ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 20, 2017 Password required - agent must obtain by September 18, 2017 Note: Exhibitors will be required to turn in a copy of their online registration confirmation to check-in for competitions This is an informational flyer listing opportunities for 4-H ers to compete. THIS FLYER DOES NOT CONTAIN ALL RULES. Place a check by the contest you re interested in, the division which applies to you and the class you will be entering. Return this sheet to your county 4-H staff person. Take a look at our new website ( for MORE DETAILED INFORMATION. Prize money and ribbons will be awarded for 1st-10th place in all contests. Please Note: For live contests only, the participating 4-H er and 2 family members over the age of 10 will be allowed free entry into the Fair. Also, please be aware that if a 4-H er signs up for two conflicting contests, the 4-H er may be asked to choose between the two at contest time. ~~~Static Exhibits ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4-H COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN CONTEST Do you enjoy computers and all the neat things you re able to do with this technology? Have you explored graphic arts and design? Have you become familiar with a software program that allows you to design promotional materials such as cards, T-shirts and billboards? If so, put your talent to work and design a graphic to be used to promote 4-H. Delivery Dates: Sept. 28 Sept. 30, Open to Cloverleaf, Junior and Senior 4-H ers. May enter only one class. No perishable products may be used. Products may be purchased or grown by exhibitor. Exhibits must be no larger than 24" in any direction. Open to any 4-H member. 2 4-H MINIBOOTH EXHIBITS The display area will be a triangle 30"x30"x36", with a two-sided backdrop of 30"x24" panels hinged together. Contact your Extension Office for rules and classes in the minibooth competition. Delivery Dates: Sept. 28 Sept. 30, st-10th Placing: $50 - $40 - $30 - $20 - $20 - $20 - $20 - $20 - $20 - $20 Division Cloverleaf Division Junior Division Senior MINIBOOISION Classes: (1) Agricultural, (2) Environmental Science, (3) Family and Consumer Science and (4) Other Special Interest 2 Environmental Science Minibooth exhibits must be constructed to fit into a wooden triangle 30 sides x 24 high x 36 width across front of booth. These booths will be placed on table tops 30 from the floor. Points will be deducted for exhibits extending beyond these boundaries, including arched aboved. 4-H RECYCLING Help promote an environmentally safe world. Bring your recycled ideas to the Fair. The work must be that of the 4-H er. Recycled functional items must be accompanied by an index card explaining: name of item, how it is used and a listing of the recycled parts. Items in this category must be durable, usable and not larger than 24" in any direction. Open to any 4-H member. Select your plants for interest, variety and suitability. Then carefully place them in your container to create a pretty garden. No electrical or battery operated accessories allowed. May enter only one class. Each county limited to ten entries in each class. Maximum size: 14 high X 14 wide X 6 deep. Open to Cloverleafs and Juniors. The Fair will furnish hay and a T-form approximately 5 high with 36 arm width. T-form must be used as skeleton of scarecrow s body. 4-H ers will furnish all other items needed to create their scarecrow. Only one scarecrow per entry. 3 4-H INSTANT CAMERA PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST NEW CONTEST Contestant takes a photo at the 2017 fair on site with an instant camera (photographs in one self-contained unit using self-developing film). Only one entry per person per class allowed. Photos must have a title. Print legibly on the back or with a printed sticker: name, address, county, phone number with area code, division number, class, and title of photo. Photo judged on: impact of photo (20 pts), creativity and style (20pts). Technical excellence (20pts), composition (20 pts), and story telling (20pts). 4 Classes: (01) Family Scarecrow Contest 4-H CHALLENGE BOWL If you are great with the retention of facts and want to be challenged to remember lots of information in 4 different categories: 4-H, Ag, FACS, and Miscellaneous, then Challenge Bowl is for YOU! See 4-H agent for 2015 challenge bowl topics and team information. Open to Cloverleaf, Junior and Senior 4-H ers. Sun., Oct. 15, 9:30 am (Miller-Murphy-Howard Bldg. Flower Show Tent on West Side) 1st-4th Placing: 1 st - $1000, 2 nd - $500, 3 rd - $250, and 4 th - $100 Division H Challenge Bowl Class: (01) Team 4-H FAMILY SEED ART CONTEST NEW CONTEST A fun family oriented contest for a 4-H er and 2 family members to create a piece of seed art, no larger than 12 inches by 12 inches, 2D or 3D, and within the 1 hour time limit. Seed art will remain on display until the end of the fair. Participants must provide any other self-contained cooking units; e.g., electric wok, electric skillet and all ingredients and other equipment necessary to create a delectable dish for the lucky judges. MUST BRING A HEAVY DUTY EXTENSION CORD. Any wild game with a legal hunting season in Georgia and/or game fish listed in the GA. DNR Sport Fishing Regulations will be considered wild game. Open to Junior and Senior 4-H ers - individuals or teams of two. Juniors - Sun., Oct. 8, 12:30 pm (Heritage Hall) Seniors Sun. Oct. 8, 3:00 pm (Heritage Hall) Division Junior Division Senior Class: (01) for all divisions 4-H HEALTHY COMMODITY CONTEST Blueberries A no-bake peach snack, appetizer or side dish recipe contest for Cloverleaf 4-H ers to be made within 45 minutes and a cooked (stoves and ovens provided) contest of an appetizer, main dish or side dish (no desserts) to be made within 1 hour for Junior and Senior 4-H ers. At least one cup of peaches must be used in the recipe. Gather up the ingredients of your favorite ice cream (no raw eggs, no raw milk, no sherbet), grab a churn (either electric or manually operated, don't forget the ice) and come to the Fair for some great fun (and maybe win money on the side).bring AN EXTENSION CORD. 4-H ers may not receive adult help during contest.
