ALL CONTESTANTS MUST read and sign the Hard Hat/Horseback Riding Release Waiver Hard Hat/Horseback Riding Release Waiver It is statistically clear that there are certain inherent dangers associated with horseback riding. One of those dangers is the risk of suffering serious head injuries should the rider fall or be thrown from his/her horse. It is therefore the policy of WI NBHA INC., WI 00,01,02,03,04 members and directors, that safety helmets should be worn at all times when riders are mounted. In taking this action, I hold WI NBHA INC., WI 00,01,02,03,04 members and directors their insurer, free of any liabilities for injuries that I may have received as a result of my actions and failure to wear a safety riding helmet. NOTICE: A person who is engaged for compensation in the rental of equine equipment or tack or in the instruction of a person riding or driving of an equine is not liable for the injury or death of a person involved in equine activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine activities, as defined in section (1)(e) of the Wisconsin State Statutes. Each contestant in the OPEN race will be given the opportunity to ride in two Go-rounds. The number of entries determines the number of qualifiers to ride in the Finals. [Short-Go] In the second Go-round we will bump past those already qualified. If you place two horses in one division you may take both horses back to the Short-Go. Contestants do not need to run in both Go rounds to qualify for the Short Go. Unfilled slots will NOT be pulled from the 1 st Go, as riding once is your choice. Please notify the Show Office if you are going to scratch from a run as soon as possible. Short-Go [Finals] is a clean slate format. During the short Go-round, qualifiers may move up or down divisions based on that run. Your placement going into the Short Go has no bearing on your winning position. Short-Go [Finals] draw will be slowest to fastest qualifying time. 5D riders run first, down to 1D. Knocked barrels will result in a NO TIME. Seniors will run a 1 Go-round, 4D format. Youth will run a 1 Go-round, 4D format, with the number of riders advancing to Youth Finals based on number of entries. A horse may run only once unless it is the only horse in the family. [See NBHA Rule Book] Contestants may not change horses during the Finals. Failing to check in with the gate officials makes you subject to disqualification. You must be in the holding pen or the IMMEDIATE area at the start of your drag and remain in the pen until you enter the arena for your run. You must enter the arena within THREE minutes of your name being called or you will be disqualified. You be given THREE calls. There is NO CIRCLING allowed once inside the arena. Failure to follow rule will result in a no-time for that ride. If necessary, contestants will be allowed a companion horse in the holding pen. If necessary, a contestant may have one handler [with enclosed toe shoes] present in the holding pen. There will not be re-runs given if a horse or rider falls. There will be a holding pen. Rider must exit the holding pen for their run. From the holding pen, rider may go directly into the alley to start run or turn opposite direction to use all the alley to enter arena.
