2 Dear Fellow Clowns We re looking forward to a great convention and competition for CSSCA 2018 and hope to see everyone there. The competitions will be held at the Hilton Convention Center in the Cooper rooms. Enclosed you will find materials needed for registration. Please make copies as needed for the clowns in your unit. You may also read and download the registration packet, forms and get late breaking news and information from the CSSA2018 website at under the Events / Events by Unit tab. During the business meeting the ladies are invited to a rendezvous at Black Oak Grill. It is within walking distance of the conference center. The patio and event room has been reserved. There will be a cash bar and food menu (happy hour priced drinks). This year rather than have a sit-down banquet, we will have the awards ceremony in the Cooper Room and then have an Afterglow at the Paddlewheel Bar and Grill, (less than half a mile away) with finger foods and a cash bar. The fees for the convention and, competition and afterglow are as follows: Early registration (letters post-marked July 31st or earlier) $75.00 per Clown and Lady for Competition and Afterglow Late registration (letters post-marked August 1st or later, or for Walk-up registrations) $95.00 per Clown and Lady for Competition and Afterglow Guest for the Afterglow $10.00 per non-competing Clown or guest (must have ticket to enter) Note for non-competing Clowns and guests: The Afterglow will be limited. Registered competing Clowns and their Ladies will have first priority. Non-competing Clowns, their Ladies, and other guests will be confirmed approximately 2 weeks before the competition. If you are requesting tickets for guests and non-competing clowns, please include your payment separately from the competing clowns, and it will be held until their reservation is confirmed. 3 Member Units of the Central States Shrine Clown Association Dues Notice for 2018 Dear Fellow Clowns, This is your dues notice for CSSCA 2018, which are as follows: Annual Unit Dues: $10.00 per unit Annual for Each Active Member of the Unit: $3.00 per clown Per our by-laws as approved Sep. 3, 2000 (ARTICLE VI DUES), dues must be paid for all active members of the unit (not those just attending the convention) before members are admitted into any CSSCA function or competition. Included with this notice is a worksheet for you to list all of your unit s active members and to total your unit s dues. Clown registration does not include CSSA2018 registration fees. 6 Mike Cotter, Sec Rookie Clown Certification Central States Shrine Clown Association - Competition Rules Approved September 3, 2000 II: INDIVIDUAL MAKEUP COMPETITION RULES A. At every CSSCA competition, there shall be three (3) divisions of clowns designated as follows: 3. Rookie Clown: Any clown in good standing with CSSCA that has been a clown (Shrine or non- Shrine) for less than one (1) year, and that has never competed in any clown competition may compete in this division. Note: The CSSCA President may grant a waiver to allow a clown to enter this category, if their Unit/Temple was the sponsor of the CSSCA convention the preceding year, which rendered him ineligible to compete during their rookie year. At the time of registration, the individual must provide a letter signed by the unit President or Director, verifying that they qualify to compete in this division. The awards ceremony and afterglow will be limited to 250 individuals. Registered competing Clowns and their Ladies will have first priority. Non-competing Clowns, their Ladies, and other guests will be confirmed approximately 2 weeks before the competition, provided you provide a valid READABLE address. Requests for tickets for guests and non-competing clowns will be honored in the order they are received. If we go beyond the 250 attendees, you ll be notified and payment returned. We apologize in advance for this, but because of high costs and limited space we are forced to limit the number attending this event. Please include your payment separately from the competing clowns, and checks will be held until their reservation is confirmed. If there are unsold tickets, they will be sold at the door for $10 each until the maximum of 250 is reached.
