1 Section 1: Rule and Editorial Changes 1. A, B-30. After catching a legal forward pass, the Team A receiver taunts his opponent at the B-5 and continues into the end zone for a score. A. Beginning in 2011, either or both teams may have TV monitors on the sideline during the game. 3. On a free kick it is illegal for three or more members of the receiving team to form a wedge for the purpose of blocking for the ball carrier. 4. At the end of the fourth quarter with Team B ahead by 10 points, the on-field officials rule the quarter has ended and the game is over. Replay determines there was one second remaining when the Team A runner was down, inbounds for a new first down. Team A has one team timeout remaining. Replay will correct the timing error and put one second back on the game clock. 5. Following the penalty enforcement and 10-second subtraction, the game clock will start on the referee s ready for play signal unless the fouling team chooses to use one of their remaining team timeouts. 6. A, B-35. On a reverse play, the Team A QB is outside the tackle box when he blocks his opponent at the knees, back toward the snap at the B-39. The Team A passer is still in the tackle box and under duress when he throws a pass at the feet of the tight end who is engaged and blocking a defender. The runner then takes a step and holds the ball with the back of the hand on the ground below the ball at the B-31. The runner regains his balance and advances to the B-22 where he is downed. A. 7 35. Prior to the pass, the Team A receiver is contacted by a defender forcing the receiver out of bounds. A Team B teammate recovers at the B-30 and runs out of bounds at the B-45. The Team A tackler grabbed and twisted the facemask at the B-22 prior to the fumble. 13 Section 8: Extending a Period Extra Periods 71. A, B-20. Team QB throws a touchdown pass on the last timed down of the fourth quarter, trailing The LJ correctly rules the QB/passer over the line of scrimmage when the pass was thrown from the B-18. A. The QB is contacted while in the act of passing and before his hand comes forward he loses the ball. The referee rules incomplete pass. The ball goes into a pile with no clear recovery. 91. A, A-40. Team A QB who is being tackled by defensive tackle throws the ball to the ground at the A-35 with no eligible receiver in the area. The referee correctly rules a pass but does not throw a flag for intentional grounding. 92. A, A-20. Team A Back runs to the A-28 and fumbles. The Team B nose guard recovers at the A-30 with one foot on the sideline. The officials award the ball to Team B. 93. A, A-20. Team A Back runs to the A-25 and fumbles. The ball rolls out of bounds at the A-27, where the officials award the ball to Team A at that spot. 94. A, 50. Team A s punt hits in Team B s end zone untouched, then bounces back into the field of play. A Team B player recovers and returns the ball to the A-40, where officials award the ball to Team B. 95. A, A-40. Team A contacts the Team B receiver prior to the receiver touching the punt/ball. The ball bounces off the receiver and rolls to the B-35, where Team A recovers. 17 96. A, A-2. The Team A running back takes a handoff and gets hit near the goal line and is driven back into the end zone where he is tackled. The officials rule that the running back s forward progress was stopped at the A-1 and put the ball there. Replays show that when the runner s progress was stopped the ball was still in the end zone. 97. A, B35. The Team A ball carrier runs down the sideline and the LJ rules that the runner stepped out of bounds at the B-22. The runner continues and crosses the goal line. 98. A, B-38.
