1 2018 St. James Grape and Fall Festival Junior Livestock Show and Sale REGULATIONS AND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW WHO CAN ENTER Breeding Stock: Any 4-H (ages 8-18) or FFA member in good standing from Phelps or adjoining counties. Bucket Calf: Any 4-H member (ages 8-12) from Phelps or adjoining counties will be allowed in the bucket calf participation class only. PeeWee Animals: Exhibitors must be 5-7 years old as of January 1, 2018 and reside in Phelps or adjoining counties. These will be participation classes only. Market Animals: Only Phelps County 4-H or FFA members in good standing and that have weighed in at St. James spring weigh-ins may sell market animals at the livestock sale. JUDGING, PRIZES AND PREMIUMS Cattle: Blue Ribbon-$20 Red Ribbon-$15 White Ribbon-$10 Goats, Sheep and Swine: Blue Ribbon-$12 Red Ribbon-$10 White Ribbon-$8 Poultry and Rabbits: Blue Ribbon-$4 Red Ribbon-$3 White Ribbon-$2 ENTRY FORMS **Entry forms must be postmarked on or before August 3, 2018 to be accepted. **Late entry forms will not be accepted. **Entry forms and fees are required for registration. **Send all entry forms to: St. James Agriculture Department Robert Ridley or Heather Bouse 101 E. Scioto Street St. James, Mo For any questions, please call (573) or or MARKET ANIMAL GENERAL REGULATIONS 1. All market hogs, market lambs, market goats, and market steers must be weighed in and entered by April 7/May A maximum of 2 animals may be sold within Phelps County by the same exhibitor. 3. An exhibitor will be allowed to show in each category but can only sell ONE item in the sale. However, the Overall Grand Champion and Reserve of each species MUST sell. 4. The same market animal will be weighed in, weighed out, shown, sold and delivered to the buyer and/or packer. 5. All market animals must meet their minimum weight requirements at the final weigh in to be eligible to be shown and sold at the Junior Livestock Sale on Saturday. 6. Only market animals will be taken to a packing house from the Grape and Fall Festival Livestock Barn. Exhibitors must be present and assist in loading their market animal. 7. Market steers, market lambs, market goats, meat pens, and market hogs may be sold at this year s auction. A sale order sheet will be made available the day of the sale.

2 8. To be eligible to sell, exhibitors must be a member of a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter in Phelps County. Approval of the 4-H Leader or FFA Advisor will be necessary before members will be allowed to sell. Only members in good standing are to participate in the sale. 9. Exhibitors will be allowed to sell only one animal at the Livestock Sale. 10. Photos of the buyer and exhibitor will be taken immediately after the sale of the animal at the auction. **The livestock superintendents and FFA advisors will make the final decision on any rule conflicts and reserves the right to withhold premiums, if necessary. 11. Each exhibitor must abide by the Mo Department of Agriculture Veterinary Division Animal Health Standards for Exhibition. 13. Proof of ownership must be provided with the 4-H leader or FFA Advisor s signature on the entry form. Swine, sheep, goats, poultry and rabbits must be owned 30 days, and cattle 60 days prior to the show. 14. Market exhibitors are expected to attend a barn clean-up either prior to or upon completion of Fall Festival. Exhibitors will schedule their time with their respective 4-H leaders. 15. Each exhibitor will keep their stall(s) clean and provide their own bedding. 16. Animals may begin arriving at 12 p.m. on Thursday of the Festival. All livestock must be on the grounds by Thursday at 7:30 pm. No animals may leave the Festival grounds before 8 p.m. Saturday night, unless released by the Livestock Superintendents and FFA Advisors.. No market exhibitor is to leave the livestock barn until their livestock is loaded and the stalls are clean. 17. All fees must be paid before the animal can be exhibited. Fees for the 2018 Fall Festival Junior Livestock Show and Sale are as follows: **Fees for market animals below includes the cost of stalls, buyer photos and ultrasound fees if applicable. Fees per animal: Bucket Calf: No Charge PeeWee Entry: No Charge Market Steer: $30 ** Market Hog: $22 ** Market Meat Pen: $20 ** Market Lamb & Goat: $15 ** Beef & Dairy Cattle: $5 per head Swine: $3 per head Sheep & Goats: $2.50 per head Poultry & Rabbit: $1 per head **Please make checks payable to ST. JAMES R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT 18. All exhibitors must show his or her own animal in the show and showmanship divisions, with the exception of the open peewee classes. 19. Space in the barn is limited and will be allocated to animals first, show boxes and cots are secondary. Superintendents will assign stalls. 20. All beef and dairy cattle must be double tied. 21. Exhibitors will not be allowed to have alcoholic beverages at any time. Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate dismissal of the exhibitor and their livestock from the Festival grounds. All entry fees and prize money will be forfeited. 22. Showmanship will be judged solely upon the grooming and showmanship, not on animal conformation. Showmanship will be judged as an individual class.

3 23. Exhibitors may use any animal during showmanship that they own and have shown during that day; male or female. 24. Showmanship awards will be given in the following age groups. All ages are as of January 1 of the current year. PeeWee Open (5-7 years), Junior 4-H (8-12 years), Intermediate 4-H/FFA (13-16 years) and Senior. 25. Awards will be presented on Saturday at 3 pm immediately before the Livestock Sale. JUNIOR LIVESTOCK SHOW Schedule of Events Thursday, September 6, 2018 Livestock arrive 12-7:30 p.m. Poultry and rabbits need to be in place prior to show time at 6 pm. Weigh-in Schedule Market Steers: 4 pm.** at Snelson Farms Market Lambs and Goats : 7 p.m. at the St. James Festival Grounds Market Hogs: 7:30 pm** at the St. James Festival Grounds **Ultrasounds will be done at this time. Poultry and Rabbit Show 6 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 Livestock Show begins at 9 a.m. and each class will follow consecutively: 1. Swine 2. Meat Goats 3. Dairy Goats 4. Sheep 5. Dairy Cattle (Begin with 4-H Bucket Calf Class, if there are entries) 6. Beef Cattle (Market Steers, Replacement Heifers and Open PeeWee Bucket Calves will show after breeding stock) Saturday, September 8, 2018 Presentation of Awards 3 p.m. Livestock Sale 3:30 p.m. Buyer s Dinner Immediately following the completion of the Livestock Sale. Release Time 8 p.m. **All checks will be issued the Wednesday following the sale. Checks may be picked up at the St. James Agriculture Education Building after 3 p.m. If the checks are not picked up by 3 p.m on Friday, they will be mailed to the exhibitor.

JAMES GRAPE AND FALL FESTIVAL SHOW SCHEDULE POULTRY SHOW SUPERINTENDENT: Shawn McDonald DIVISION A-To be judged Thursday, September 6th, at 6 p.m. All participants must supply their own cages, wood shavings and feed. All participants need to be pre-registered and each bird needs to have a Pullorum Test. Tests will be given 2 hours prior to the start of the show. Sections and Classes for Poultry Section 1 -- Standard Class 1 Cockerel Class 2 Old Cock (Over 1 year old) Class 3 Old Hens (Over 1 year old) Class 4 Pullet (Under 1 year old) Section 2 -- Bantam Class 1 Cockerel Class 2 Old Cock (Over 1 year old) Class 3 Old Hens (Over 1 year old) Class 4 Pullet (Under 1 year old) Section 3 -- Trio Consists of 1 male and 2 females of the same breed and age. (Entry fee $2) Section 4 -- Other classes will be included for Ducks and Turkeys. Section 5 -- Meat Pen-See rules given below. Consists of 4 birds of the same sex and same breed under 12 weeks of age. Meat pens will be judged on the following: 1. Uniformity 2. Soundness 3. Market Value Only one premium paid per breed, per class, per exhibitor will be paid. A trio is paid as one entry. Prizes will be awarded to the following: Hen of Show Rooster of Show Grand and Reserve Champion Rosettes for the following: Champion and Reserve Champion Standard Breed, Bantam Breed, Trio and other (Ducks & Turkeys) Champion and Reserve Champion Meat Pen Section 6 -- Open Pee Wee Poultry Class--Participation prizes will be given and a showmanship prize will be awarded to exhibitors ages 5-7 as of January 1, One chicken per exhibitor, any breed, and must complete Pollorum test. Showmanship classes: Open Pee Wee (5-7 years), Junior 4-H (8-12 years), Intermediate 4-H/FFA (13-16 years) and Senior Meat Pen Rules 1. Entry fee per pen: $15 2. Must sell at the Junior Livestock Sale, unless deemed ineligible by the FFA advisors.

Premium will be paid through 3rd place per variety. All entries must be identified by a permanent tattoo in the left ear. Only entered animals may be in the barn. All animals must be entered in the name of the owner. Any animal showing signs or symptoms of disease will be removed from the show ring. Leak proof carrier will be required. Exhibitors may weigh in a maximum of 2 hogs at spring weigh-in, but must determine which hog to show/sell prior to the weigh-in at the Festival. 2. At the spring weigh-in, market hogs must weigh pounds. 3. Market hogs must have a minimum ending weight of 185 pounds. 4. Market hogs over 300 pounds may be shown and sold, but excess weight will be donated. 5. Market hogs may be weighed 1 time only at each weigh in. MEAT GOATS SUPERINTENDENT--Christy Ford DIVISION D--Shown immediately following the Swine Show **All goats must have scrapies tags prior to arriving to the festival grounds.

All beef cattle must show current registration or application for animals less than one year of age. (Tattoos may be checked for verification.) Otherwise, animals must show in the crossbred class, if available. Open Pee Wee Bucket Calf class is open to kids 5-7 years old as of January 1, 2018 who reside in Phelps or an adjoining county. Market Replacement Heifer Rules 1. Entry fee is $20 2. Replacement heifers must be owned and shown by the 4-H or FFA member exhibiting them. 3. The 4-H/FFA member must currently be enrolled in a Beef project or SAE. 4. Replacement heifers must be born between January 1 and August 1, 2017 and weigh a minimum of 800 pounds at the final weigh in. 5. Final weigh in will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Snelson Farms. 6. Replacement heifer show will be Friday, September 7, Replacement heifers may be of any breed or crossbreed. 8. Replacement heifers may be bred or open. 9. Replacement heifers must be broke so that the exhibitor can handle them. 10. No Rate of Gain Class 11. If divided, classes will be set by weight.
