1 Beef Rules & Regulations 1. The ENTRY DEADLINE is November 25, Late entries subject to a $50 late fee. 2. The $150 entry fee must be paid before an entry will be accepted. *NEW this year Entry Fees will be retained. Entry Fees provide you with an advertising benefit. Consignor s options will include listings on the Classic website with a link to the consignor s website. Consignors will have two personal marketing posts on the Classic Social media sites. This does not include promotion of your Classic Sale Features. This advertising option is for your own sale. Consignors will be listed on blasts to cattlemen all across the Midwest. 3. Entries will be accepted online at our website: Read the Online Instructions carefully before beginning the online entry process. If you have entered on line before, make sure you use your user name and password to obtain your file already in the computer. JUST HIT SEND ME MY LOGIN! If there are any questions about the online entry process, please contact the Classic Office at After your entry is complete online, you must send in your signed consignor consent form, along with copies of registration papers and entry fees to the Classic Office (PO Box 607, Kearney, NE 68848). 5. Please contact Ronette at on the correct way to submit a picture. ALL PICTURES ARE FREE! Classic Management reserves the right to determine the usage of the picture. Pictures for print must be submitted with entries. On-line pictures can be added at anytime. Pictures are highly recommended for HELPING YOU sell YOUR ANIMAL! a jpeg to rkbush@frontiernet.net 6. All Individual Breed Rules are set in cooperation with the respective Breed Association. All entries are subject to a screening committee approval. All entries are eligible to compete in the Nebraska Cattlemen s Classic Supreme Row if selected as the Breed Champion. 7. All animals, unless screened, must sell. The sale commission is 9% on the sale price. A minimum of 50% of an animal must sell. The Nebraska Cattlemen's Classic reserves to management the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and to arbitrarily settle or determine all matters, questions or differences in regard to the show and sale. Breed Sales may feature embryo packages, flush opportunities, pregnant recips or semen packages. These sale features must be registered with the respective Associations. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Hereford Association. Entries must be a Horned Hereford according to the American Hereford Association.. All eligible female entries must include a check for $50 made payable to the NHA for the Junior Futurity. The Nebraska Hereford Association charges an additional 1% sales commission this year. This commission will assist in hosting the Hereford Junior National event in Nebraska July Red Angus Breed Representatives: David Orr, North Platte, NE Rosie Wilson, Loup City, NE Hillary Deets, Pleasanton, NE Corey Cable, Nebraska Red Angus Assn., Bertrand, NE The 2018 Red Angus Show will be a no fit show. Consignors must be a member of the Nebraska Red Angus Association. Entries must be registered as a 1A or 1B Red Angus with the Red Angus Association. Heifer calves (born after January 1, 2017 and before August 31, 2017) must be entered in the NRAA Futurity to be paid out at the Junior Beef Expo and the Nebraska State Fair. All heifer calf entries must include a $50 payable to the NRA.
3 Angus Breed Representatives: Dick Hollman, Hallam, NE Jeremy Schulte, Kearney, NE Suzy Hebbert, Nebraska Angus Assn., Ashby, NE CLOSED to Nebraska Breeders - Bulls and Females The 2018 Angus Show will be a fit show. Consignors are limited to current members of the NE Angus Association, operating legitimately within the state of Nebraska. NAA member must appear as the first owner on the registration papers to show at the Classic. Nebraska Angus Association Dues Must be PAID by Feb. 1st! The form can be found at Go to membership page to download the form. Simmental Breed Representatives: Greg Sisco, Ute, NE Dallas Woltemath, Amherst, NE Diane Duren, Nebraska Simmental Assn., Rising City, NE The 2018 Simmental Show will be a fit show. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Simmental Association. NSA dues are due by Feb. 1. Dues will increase from $60 to $120 after Feb. 1. All dues have to be paid prior to checking in Classic Entry. Entries must be registered with the American Simmental Association as a ½ blood or higher. (Non-Simmental Sired entries ARE allowed) Bulls must be born prior to March 31, All bulls must pass a semen test. Documentation must be provided at Classic check-in. Female age requirements are September 2015 September There will be a Foundation Show which will include 50%-74.99% Simmental and a Purebred Show of 75% or greater as long as both divisions have 25 head each. The 3/4 bloods will show in the Purebred Show. The NSA and the NCC reserves the right to combine the shows if each division does not meet the entry requirements of the Nebraska Cattlemen s Classic. Genetic status must be printed in the catalog. An EPD, weight, and scrotal measurement data sheet will be provided to the judge. The Classic show is NOT BASED ON THE DATA SHEET. The judge will have the choice on how to use the data. All entries must be clean of genetic defects. For DNA questions and clarification on genetic status of an animal contact the American Simmental Association at If the American Simmental Association finds the animal to have a CL, DL or PR in the ASA genetic defects that entry must be tested. 4 Charolais Breed Representatives: Mitch Benes, Valparaiso, NE Kristian Rennert, Elm Creek, NE The 2018 Charolais Show will be a no fit show. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Charolais Association. Memberships must be paid by check-in time. Entries must be registered with American International Charolais Association. The Nebraska Charolais Association charges an additional 0.5% sales commission. Limousin Auctioneer: Bruce Brooks, Marietta, OK Breed Representatives: Kevin Ochsner, Kersey, CO Jamie Watts, Fairfield, NE Gerald Gustafson, West Point, NE The 2018 Limousin Show will be a no fit show. Entries must be registered with North American Limousin Foundation. Entries must be registered as LimFlex (50% or greater). Entries not registered as a LimFlex or purebred, must be a registered as 3/4 blood or higher. Yearling bulls will have a minimum adjusted scrotal of 31 cm. Entries will be weighed and measured at the show. Gelbvieh/Balancer Auctioneer: Tracy Harl, Loup City, Ne Breed Representatives: JJ Boehler, Orleans, NE Kyle Helms, Arapahoe, NE The 2018 Gelbvieh/Balancer Show will be a no fit show. Consignors must be members of both the Nebraska and American Gelbvieh Associations for Out of state consignors may buy a membership for $50. Entries must be registered as Purebred Gelbvieh or as Balancers with the American Gelbvieh Association. Heifers born prior to June 1, 2016 must be safe in calf or have a calf at side. Entries will be weighed and scrotal measured at check-in. This information will be in the show programs. GAIN is charging $100 per entry for the Jackpot for Junior National Division Winners. This cash award is for youth purchasing heifers at the Classic and showing at Junior Nationals. This $100 goes directly to GAIN.
5 Shorthorn Auctioneer: Bruce Brooks, Marietta, OK Breed Representatives: Greg Crawford, Roca, NE Ryan Kegley, Kearney, NE OPEN SALE (The 2018 Show will be open to all states.) - Bulls and Females The 2018 Shorthorn Show will be a fit show. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Shorthorn Association. Entries must be registered as a Purebred with the American Shorthorn Association. No bulls will be accepted with a birth weight over 99 pounds. Bulls must be born prior to April 30, Heifer calf entries must include a check for $50 made payable to NSA for the Junior Futurity. Consignors are required to list the genetic defect status in the footnote of the entry. Entries must be TH tested unless the parents are verified TH Free. Results must be provided with entry. Shorthorn Plus (Division of the Shorthorn Show) OPEN SALE (The 2018 Show will be open to all states.) - Bulls and Females The 2018 Shorthorn Show will be a fit show. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Shorthorn Association. Entries must be registered as an Appendix Shorthorn with the American Shorthorn Association. Consignors are required to list the genetic defect status in the footnote of the entry. Entries must be TH tested unless the parents are verified TH Free. Results must be provided with entry. There will be a champion in each division selected, but the two division champions will compete for one overall Shorthorn Champion and Reserve Champion. Maine Anjou, MaineTainer and Maine-Angus Breed Representatives: Greg Christo, Albion, NE Kent Schlake, Gothenburg, NE The 2018 Maine Anjou and MaineTainer Show will be a fit show. There will be a champion in each division selected, but the two division champions will compete for one overall Maine Anjou Champion and Reserve Champion. Consignors must be members of the Nebraska Maine Association. Entries must carry Maine Anjou or MaineTainer papers. All entries must provide the TH and PHA status. Please indicate if Carrier or Free. Bulls are required to have a minimum scrotal measurement of 30 cm adjusted to 1 year of age. Bred heifers must be bred to a bull that is TH and PHA Free.
6 Chianina Breed Representatives: Greg Christo, Albion, NE Terry Tonniges, Gresham, NE The 2018 Chianina Show will be a fit show. Entries must be registered as a Chianina, Chimaine or Chiangus in the American Chianina Association. Bulls must have a minimum scrotal measurement is 28 cm unless the bull has passed a semen test. Bulls over one year must have satisfactory semen test. All entries must provide genetic defect status results. The TH and PHA status is required. Please indicate if Carrier or Free. Embryo Packages, the Right to Flush, Pregnant Recipients & Semen Packages These Sale Features are to be entered in the respective Breed Sales. Club Calf sale features can choose the Prospect Steer or Fancy Heifer Sale. All guarantees will be between the buyer and seller. The sale commission will be 8%. The entry fee will be $150 per lot entered. The entry fee is retained as an advertising fee. Sellers must provide all information on the embryos, flushes, semen and pregnancies offered for sale. All settlements will be made the day of the sale at the Nebraska Cattlemen s Classic. All guarantees and adjustments will be between the buyer and seller. Embryo Packages Packages must consist of a minimum of three embryos. All details of the package must be outlined with entry. (Indicate in the entry the number of embryos being offered. The Right to Flush A minimum of six grade one, transferable embryos are guaranteed to the buyer. All details of the flush will be documented with the entry. Semen Packages All semen is guaranteed to be of acceptable quality but no guarantee is made as to the conception rate. However, in all cases, the buyer will be responsible for all shipping arrangements and expense. Pregnant Recipients All details of the pregnancy will be outlined with entry. In the case of already realized pregnancies (i.e. embryos that have been implanted and confirmed pregnant) the buyer will pay 100% of the purchase price sale day. Each of these recipient females has been examined for pregnancy by a qualified vet and is fully guaranteed to be carrying the mating described in its respective lot on or about the time agreed upon by the buyer and the seller.
