spins to the left. 7. Run past the center marker, stop, back at least 10 feet.

9 NRHA Pattern #8 ~ Open, Jr, Non-Pro, Am, Nov. Am, Youth Reining Horses may walk or trot to the center of arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting pattern. Beginning at the center of arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Complete four spins to the left. Hesitate. 2. Complete four spins to the right. Hesitate. 3. Beginning on the right lead, complete three circles to the right: the first circle large and fast; the second circle small and slow; the third circle large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 4. Complete three circles to the left: the first circle large and fast; the sec ond circle small and slow; the third circle large and fast. Change leads at the center of the arena. 5. Begin a large fast circle to the right but do not close this circle. Run straight down the right side of the arena past the center marker and do a left rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence no hesitation. 6. Continue back around the previous circle but do not close this circle. Run down the left side of the arena past the center maker and do a right rollback at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence no hesitation. 7. Continue back around the previous circle but do not close this circle. Run down the right side of the arena past the center marker and do a sliding stop at least twenty feet (six meters) from the wall or fence. Back up at least ten feet (three meters). Hesitate to demonstrate completion of the pattern. Rider must dismount and drop bridle to the designated judge.

10 NRHA Pattern #11 ~ Novice Rider (Adult) Horses may walk or trot to the center of the arena. Horses must walk or stop prior to starting the pattern. Beginning at the center of the arena facing the left wall or fence. 1. Beginning on the left lead, complete two circles to the left. Stop at the center of the arena. Hesitate. 2. Complete two spins to the left. Hesitate. 3. Beginning on the right lead complete two circles to the right. Stop at the center of the arena. Hesitate. 4. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. 5. Beginning on the left lead, go around the end of the arena, run down the right side of the arena past center marker, stop and roll back right. 6. Continue around the end of the arena to run down the left side of the arena past the center marker. Stop. Back up. PATTERN

11 2 Year Old In Training Pattern 1. Jog to the center of the arena. 2. Complete two spins to the left. Hesitate. 3. Complete two spins to the right. Hesitate. 4. Beginning on the left lead, complete two circles to the left: The first circle large and fast; the second small and slow. Change leads at the center of the arena (flying or simple). 5. Complete two circles to the right: The first circle large and fast; the second small and slow. Change leads at the center of the arena (flying or simple). 6. Continue around the end of the arena past the center marker and do a right roll back on the fence. 7. Continue around the end of the arena past the center marker and do a left roll back on the fence. 8. Continue around the end of the arena. At the top of the arena, run down the middle past the center marker and stop your horse. 9. Back at least feet. 10. Hesitate to demonstrate completion of pattern.
