8 Tooele County 4-H Achievement Program This is the H Achievement scorecard for the 4-H Achievement Program. This incentive program is to encourage 4-H youth to become even more involved in 4-H. Youth must be official 4-H age (8 and in 3rd grade as of October 1st of the current 4-H year) to be eligible for this program. Keep track of your 4-H activities throughout the year on this individual scorecard. Turn the scorecard in at the 4-H Office on or before October 9 th along with your 4-H Portfolio, if you are entering one. Awards will be presented at the 4-H Achievement Night in November. The awards are 4-H bucks that can be used to pay for 4-H activities such as Super Saturday, 4-H Camp, JYC & i4-h Camp and fees for county sponsored 4-H events. They can also be used to pay for 4-H Horse Show fees &/or stalls, Tooele County livestock show fees &/or stalls and the purchase of broiler chicks and turkey poults. There are 3 levels of awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze. The number of points needed for each award level increases as 4-H youth grow from Junior (grades 3-5) to Intermediate (grades 6-8) to Senior (grades 9-12). The Bronze award ($10) is the easiest to earn for all three age groups. 4-H youth record their points on the scorecard, sign it and turn it in. Every event on the card is worth one point unless indicated differently. Attend county 4-H activities and events, enter projects into the fair, write thank-you notes to sponsors, and attend the 4-H achievement night and most youth will earn the Bronze award. Silver ($25) and Gold ($50) are a little bit more challenging. For Silver, youth must either participate in an approved 4-H Contest at the county level or enter a 4-H Portfolio for county judging on October 9 th. To earn Gold, youth must do both, participate in an approved county level contest and enter a complete and updated 4-H Portfolio. Please list for us the contest(s) in which you participated. There are many approved county contests held at various times during the year. There is a contest for everyone! Demonstrations and talent contests are held in June. Jr. Livestock Judging and the fashion and table-setting contests are held as part of the Tooele County 4-H Fair/Livestock Show. The 4-H Portfolio is a record of a 4-H youth s experiences in 4-H. Official green dividers and instructions are available at the 4-H office. We would love to help you with your 4-H Portfolio. Come in and see us. If you have questions, please call or
