3 Welcome Cattlemen! We hope you all had a great 2017, and are looking forward to a wonderful and successful 2018!! We saw the fall of 2017 as a breath of fresh air with a higher cattle market... and we hope to see that trend continue. We are trying to raise moderate framed, easy fleshing cattle that can go out in any conditions, put weight on, and breed back. The easier your animal can take care of themselves, the higher your bottom line is when it comes time to sell. Profit is what we all look at in the end, and that is what we are trying to produce for our customers. It is an exciting time in the Hereford breed. No matter if you are raising purebred Hereford cattle, or going for the 1st X baldy, there are so many outstanding genetics and opportunities available in the breed. The benefits with crossbreeding Angus to Hereford adds Performance, Vigor, Longevity, and PROFIT!! I am also offering a load of commercial Hereford replacement heifers. I will take yearling bulls home and feed for free until April 1st, 2 year old bulls can be taken back but will be fed at $1.50 a day. Thank you for your interest in our program and sale. Our goal is to have a smaller framed cow raise a heavier calf with no help in the form of creep, or cake, just some mineral in real world pasture conditions. So this means we have to stay on top of our pasture production and the genetics in our herd. Also we expect our cows to breed back and breed early or they will not remain on the ranch. This is why we have had at least ninety percent of our cows calved out in the first 30 days of the season over the last couple years. It is our hope that if you use one of our bulls and you keep back the heifers off of them that you have the results that we have had lately, 1200 lbs cows weaning 700 plus pound calves. As you look through these bulls you will also notice some of the more popular pedigrees in the hereford breed such as York, Domino, Built Tuff, Target, Revolution, About Time, and Wrangler. 4 Welcome Cattlemen & Cattlewomen! This is our first year selling breeding stock at an auction, but we have been selling by private treaty for a few years. We also have a relatively large commercial cattle herd with Alecia s parents and sister, Melissa (who has joined us in the Registered Hereford business). Initially, we got into the Registered Hereford business to raise bulls for ourselves. But, our dream was to eventually sell breeding stock. Over time, we decided to sell some bulls each year, allowing us to continue introducing new genetics into our registered herd. These bulls have been raised to last and sire some great feeder cattle and replacement heifers! We don t push our bulls, so they should develop good hooves and legs to last. We cull hard for disposition within our herd. They are raised just like our commercial herd, on mama s milk and grass until weaning- NO creep feed, then they are given long stemmed hay and some silage. We decided to develop our bulls over time and sell them as coming twoyear-old bulls. They have been out on grass all summer, which was short because of the drought we ve had in SW ND. This winter they are on long stemmed hay and some grain. Since birth, they have been on a complete vaccination and mineral program. All of the two-year-old bulls, we are offering, have had DNA testing done except the horned bull, Lot 35 (660). The full DNA package was selected which includes individual profile, parentage verification, abnormality testing, Genomic Enhanced EPDs, and horned/polled testing. All the bulls offered have tested genetic abnormality free (Lot 35 wasn t tested). The bulls that tested as homozygous polled do not carry horned genes and will sire polled calves, even on horned cows. The bulls will be semen tested before the sale. Our goal is to raise bulls that will last a long time and will produce excellent feeder cattle and easy keeping females for the commercial cowman.
