Ay youth may exhibit aimals or participate i Juior Activities provided that they are i at least secod grade ad have ot reached their 22d birthday o opeig day of the Miesota Beef Expo. 2. Ay breed with fewer tha five (5) etries may ot be offered. Etries will be placed i aother appropriate class. 3. All etries must be registered or recorded with their respective breed orgaizatio. Aimals exhibited must be owed by the exhibitor, joitly by agreemet, or by the farm or rach of the immediate family. 4. Requiremets to show i the breedig heifer classes: Agus - must be registered as 100% Agus British White Park- must be registered as America British White Park or British White Charolais - must be registered as 31/32 blood or more Charolais Composite - must be registered at least 50% Charolais Foudatio Simmetal - must be registered as 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 Simmetal Hereford - must be registered as 100% Hereford Limousi - must be registered as 1/4 or greater accordig to N.A.L.F. percetages Maie Ajou - must be registered as 1/4 or more Red Agus - must be 1-A registered (100%) Shorthor - must be registered as 15/16 blood Shorthor Plus - must be registered as 1/2 blood or greater Simmetal - must be registered as 7/8 or more South Devo - must be registered as 1/2 or greater All Other Breeds - Aimals that have a registratio paper but are ot oe of the above breeds. Exhibitors must follow the Iteratioal Associatio of Fairs ad Expositios (IAFE) Natioal Code of Show Rig Ethics. By eterig, the exhibitor agrees to abide by the IAFE code of ethics. Submissio of etry idicates acceptace of all rules, regulatios, ad releases associated with the evet. Photos take durig the Expo by staff or official photographers may be used for promotioal reasos. 7. All aimals must be exhibited by the juior i whose ame the aimal has bee etered. If a issue comes up where the juior caot exhibit the aimal, it must be exhibited by aother juior registered to show at the 2018 MBE. 8. All etries must be filed olie by 11:59 p.m. o Suday, October 14 uless purchased at the MBE sale. Etries for sale aimals must be made at time of settlemet. Each exhibitor will be limited to two (2) etries per class. 9. Etry fee of $40 per head must accompay etry, uless aimal is cosiged for MBE sale. Etry fee for aimals purchased at the sale by a juior is waived. Beddig is icluded i all etry fees. There is a additioal $20 fee for etries made after oo o October 13. Tie-outs will be made available at $20 per head. 10. Space is ot guarateed for groomig chutes ad tack space will be limited. Juiors are ecouraged to share groomig chutes ad tack areas. 11. 8 CATTLE HEALTH ID & REQUIREMENTS ALL SPECIES All aimals will be ispected by the official veteriaria the opeig day of the exhibitio ad daily durig the exhibitio. The official veteriaria will order the immediate removal to a quaratie facility or removal from the exhibitio premises of ay aimal showig cliical sigs of ay ifectious, cotagious or commuicable disease, icludig rigworm ad warts. Ay aimal showig evidece of ay disease, abscesses, or ay ope cotagious lesios will ot be allowed to exhibit or show ad will be subject to isolatio or expulsio depedig o the ature ad seriousess of the disease, abscess or lesio i questio. If illess of ay ature is suspected i ay aimal, said aimal is subject to examiatio by the State Veteriaria ad ower or exhibitor of said aimal must abide by the decisio of this veteriaria. Aimals with warts or rigworm may ot be show. A statemet from a veteriaria that a aimal is beig treated for these diseases is ot acceptable. Aimals kow by the exhibitor to have a ifectious, commuicable disease or to have bee exposed to a ifectious, commuicable disease, or to be from a quaratied herd may ot be etered i a exhibitio. IDENTIFICATION Idividuals must be officially idetified (see m.gov/bah/official-id.html for list of official ID). The USDA istituted its Aimal Disease Traceability (ADT) rule which improves its ability to trace livestock i the evet of a disease outbreak. Accordig to the ADT rule, livestock movig iterstate must be officially idetified ad accompaied by a iterstate certificate of veteriary ispectio (ICVI). CATTLE Idividuals must be officially idetified (see m.gov/bah/official-id.html for list of official idetificatio). 1. Cattle from Miesota A. No Certificate of Veteriary Ispectio (CVI) required. B. 9 IAFE NATIONAL CODE OF ETHICS (Iteratioal Associatio of Fairs ad Expos) Exhibitors of aimals at livestock shows shall at all times deport themselves with hoesty ad good sportsmaship. Their coduct i this competitive eviromet shall always reflect the highest stadards of hoor ad digity to promote the advacemet of agricultural educatio. This code applies to juior as well as ope class exhibitors who compete i structured classes of competitio. This code applies to all livestock offered i ay evet at a livestock show. All youth leaders workig with juior exhibitors are uder a affirmative resposibility to do more tha avoid improper coduct or questioable acts. Their moral values must be so certai ad positive that those youger ad more pliable will be iflueced by their fie example. Owers, exhibitors, fitters, traiers ad absolutely resposible persos who violate the code of ethics will forfeit premiums, awards ad auctio proceeds ad shall be prohibited from future exhibitio i accordace with the rules adopted by the respective fairs ad livestock shows. Exhibitors who violate this code of ethics demea the itegrity of all livestock exhibitors ad should be prohibited from competitio at all livestock shows i the Uited States ad Caada. The followig is a list of guidelies for all exhibitors ad all livestock i competitive evets: 1. All exhibitors must preset, upo request of fair ad livestock show officials, proof of owership, legth of owership ad age of all aimals etered. Misrepresetatio of owership, age or ay facts relatig thereto is prohibited. 2. Owers, exhibitors, fitters, traiers or absolutely resposible persos shall provide aimal health certificates from licesed veteriarias upo request by fair or livestock show officials. 3. Juior exhibitors are expected to care for ad groom their aimals while at fairs or livestock shows. 4. Aimals shall be preseted to show evets where they will eter the food chai free of violative drug residues. The act of eterig a aimal i a livestock show is the givig of coset by the ower, exhibitor, fitter, traier ad/or absolutely resposible perso for show maagemet to obtai ay specimes of urie, saliva, blood or other substaces from the aimal to be used i testig. If the laboratory report o the chemical aalysis of saliva, urie, blood or other sample take from livestock idicates the presece of forbidde drugs or medicatio, this shall be prima facie evidece such substace has bee admiistered to the aimal either iterally or exterally. It is presumed that the sample of saliva, urie, blood or other substace tested by the laboratory to which it is set is the oe take from the aimal i questio ad correctly reflects the coditio of the aimal at the time the sample was take, with the burde o the ower, exhibitor, fitter, traier or absolutely resposible perso to prove otherwise. At ay time after a aimal arrives o the fair or livestock show premises, all treatmets ivolvig the use of drugs ad/or medicatios, for the sole purpose of protectig the health of the aimal, shall be admiistered by a licesed veteriaria. *The Miesota State Fair allows exceptios i breedig classes for soud maagemet practices such as mastitis or peumoia cotrol. 5. Ay surgical procedure or ijectio of ay foreig substace or drug or the exteral applicatio of ay substace (irritat, couterirritat or similar substace) which could affect the aimal s performace or alter its atural cotour, coformatio or appearace, except exteral applicatios of substaces to the hoofs or hors of aimals which affect appearace oly ad except for surgical procedures performed by a duly licesed veteriaria for the sole purpose of protectig the health of the aimal, is prohibited. 6. The use of showig ad/or hadlig practices or devices such as strikig aimals to cause swellig, usig electrical cotrivace or other similar practices are ot acceptable ad are prohibited. 7. Direct criticism or iterferece with the judge, fair or livestock show maagemet, other exhibitors, breed represetatives or show officials before, durig or after the competitive evet is prohibited. Media Iterview The cotestat will participate i a mock media iterview. The iterviewer will have pre-determied questios to ask each cotestat with the optio to ask follow-up questios i order to receive additioal kowledge or clarify a poit. A pael of judges will observe the iteractio for: kowledge, articulatio, poise ad the cotestat s ability to Tell the Beef Productio Story ad preset beef ad farmig i a positive light. 2. Cosumer Evet A mock cosumer evet will be set up for the cotestats. Each cotestat will be provided with a beef sample, beef literature ad recipes. Iterested cosumers will approach the table. They will ask pre-determied questios to test the cotestat s kowledge, capacity to iteract with the public ad ability to preset beef i a positive light. A pael of judges will observe ad score each cotestat o their ability to educate the cosumers ad provide the cosumers with the appropriate iformatio to aswer their questios. Each cotestat will have 5 miutes to iteract with the Cosumers who will ask questios. Cotestat are able to ask the cosumers questios to egage a deeper dialogue about beef, ad are ecouraged to do so. 3. Social & Traditioal Media Respose to Beef Idustry Topics Cotestats will be provided with a list of beef idustry topics (For example: Beef Nutritio) oce their applicatio is submitted. Cotestats will pick a topic ad write a blog about that subject, icludig 2-3 pictures. Cotestats should also create a sample Facebook post or Tweet about this same subject to be submitted i additio to the blog. Both the blog ad the Facebook post or Tweet must be brought to the competitio. The judges will score the cotestats o their ability to icorporate beef idustry iformatio ad how relatable that message would be with cosumers.
