We all know that to stay in the cattle business it requires having functional cattle. It is our goal to produce genetics that will keep your offspring profitable and functional. We select sires with the hopes of improving calving ease, adding pounds, improving disposition and maternal traits. Simmental sires used this year include NLC Buddy, W/C Wide Track, TSN Upgrade, Hammer Time, Welsh Dew It Right, Hooks Broadway, CCR Cowboy Cut, & Angus sire SAV Resource. We are offering Simmental and SimAngusTM bulls from 1/4 Simmental on up to Purebred Simmental. We raise the bulls with no creep, helping us to evaluate the dam s ability to raise a large calf and breed back in a timely fashion. As many of you know this last summer we were in a drought. We feel our cattle did very well in the conditions they had and held good body condition, bred up well, and raised us a big healthy calf. Bulls may be viewed at anytime prior to sale day at the ranch, but no bulls will be sold prior to sale day. Videos can be viewed of bulls on cattleusa.com. That s where $ indexes come in blending EPDs & economics to estimate an animal s overall impact on your bottom line. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry & dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes. All-Purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers & mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained, & the remaining heifers & steers put on feed & sold grade & yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed & sold grade & yield. Kindra had a successful summer, including winning Grand Champion steer at the North Central Regional Simmental Classic as well as winning Champion 4-H Simmental steer at the SDSF. Our boys made us very proud this year in football! The kids helping AI, each of them on their horses.
