The 2011West Virginia Quality Assurance program will offer 2450 steers and 1430 heifers of which 700 steers and 300heifers that will qualify for All Natural Programs. The numbers are down from previous years but the quality is still improving. Please note the phone number is different so call if you would like to participate in the sale. The producers have adopted a comprehensive herd health program that includes vaccinating the cows and the calves in early spring with IBR PI3, BVD then the calves get everything again twice as part of the preconditioning program. Calves are USDA approved source and age verified by Integrated Traceability Solutions or Angus Source and all producers are BQA certified. This year the sale will begin with all the steer calves qualifying for All Natural programs. The heifers will be sold immediately following the steers. The WV and Penn producers represented in this sale in many cases have been participating for more than 15 years they take great pride in developing a quality set of calves for the program. Everyone is aggressively striving for genetic improvement, have adopted the BQA guidelines and a strenuous herd health program. Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim has continued to partner with producers providing support and assistance with the BQA program. All the pharmaceutical companies are willing to assist your attending veterinarians with diagnostic assistance if any group of calves vaccinated with their products should the buyer experience animal health problems. We need you to contact us right away if you are experiencing problems so we can contact the technical support veterinarians. Note that the Silver Program calves are not weaned but have followed the same vaccination protocol as the Gold Program including the boosters. All boosters have been administered at least 30 days prior to delivery. history on these calves is excellent. See the health programs on the following page for explanation of the health programs. Many pools weigh calves individually to improve uniformity but most importantly to collect performance data. To maintain source and age verification please do not remove the eartags from these calves. All calves can be traced back to the producer. If you purchase calves you will be receiving a packet explaining the health products used and a list of all calves purchased. Producers are trying to recover as much data as possible. If you will share they can continue to improve the quality of the calves. The purchase of WV Quality Assurance calves helps reduce your exposure to risk by purchasing healthy genetically superior cattle. You will not be disappointed with the performance and will be pleased with how

2 easy the calves are to handle. There are few cooperative feeder calf programs that have had producers working over the past 25years to produce high quality feeder cattle. You can put the genetics in this program up against any in the country and the improved health is just a bonus. Each load of calves within a pool will be offered separately you don t have to buy the whole lot in the larger pools but choice and privilege will be offered for loads within a lot. Please note pick-up times and conditions. Most the larger groups need to be coordinated to move on the same day. The calves are loaded heavy to light so the lightest partial loads may vary from the advertised number of head. Please give Sam Garrett or myself a call to reserve a position on the teleauction.
