FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, 2018 NO ENTRY FORM WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DATE AND TIME INDICATED EXCEPT FOR SPECIFIC DEPARTMENTS AS INDICATED. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to make sure that his or her entry form is received in the Fair Office on or before the deadline. ALBANY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS EXTRA CARE IN THE HOUSING AND HANDLING OF OFF LABEL VACCINATED ANIMALS. AS A RESULT OF THIS RECOMMENDATION, GOATS WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE VACCINATED BEFORE 28 DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT OUR FAIR. 1. Before making entries, read General Rules and Regulations, Standards for Conduct of Fairs, Animal Health Requirements and IAFE National Code of Show Ring Ethics. Entries open to all exhibitors. 2. With the exception of Class 1, only registered animals are eligible for entry in this department. Registration papers must be available. 3. Ages of all animals in this department will be computed from the date of birth to date of show. 4. No parking of trucks or other vehicles in goat barn area. EXHIBITORS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SLEEP IN THE GOAT BARN. 5. Each exhibitor will supply his own feed and bedding. 6. A maximum of two premiums shall be awarded to any one exhibitor in any one lot. Ribbons shall be awarded as judged. 7. All animals shown in group of special lots must have been shown in their regular lot. 8. ADGA registration of all animals six months of age or older is required, kids under 6 months of age may be shown but must be registered to show proof that application for registration has been received by the ADGA office (a duplicate application stamped showing date received by ADGA office is required to serve as proof of application for registry of recordation). 9. Open doe show, ADGA Rules will govern. Show order is subject to change to ensure the show runs in a timely manner. 10. Any milking animal showing over distention of the udder is subject to discrimination by the judge. There is no pre show milk out. 11. Official Milking Competition, ADGA rules will govern. The date for the milk test in 2018 is Thursday, August 16 6:00 p.m. All animals entered in the Milking Competition MUST be on the fairgrounds by 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 13. The dates for the Milking Competition are August 16 and State Veterinarian health check Monday August 14, animals must be in place by 2:00 p.m. Please read Animal Health Requirements for rules governing USDA identification. 13. Open Doe Lots will start immediately at the conclusion of Class 2 Fitting and Showmanship. 14. Check of entries, lots and registration papers to be conducted prior to show day. Mandatory meeting for all goat exhibitors Monday, at 6:00 p.m. 15. Please indicate on entry form the total number of animals exhibited in this department. 16. NO HORNS - NO BUCKS. Exhibitors must ensure their animals are safe, cared for, and that their exhibit space is kept clean. Failure to do so may result in exhibitors being barred from future participation at the Altamont Fair. 17. All animal exhibits will close at 7 PM on Sunday. Release time depends on weather and traffic conditions but should be no later than 9 PM. Superintendent will announce exact time after consultation with Fair officials. 18. Best doe and Best junior doe in show lot held at end of Dairy Goat Show. Market goats to be judged immediately following the conclusion of the open doe show. 19. The junior and senior shows are not separately sanctioned. 20. There will be a designated area for the parking of all livestock trailers. You will no longer be able to park anywhere on the hill or along the fence line by the barns. 21. EXHIBITORS AND SPECTATORS ARE PROHIBITED FROM BRINGING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ONTO THE FAIRGROUNDS. ANYONE IN VIOLATION OF THIS MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE, FORFEIT THEIR PREMIUMS AND/OR MAY BE REFUSED FUTURE PARTICIPATION IN THE FAIR. Animals may be exhibited ONE time per lifetime. A market animal, by definition, is sold at market. It is not a pet to return each year. The contest will be judged on the basis of the best job fitting and trimming a goat within one hour. 2. Goats to be provided by exhibitor. 3. Goats must be in natural condition with at least ¾ inches of hair. 4. Hoof trimming to be done prior to lot; hoof cleaning to be done during lot. Use of farm sign and marking of exhibits. 4. Cooperation with Superintendent and others in keeping his entire exhibit neat and attractive. Pens will be checked daily, except for show day. Costume is open to all ages. Contest judged on originality and creative costuming. 2. Leaders and goat should be in costume. 3. Lot 1 through 4 consists of one handler and one animal. 4. Lot 5 to consist of more than one handler and or goat. 5. Leader does not have to own goat. 6. Fun Photo OFFICIAL ONE- DAY TEST DAIRY GOAT MILKING COMPETITION - ADGA SANCTIONED Tester: Jeremy Urquhart - Dairy One Tattoos must be clearly legible and match the registration or the doe will be disqualified from the competition This test allows does to get their ADGA milker designation. This competition is open to any goat registered or recorded in ADGA, AGS or CGS. Registration papers and freshening dates are required. The goats planning to participate in the test must be on the fairgrounds 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 13. Milk production will be measured for a 24 hour period. The first milk out will be Thursday August 16 at 6 PM. The test day will be August 17, 7:30 AM and 6 PM. Any ADGA registered or recorded standard breed goat that receives 18 or more points and any ADGA registered miniature breed goat that receives 7 or more points will be awarded an automatic *M designation. Points shall be given for quantity of milk, for a period of time since last kidding, and for butterfat as follows: a) For each pound of milk, one point figured to one decimal place. b) For each complete ten days the goat has been in milk since last kidding, one tenth (.1) of a point with a maximum of 3.6 points for standard breeds and.04 of a point with a maximum of 1.44 points for miniature breeds. c) For each.05 pounds of butterfat yielded in the milkings, one point. SUNDAY In lieu of the Open Doe Show, previously scheduled in this time slot, there will now be a fun day obstacle course. No entry fees, no monetary awards. For details please contact the superintendent in charge of this department. 1. The Fun Photo is based on humor and laughter. The Fun Photo will only be judged on the subject of the photo. The Fun Photo must be entered under the category of Fun Photo. 2. Sizes of photos accepted: 3 ½ x 5, 4 x 6, 5x 7, 8 x Judging will be in the following areas: (5 points each for a maximum of 25 points.) a. Composition the overall picture b. Lighting contrasts on colors, shading, etc. c. Sharpness of image how focused is this picture d. Viewer s Eye what is the first thing a person sees in your photo? e. Campers will be received starting Saturday August 13, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. Under no circumstances is a camper to be placed on a site without the express permission of the Altamont Fair. If you must bring your camper to the grounds before August 11 prior approval must be obtained from the Altamont Fair. If a camper is placed without approval, it will be moved and you will be charged a $50 removal fee. For a pump-out you must notify the main office to receive the appropriate tag for that day s schedule. This tag is to be placed in a prominent location on the camper. Pumping of sites is scheduled from 7-9 a.m. daily.
