2 Cattle Handling Clinic & Cinch RSNC Sorting at B.W. Pickett Equine Center, Colorado State University, Fort Collins ~Pre-register for this event by filling out separate registration form, or click on link found on flyer. Registration is $60, and is open to 60 riders on a first come, first served basis. Please reserve your spot by March 6, 5pm. After 60 spots are filled, others are welcome to observe and learn on foot for $25. There is no charge for all other non-school observers. ~Riders will be divided on Saturday morning into adult and youth groups, then expertise. All classes will run concurrently throughout the day. ~Clinicians & Speakers: Friday: Ralph Glenn- Professional Trainer, Judge Saturday: Cody Dawson- Professional Trainer, 4H Leader, CSU Stock Horse Team Assistant Coach, Keith Hill and Justin Riley- Professional Trainers; Dr. Doug Householder- Professor, Coach, Trainer, Judge, Jessie Dillon- Professional Trainer Sunday: Pastor Mark Fellina- Cowboy Church ~Lunch: Adams Classroom. BYO lunch or order/purchase box lunch at check-in. ~Performance Horse Readiness Check Halter, handkerchief and pocketknife and small flashlight needed for class. Several great topics in this presentation for junior and senior 4-H ers on method demonstration. ~Graduation- Saturday at 3:45pm Graduates receive an Cinch RSNC graduation certificate and complimentary 1-year membership. There will also be drawings for other great prizes! ~Western Heritage Class- Saturday at 4:30pm Cinch RSNC s newest class! Here are the rules from the Cinch RSNC Handbook: This class is used to fine-tune the cattle reading and handling skills of the contestant and also to attract a whole new population of contestants who may be intimidated by the speed of competition in many of our events. Those who excel in slow and quiet cattle management will now have a game to be very competitive in. In this class, all standard RSNC rules will remain, with the addition of two new ones.

3 1. a) Limited to a trot or walk by the sorter: Loping after one stride by the sorter will result in a no time. The gate person can go at any speed to defend the gate as a defensive move however they cannot lope toward or into the herd to sort cattle. 2. b) Verbal noise, by either contestant, intended to influence the cattle is prohibited. Shouting by either rider to intimidate the cattle will result in a no time, however; non-verbal noises such as whistling, clucking, slapping chaps, etc. are all common practices among cattlemen and are allowed. Western Heritage classes ~Beginners- Open to any novice rider on a novice horse. Riders and horses have virtually no experience working cattle. May pick/draw partner. Five run max. Buckles to champion team, other awards to 2 nd -6 th place. ~Rookies- Open to any rookie rider on a rookie horse. Rookies have some, but limited experience working cattle. Buckles to champion team, other awards to 2 nd - 6 th place. ~All Levels- Open to any rider on any horse. Champion team receives $400 and Dennis Moreland trophy spurs, other awards to 2 nd -6 th place. Class Fee per rider Payback Western Heritage (Beginner & Rookie) $18 50% Western Heritage (All levels) $23 50% *Sorting entry fees accepted at show. *Points earned go toward June 2018 National Show Western Heritage qualification. ~4-H Ranch Horse Clinic- Sunday 9am-noon Cattle and pens are available. Location will depend on weather- either Pickett Arena or outdoor arena behind Legends Sale Barn. ~Stalls are available for $13/night. Open Thursday, March 8 through Monday, March 12. Reserve stalls on form below. Bring your own shavings.
