5 PEEWEE DIVISIONS Patterns must be followed or the rider will be disqualified. Committee has final decision. We will be using the wireless timer this season. Any handler with the rider who crosses the timing light before the horse will cause the rider to have a 20 second penalty. Rider must be sure the timer is ready before starting their run. PEEWEE LEAD LINE: This class is for riders who are being led through the events by handler. Horse/pony must be kept at a walk or trot only. At no time can the horse/pony canter or go off pattern or rider will be disqualified. If you knock over or drop any object, rider will get 20 seconds added to their time. Handing equipment to the rider or carrying equipment for the rider will result in disqualification. Riders in lead line with extra handler stirrups optional. Lead line riders cannot be off lead at anytime on club grounds or any equine event or they will be required to move up to PeeWee Non Lead Line. Children with special needs regardless of their age that cannot ride on their own may be eligible for lead line, as long as they have never shown off a lead line. Please speak to the peewee committee if you have a child over thirteen with special needs. All lead line horses/ponies must be led with a halter and lead rope; also all horses/ponies must have a bridle with reins. Handlers must be at the head of the horse/pony/not in front for better control at all times. If handler crosses the finish line in front of the horse s head, a 20 second penalty will be added to the rider s total time. Children 6 yrs and older, who have shown at least two years or more in the Lead Line Division, must have at least one hand on the reins and be making an attempt to direct the horse or a 20 second penalty will be added to their time.
6 PEEWEE NON LEAD LINE: In the peewee non lead line division, a handler may stand inside the gate or escort an arm s length away from the horse s head through the pattern. If the handler makes contact with the horse, the rider is disqualified. The handler, or a second handler, may also stand in the center of the ring a minimum of 15 feet beyond the last obstacle. Riders must have full control of their horse/pony without assistance of an adult. This class is walk trot only, if the horse/pony breaks into a canter, the rider must pull their horse/pony up within 3 strides or the rider will receive a 60 second penalty for the first offense of the day. Any offense that occurs again that show will result in disqualification for that game. Non lead line riders cannot canter on the grounds of any equine event or they will be asked to move up. No assistance by the handlers is allowed unless it is an emergency. If handler assistance is used, the rider will be disqualified. If you go off pattern, rider will be disqualified. If you knock over or drop any object, rider will get 20 seconds added to their time. Pre-enter a week before the show, if not pre-entered, a post entry charge of $5.00 for the day will apply. Members must show current membership card and will pay $4.00 per class, non-members will pay $6.00 per class. There will be a $2.00 fee per rider for club maintenance.
