The silent auction method significantly reduces our sale costs. And we are passing those savings on to you by lowering prices. Each lot has a minimum and maximum bid number. Here s how it works: 1. Get a bid number during sale day or in advance of the sale by calling, faxing, or ing either Jon or Liz. 2. Each lot will have a bidding sheet at the sale. Write your bid number and bid amount on the sheet. 3. Bidding begins on Nov. 1 and closes at 1:00 p.m. on sale day. Lunch and refreshments will be served all day. 4. If you want to place a bid early or are not able to come to the sale then you can also call Jon or Liz to place bids. 5. Those bid sheets that have reached the maximum bid will be taken out of the sale as they are received. BULL CONDITIONING The bulls are in their working clothes and are ready to breed cows. They have not been clipped or groomed. Their feed is forage, just our hay and grass. We want them to be lean athletic breeding machines. The bulls are virgin and they get lots of exercise which provides stamina and sound feet and legs. Our system has worked well over the past 28 years for our customers. Rarely do we get a bull back. REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES Please let us know if you want the registration certificates transferred to your name. All cattle have registration certificates. CALVING EASE We have identified the cattle with calving ease with a symbol in the catalog. They qualify for calving ease based on the analysis of actual numbers, EPD s and our experience with the bull and dam. HEALTH Bulls have been fertility tested; Females Bang s vaccinated, and pregnancy tested by our veterinarian, Mike Marrinan, DVM, Hot Springs, MT All cattle have been 8-way vaccinated and had pour-on for external and internal parasites in the past 30 days. VOLUME PURCHASE DISCOUNT If you buy 3 to 8 head, we will give you a 5% discount on all your purchases. 9 to 14 head receives a 7.5% discount. If you buy 15 head or more there is a 10% discount on all cattle purchased. GUARANTEE All cattle sell fully guaranteed. If you are not satisfied, we will return your purchase price or replace your purchase with a mutually acceptable animal at your option. Please do not sell your animal without calling us first. BIRTH AND CURRENT WEIGHTS Actual birth and current weights for all cattle are provided in the catalog. TRANSPORTATION We will provide free delivery of your purchases anywhere in the United States up to the first 250 miles, then at a cost thereafter. If you haul your own, we will we will rebate $50.00 a head for the first purchase and $15.00 a head for the remaining purchase of up to $ OUR HERD BULL STRATEGY All of our herd sires are owned by us. They are on our ranches and breed our cows naturally. This gives us the advantage of getting to know the bull s calving ease, disposition, stamina, fleshing ability and longevity. If we buy a bull and later find that he doesn t meet our criteria, then he is no longer used on our registered cows. 3 To: Our Friends and Customers: 31st PRODUCTION SALE, SATURDAY, May 27th, 2017 BIDDING BEGINS ON May 18th AND ENDS May 27th AT 1:00PM AT THIS YEAR S SPRING SALE we are selling 51 cattle: 5 Registered Angus Bulls, 6 Registered Purebred Wagyu Bulls- 2 Year Old s 12 Registered Purebred Wagyu Yearling Bulls 28 Registered Purebred Bred Wagyu Yearling Heifers. These are a difficult time in the cattle business. The worst is over. Prices have dropped more than 50% in the last 12 months. Cattle-Fax recently came out with the actual numbers from October 23, 2015 to October 21, For example, a year ago 450# steers were selling at $ per CWT. In October 2016 that price was $110 a loss. Today- May 1, 2017 is now $ compared to $134 a year ago. LUNCH: Starting at Noon we will serve another great lunch featuring homemade beef at its best and our liquid refreshments that are so well liked. Lunch and refreshments will continue until Sale Day is over. Feel free to come and bring others even if you are not buying. OUR 30 TH PRODUCTION YEAR: We have had good years by pricing our cattle at fair and reasonable costs. We are proud of our cow herd. 100% of our semen testing for all this year passed with excellent results. They are noted in the catalog. We have a strong feeling that our children and grandchildren can carry on with the ranch and cattle. With this in mind, we will offer one Wagyu Heifer for one student who is active in 4-H and/or FAA. 4 My dad helped me start our registered Angus herd in the mid 1950 s. In 1993 our Wagyu herd was started by using semen from Washington State University. We bred a few of our registered Angus heifers. At calving time, we were amazed at the low birth weights with no calving problems. The best of our Wagyu heifer calves were registered with the American Wagyu Association. In 1999, for the first time, we put five purebred Wagyu in our production sale. At that time the breed had not been offered in a public sale in Montana. Since then we have included the Wagyu breed in our production sales. The Angus influence in our Wagyu herd is significant. Over the past 22 years we have selected only the best Wagyu/Angus heifers to put back in the herd. Weaning weights have increased significantly. The hybrid DNA is significant for milk, energy, and vigor.
