2 DIRECTIONS Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo I-90 to Central States Fairgrounds Take Exit 59 and travel South on LaCrosse St approximately 2½ miles. Horse Sale horses will check-in at the Event Center on the West side in the warm-up arena. Check-in on Thursday, January 30 from 11 am - 5 pm. Horse Sale Stalling Horse Sale Check-In Central States Fairgrounds to Civic Center Go north 1 block on LaCrosse St. Turn left on Omaha St and travel west 1.1 miles. Turn right on 5th St and the Civic Center will be to the left.3 miles. Load In & Out Load in and out will operate from east to west around Rushmore Hall at the Civic Center. Please enter the Civic Center Parking Lot off Haines Ave (5th St.). After horses are unloaded at Rushmore Hall please continue around to the west side and pull back around to the Journey Museum for Trailer Parking. There will be BHSS Directors helping shuttle people and tack back and forth.

A two day horse sale, with buyers from across the United States, will officially open the 57th Annual Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo. The sale is scheduled for Friday, January 30th at 2:00 pm and Saturday, January 31st at 2:00 pm at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in downtown Rapid City. Our market for well seasoned, trained horses, has never been stronger. Please give consideration to this select sale when planning your marketing strategy. The advertises throughout the country in print, radio, television, and internet. Once again, horseauctions.com will be providing Internet sale coverage. Enclosed is the 2015 Exiss/Sooner Horse Sale consignment form. Read the form carefully as there are some changes. Now is the time to take a professional, quality picture, of a possible consignment for catalog purposes. Again this year, catalogs will be in full color. In order for a consignment to be considered, it must be accompanied by registration papers, signed transfer if applicable, a brief video displaying the horse at a walk, jog, and lope and any discipline in which the horse is trained (videos MUST be on a YouTube Link for the committee to view), the signed consignment form, and consignment fee. 4 Ranch Horse Select Sale Up to 12 Horses will be selected to sell in the Ranch Horse Select Sale during the Horse Sale on Friday. Due to the demand for a well finished Ranch Horse, the BHSS Horse Sale Committee will have a section featuring well broke, all-around ranch horses in a Ranch Horse Select Sale during the Horse Sale on Friday, January 30th. Limited to 12 Horses. Horses must be at least 4 years old at the time of consignment. Horses must be shown in the Ranch Horse preview on Friday. You will have 5 minutes to preview your horse in a short trail course, simple reining maneuvers and on cattle (which will include roping the cow after you have finished working). Auctioneer: Lynn Weishaar Reva, SD Pedigrees: John E. Johnson Piedmont, SD To be considered for the Ranch Horse Select Sale, a video is required. Entry WILL NOT be considered without a video. A quality picture is also required at time of consignment. Videos will be used to screen horses that will be accepted for the Ranch Horse Sale. Video to include: (1) close-up shot of the horse without a saddle showing each side, front and rear views with all four legs clearly visible. (2) Working shots of the horse (basic ranch maneuvers, roping (not out of a box), and working cattle. Other shots such as kids riding, trailer loading, etc will be helpful for the committee. Show to the best of your horses ability - Video your horse as if you were selling him off the video. Working shots can be made inside or outside of an arena or both. Committee s final selection will be based on the videos received. 5 Black Hills Stock Show & Rodeo January 25- February Entry Rules and Regulations * Please Review Carefully Horse Sale Friday, January 30 & Saturday, January 31 The BHSS Horse Sale Committee Reserves the right to accept or reject any consignment submitted for consideration 1. CONSIGNMENTS CLOSE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2014 AT 5:00 PM. DEADLINE IS DEFINITE. All entries must be received in the Office by Nov. 14th! The Horse Sale Committee and Office will not accept telephone entries. The Sale Committee may accept or reject any consignment. Their decision is final. Receiving order does not determine sale order. 2. Photos are not required but may help sell your horse IF IT IS A GOOD PHOTO! Photos will be used at the discretion of the Horse Sale Committee. Photos are not guaranteed to be printed in the catalog. The Horse Sale Catalog will be full color! A. All photos submitted with consignments for publication are at the risk and liability of the consignor. The Black Hills Stock Show shall not be liable for any copyright infringements. B. If a photo is submitted electronically or on a disc - it is not the responsibility of the committee to make sure it is compatible with our system. When in doubt send both disc/ and hard copy. Also, when submitting photos on a disc make sure it is a jpg or tif file and that the pictures are clearly marked with the horse s name. C. Recommendations for submitting photos: 1. If ing photos Use jpg or tif format 300 dpi is best 2. Send original photo that we can scan. Photos that have been printed on regular paper do not reproduce as well as the original. 3. First impressions are everything, so only the highest quality, most flattering photos will be used. 4. Professional Quality pictures of the sale horse are encouraged and may be used at the discretion of the Sale Committee. 5. Helpful Hints: Horses can be saddled or at halter, but be mindful to have your horse standing square, with ears alert and forward. Try to stand your horse where the background is free of any object if possible. We will accept working shots of horses as well. 3. Consignment fee is $200 per head and must accompany this form. A video of each consignment must also accompany sale entry along with registration papers, signed transfer, and consignment fee. The video shall display the horse at a walk, jog, and lope and any discipline in which the horse is trained. Videos must be on a YouTube link (this is the easiest way for the committee to view consignments). 4. All registration certificates must be in the consignor s name by consignment deadline. THE BLACK HILLS STOCK SHOW WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY DOUBLE TRANSFERS. 5. NO SUBSTITUTES. A $200 withdrawal fee will be charged for any horse that is pulled from the sale without a vet release. (this will be strictly enforced!!) 6. In addition to the Consignment fee of $200, the BHSS will charge an additional: 7% commission on horses selling under $2,500. 6% commission on horses selling from $2,500 - $3,500. 5% commission on horses selling over $3, If there are multiple consignments please indicate which horse would be a priority consignment. Horse Sale Committee will determine sale dates and catalog order for the consignments. 8. Sale dates are Friday, January 30 and Saturday, January 31, Both sales will begin promptly at 2:00 pm. Horses will be previewed from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Event Center at the Fairgrounds. BHSS reserves the right to change time and or location of the horse sale check-in, preview, and sale. Page 3

6 9. Check-in time is 11:00 am - 5:00 pm Thursday, January 29th. ALL HORSES consigned MUST report to the check-in station at the West end of the Event Center on the Fairgrounds where they will receive their inspection and hip numbers by the Screening Committee. At the time of check-in, all sale horses must present a health certificate, not more than 30 days old, and a negative Coggins test, not more than six months old. Health papers and Coggins will be given to purchasers. Horses will be screened by the Screening Committee for but not limited to thriftiness, soundness, disposition, and future usefulness. The Screening Committee will consist of at least three people. 10. It is MANDATORY that all consignors attend a meeting at 5:00 pm, Thursday, January 29 at the Event Center. 11. Horses rejected at screening will not be sold. The consignment fee will not be refunded. All blemishes must be noted on consignment form. 12. Blood and/or urine testing may be done at the discretion of the buyer within twelve (12) hours of the horse changing ownership. 13. All mares that will be sold as bred must have a Vet Certificate issued within ten days of the sale stating that the mare has been checked and is with foal, otherwise the mare will be sold as open. 14. Stalls will be available on the Fairgrounds for sale consignments. The sale will be held in Rushmore Hall at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in downtown Rapid City. It is the responsibility of the consignor to have his or her consignment(s) present at the Civic Center at sale time and also to transport their consignment(s) back to the Fairgrounds if the buyer requests. Horses will be tied prior to sale at the Civic Center. Consignor must furnish feed, water and care for horses until the horse(s) are sold. 15. Final consignment numbers will be at the discretion of the BHSS Horse Sale Committee. 16. All horses consigned to the sale must enter the sale ring, unless screened, and must be sold to a buyer with check written and presented to the clerk for payment. If the animal does not enter the sale ring, a no sale fee will automatically be assessed against the animal plus any applicable fees. 14. All leg wrapping or any other wrapping must be removed prior to entering the Sale Ring. 15. No one will be allowed in the Sale Ring except ringmen and a bonafide seller for the horse. 16. NO SALES - All consigners that No Sale will be charged a flat fee of $ It is the obligation of the SELLER to notify the auctioneer of any No Sale before the horse leaves the Sale Ring. 18. Number system will be used. Buyers must obtain and sign terms of purchase agreement. 19. The Management, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center or their Employees will not be responsible for any injury to or loss of any animal or accidents thereby or any injury or loss of life to any participants or spectators during the Stock Show. 20. The Horse Sale Committee reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, or differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of, or connected with, or incident to, the Sale. 21. Each consignor accepts the responsibility of guaranteeing his own horse(s) to be in sound, healthy condition and has the privilege of giving additional guarantee on his horse(s) at the time of their sale in the Sale Ring. The Horse Sale Committee does not act as an agent for or represent either the buyer or seller but merely provides an environment for binding together buyer and seller for the purpose of sale transactions. If an adjustment needs to be made, it must be made between the purchaser and the consignor. 22. All consignors will be held to Terms & Conditions of Consignment whether or not you read and/or sign the contract. 23. If the nominated horse is not accepted for the sale, the entry fee and all related paperwork will be returned to the consignor. The Exiss/Sooner Stallion Row will be held January 30 - January 31 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. This is your opportunity to showcase your stallion and breeding program to thousands of horse enthusiasts. Enclosed you will find the Exiss/Sooner Stallion Row application form with complete rules and regulations. Applications, professional quality photo, and the required fee of $450 are due in the BHSS Office by November 14, Due to limited space, the Horse Committee will give preference to stallions with offspring on the ground. Horses will be stalled in 10 x 10 stalls. Please consider your stallion s disposition prior to application. Stallions must tolerate large crowds over a 3 day period of time with limited exercise. Read the rules and regulations carefully. The pedigree portion of the application must be completed or send a copy of the registration papers. Please print legibly! For those stallion owners that are unable to bring their stallion, there will be limited booth space for stallion promotion during the same time allotment. Deadline for the booth space is also November 14. The price for a booth is $350 plus proof of insurance. Entry application closes Thursday, November 14, The application fee is $450 and must accompany the application along with a PROFESSIONAL QUALITY PICTURE. Fee will be refunded if stallion is not accepted. 3. Please consider your stallion s disposition prior to application. Stallions must tolerate large crowds for a 2 day period. Exercise time and space is very limited. Priority will be given to stallions with offspring on the ground. 4. Stalls will be assigned according to a lottery drawing. 5. Notification of acceptance or return of application will be made immediately following the selection process. Decision of the Selection Committee will be final. 6. Check-In: Wednesday, January 28th from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Thursday, January 29th from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. Check out Saturday, January 31st, after 5:30 pm. STALLIONS MUST BE CHECKED INTO RUSHMORE HALL, AT THE RUSHMORE PLAZA CIVIC CENTER BY 8:00 PM THURSDAY, JANUARY 29, STALLIONS MUST CHECK OUT OF RUSHMORE HALL SATURDAY. There will be a brief exhibitor meeting at 6:00 pm in the stall area on Thursday, January 29th. Stallion Row is open from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm on Friday and 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday. 7. In accordance with state transportation requirements, a Health Certificate issued within thirty (30) days of the event will be required. A Coggins Test is necessary on all horses from out of state. 8. A brand inspection is required for all exhibitors leaving the brand area. A brand inspector will be available for that purpose. 9. Initial bedding (shavings) will be provided. Straw is not allowed in the building. Stalls are 10 x 10. Electrical capability is very limited and not always available. Storage of hay in the Barn is NOT permitted. 10. Horses will be previewed in the sale ring prior to the horse sales on Friday, January 30th and Saturday, January 31st at 1:20 pm in the Crystalyx BioBarrel Sale Ring. The preview will also be viewed on the internet at horseauctions.com. 11. The Management, the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center or their employees or volunteers will not be responsible for any injury or loss of any animal or accidents thereby or any injury or loss of life to any participants or spectators during the Stock Show. 12. Stallion Row will be included in printed advertising and also in the Horse Sale Catalog. 13. Limited booth space will be available for Stallion Owners who are unable to bring their stallions. These PROMOTION ONLY booths are approximately 8 x 10. Fee will be $350 for the space and must show proof of insurance as well. Booths will be open the same time Stallion Row is. Please contact the BHSS Office at if you are interested in a Stallion Row Booth. 14. Stallions must be kept in stalls during trade show hours.
