The Simmental Industry started from a handful of breeders that had the vision of developing a superior genetic breed that offered a widely diverse path of breeding capabilities, which has become what we all know as the American Simmental Association. Charles Hart was one of few prestigious breeders that went out on a limb, took a chance and never looked back! He knew that with hard work, determination, strict guidelines and the right breeding combinations, would produce the cornerstone cows that put our cattle operation on the map. He dearly loved every aspect of what breeding cattle could possibly bring and met each challenge head on. Though he left this world much to soon to be with his beloved Ruth, he is never far away from our thoughts and we can only hope to keep his passion, vision, love and dream of cattle alive for many years to come. All bulls will be accompanied by health papers for shipment anywhere in the United States. They have been vaccinated for Rednose, P13, BVD, 7-way clostridial, Blackleg, BRSV, Haemophilus, and have had their booster shot at weaning. They have also been dewormed with Safeguard and poured with Ivomec. Dams of all bulls have been tested Johne s free. Genetic Defects: All bulls selling are Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM) Free, Neuropathic Hydrocephalus (NH) Free, and Contractural Arachnodactyly (CA) Free. Delivery: FREE DELIVERY anywhere on bulls purchased over $5,000. We will start delivery February 20 or we can keep the bulls until April 30. 21 HONORING OUR Past... Present... George and Lisa Till George and I have been AI ing our yearling heifers for several years as we don t have the accomodations to breed our herd cows. We then raise the bull calves up to breed our herd cows in the pastures. We get the genetics without working around cows and baby calves, while trying to brand and get pairs to pasture. In 2013 we read an advertisement in the Simmental News magazine about Kerry and Mara Hart s breeding program. George called Kerry and we started getting our semen from them. The first year we used semen from their bull ES Ridgerider YW3. We started calving our heifers March 14th. The avg birthweight was 78 lbs. We then weaned the bull calves and weighed them on Oct 4th. The average ww was 628 lbs. We used two bulls that year and the conception rate from ES Ridgerider YW3 was double the conception rate of the bull from another producer. ES Ridgerider calves also averaged 14 lbs more. Kerry and Mara told us they flush their bulls before they collect which seems to help a lot with conception at breeding time was our first calf crop from the genetics we used from Kerry and Mara Hart s breeding program. We start calving our herd cows April 1st and sell our steer calves the second week in October in Ft. Pierre, SD. We were very excited to see our average weight had risen 20 lbs on our heavy steers. Our calves had been averaging around 590 and that year they were 610 lbs. This year the average weight on the heavy steers was 611. We had a very hot and dry summer and they still were very consistant. We also do not use implants or creep feed our calves. We have since used Hart s bull semen from Warsaw, Harts Mega Watts, Z35, Enticer and B10. When they hit the ground they have their heads up and are ready to go. It makes a lot of difference when it s cold and they re on their feet within a few minutes. We have been very satisfied with the bull genetics and extremely happy with how Kerry and Mara treat us. In February of 2016 we went to their place near Aberdeen and saw all the yearling bulls they had ready for their sale and also their herd sires. Their son Justin showed us around the place and even though they were extremely busy were very welcoming, which is not always easy when you have so much to get done. This year when we pregged tested we were very happy to hear we have nearly and 80% conception rate on the yearling heifers. This is the best we have ever done. We heat detect and breed them in a 6 day period. March may be very busy. Hope we have some decent weather.
