1 4-H MASTER HORSEMAN AWARD GUIDELINES 1. Eligibility: for any 4H youth member involved in the Marathon County 4H Horse, Horseless Horse, Pet Horse, or Pony projects. 2. Participants must follow all rules and regulations of 4H (example: code of conduct). Breaking of any rules and/or regulations will result in disqualification. 3. Divisions: Junior (Grades 3-8) Senior (Grades 9-13) 4. All criteria must be fulfilled to be considered. 5. The awards will be earned on a point system and interview. The more you participate, the more points you can earn. 6. Point Eligibility: July 1-June 30. Points earned after June 30 can be used for the following year. 7. Participants will be required to complete the interview portion at the fair to be eligible for the final reward. A sign-up sheet for Sunday s interview time slots will be posted on the 4-H Horse Education Announcements Board by the barn at the fair. 8. Conduct, attitude, and sportsmanship toward fellow members, parents, leaders, animals, and the general public will be taken into consideration. The 4H Master Horseman Committee will make decisions regarding these. 9. DEADLINE: all 4H Master Horseman Application forms, Expense Sheet, Treatment Record, and Point Sheets must be postmarked by July 1 to be eligible (NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE CONSIDERED). 10. Conferences, seminars) 1 pt per activity (3 pt max) Participation at other 4-H horse related clinics (ex state dressage, gymkhana, judging, photo clinics) 1 pt per clinic Actively participating in 4-H team event meetings (ex Hippology, judging, Drill team, Team Problems, Horse bowl) 1 pt per meeting Submit a completed Horse Project journal (for current 4-H year) 5 pt
