Cost for youth is $60 (includes two hams) and $40 for adults (includes one ham). Curing takes place in January and the project wraps up at the Kentucky State Fair in August with interested participants able to sell their hams at the Woodford County 4-H/FFA Youth Livestock Sale in September. Come participate in one of Kentucky 4-H s fastest growing projects and learn more about the great tradition of curing meats!

2 Woodford County 4-H News and Notes 4-H Achievement Program The H Achievement Applications are available for those interested in applying to be recognized for all of your hard work. For those interested, a workshop will be offered on Thursday, November 9th at 5:30pm. We will go over the 4-H Achievement Program, begin work on the application and discuss the different levels of recognition. Come put Woodford County 4-H on the map by submitting an application and get recognized for all that you do! Versailles Christmas Parade Float Join Woodford County 4-H in the annual Versailles Christmas Parade by walking/riding on the Woodford County 4-H Float! Anyone interested in riding/walking should call (859) or ryan.farley@uky.edu by November 29th to sign up. All participants will be expected to either donate supplies or help decorate on Friday, December 1st at 4pm.

3 Woodford County 4-H Clubs 4-H Livestock Club Tuesday, November 14th 6:30pm Join us as we elect our officers, go over the ham contract, discuss upcoming meetings and participate in an educational lesson. Educational Meeting Monday, November 20th We will be heading to the Bluegrass Stockyards for a tour. Tour begins at 5:00pm Meet at WC Extension at 4:30pm for a ride If you are interested in attending, we will be offering a ride to a limited amount. Please RSVP to let us know if you will be attending and if you need a ride by Thursday, November 16th by calling (859) H Horse and Pony Club Monday, November 20th Join us for our 2nd club meeting of the year. You do not have to own a horse/ ride in order to participate! We will be going over tack with a hands-on activity. 4-H STEM Sewing Club Monday, November 13th 6:30pm If you are interested in sewing and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) this club looks to merge the two! Join us for our first meeting! Please call or to RSVP. There is a one-time cost of $10. 4-H Environmental Club Wednesday, November 8th Meet at We will be heading to Bluegrass Aquaponics in Midway to take a tour of the facility there! 5 4-H Upcoming Events and Notes 4-H Winter Weather Policy As winter weather approaches, just a friendly reminder that in the event that Woodford County Schools are closed due to inclement weather, all 4-H meetings are cancelled. JUNE 16TH - JUNE 20TH We hope you will consider contributing to the United Way of the Bluegrass during their fall campaign drive. United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. Woodford County 4-H is directly supported by the United Way through an annual Local Grant program. You may also choose to have part or all of your annual contribution go directly to Woodford County 4-H by selecting Woodford County 4-H Council as the specific agency you would like to support. Selecting the Education Initiative will also support the local grant program.
